Well, in reality it’s all a bit academic now but she’s so difficult to read. In the scene in The Hub when D’Anna was awoken (the something shiny moment) Boomer said nothing and gave nothing away. The only other thing we have really is the deleted scene in which she attempts a reconciliation with Natalie and the Twos and other Eights. The Twos seemed to be open to her overtures, the Eights seriously opposed and Natalie… well, I always thought Natalie to be as Machiavellian as any character in the show. That scene could indicate that she doesn’t know who/what she is (or, of course, that she isn’t at all).
On the other hand, the vote against her model and the relationship with Cavil (I know mainstream Cylons rule by consensus but operationally the Ones appear to be in control, and as with Tigh/Adama, Tory/Roslin and Anders/Kara Boomer acts as the subordinate in a pair with Cavil… I haven’t linked Tyrol with someone in this regard - the Galactica, maybe?) indicate that she knows exactly what she’s doing and why. Whether the Final Five need to be united to understand their purpose (Tyrol’s “I remember everything” would suggest not) or whether the Fifth will reveal it to them seemed important but maybe it isn’t. It’s possible that the Fifth does not, in fact, have the same mission as the Watchtower Four.
Ya know…the more I think about that fetus pic…the more I start to lean toward resurrecting my Helo being the FC theory. Tigh impregnating Caprica Six brought that into play in a BIG way. We now know that FF can reproduce with the S7, with love present. Helo, very obviously loves Athena. They obviously can reproduce with love present. Now, I have to ask myself, why would the writers have 2 babies born as half cylons? It seems a bit redundant to me. as a plot device it seems like, to me, that it would be more significant that one is half cylon & the other is full & the audience doesn’t even know it until the Tigh reveal. That Tigh reveal is much bigger than we know. Throughout the show Helo is the most “human”, the most forgiving, the most understanding & essentially the best out of all of them. Him being the final cylon would make any & all prejudices against the humanoid cylons being unfeeling machines essentially null & void.
A friend of mine has espoused this same theory (she also has a very cool theory about Baltar being a cylon, but one of the S7: a MALE version of the Number 6 model). I used to be an advocate of Helo as final cylon as well, and he very well could be. I feel like I don’t have enough information about the nature of the F5 to really say what this means for them, but Tigh/Six’s lovechild seems to hint that something like what you describe, Aset, is/might be at play here. Hmm…
But Helo is in the Last Supper photo.
Yes, but RDM also said, in the podcast for “Maelstrom,” that Starbuck was REALLY dead. So I take everything he says with a huge grain of salt (okay, maybe a pillar). I don’t take the clue that the final cylon is NOT in the last supper photo as gospel (what is it with me and the biblical imagery today?).
There are some nice clues and consequences for Helo as the Fifth (the Secrets of Battlestar podcast espoused some interesting ideas in its second episode), but he is in the Last Supper photo…
I haven’t listened to the Maelstrom podcast. Here’s what RDM said in the Crossroads podcast:
Now this section here, as we get into the attack, and then the eventual revelation of Kara at the end, was also a closely guarded secret. They were separate pages that were not put out initially. If you think back to the “Maelstrom” podcast, I think you’ll find that I walked the line very carefully in that podcast. I don’t think I ever lied about the fact that she was never coming back to the show. I think I talked pretty much about the fact- the reaction of people, and that we mean- that she was gonna be killed, and what a devastating thing it was to the cast and the crew. And how it really affected everyone. And all that is absolutely true. Now what I didn’t get into was the rest of that story, which was that when the news went out that we were killing Kara in “Maelstrom”, all hell broke loose up on the set in Vancouver, and I got a call from the studio one morning saying, “OK. I think you better do something. The cast and the crew are almost in a state of mutiny up there.” And we went, “Huh? Oh my God.” And so David and I called up Eddie and Mary first and said, “OK. Look. Here’s the lowdown. Kara’s coming back in the last episode.” We told them how she was coming back and all that. And we didn’t- we had not wanted to put them all in the position of having to lie to everybody, of having to lie to publicists and press, and lying to cast, other mem- lying to the crew, etc. But it had gotten to such a point that we had now had to share the information, and then Eddie and Mary shared it with the rest of the cast, and eventually key crew members were brought in. We had to break the secret just to maintain cohesion up there. But there were certainly people that were ready to like hang David and I in effigy.
Many other people have doubted RDM’s repeated assurances about the photo and the Final Cylon. I never had any doubt he was being truthful about it but the amount of people calling him a liar has, over time, been vexing. Why would he tell an outright lie?
The Final Cylon is not in the Last Supper photo. If you can’t believe RDM, then take a look at Joe’s comment, made on 8 November, on this article.
The Last Supper photo really is my sticking point with the Helo theory.
I have to say, I have disected, reread & basicly obsessed over his comments to EW regarding that photo. If he has comments somewhere else regarding the photo, I am not aware of them…please link if there are.
EW: Does that mean the people already at the table aren’t the final cylon?
RDM: You ferreted that out pretty slyly . I didn’t really want to give that away.
He never actually committed to the FC not being in that photo. It’s certainly implied, but not confirmed. RDM knows exactly what he’s doing when he answers questions in this manner. Then again I may be putting more significance into his comments than is really there.
I think he was pestered somewhat after that press conference, and his second response was equally elusive. His third public response was something like The Life of Brian:
Reporter: Only the true creator denies the Final Cylon is not in the photo.
RDM: What? Well What sort of a chance does that give me? Alright, the Final Cylon is not in the Last Supper photo.
Press: It’s not! It’s not in the Last Supper photo!
RDM: Now, f*ck off!
He admitted it fairly straightforwardly in his third comment, yet people still chose to call him a factmangler and not believe him.
However, if you check out Joe’s comment from 8 November beneath this article, then it’s confirmation that RDM was telling the truth. Joe has seen the first six or seven episodes and read the scripts for Daybreak.
The Final Cylon is not in the Last Supper photo.
[However… Joe has not seen nor read the script for Islanded in a Stream of Stars, in which I believe the real Final Cylon reveal will occur.]
Before I go on a forum hiatus for a bit (finals, ugh), just thought I’d drop in and mention the two new clues up. The first “new” clue isn’t new at all–recycled scene from “Escape Velocity”–and at first glance the second clue doesn’t seem new either. However…what happened to Roslin in this version of the Last Supper photo?
Many other people have doubted RDM’s repeated assurances about the photo and the Final Cylon. I never had any doubt he was being truthful about it but the amount of people calling him a liar has, over time, been vexing. Why would he tell an outright lie?
The man’s not a liar. What he is is very, very good at controling the information (and misinformation) that goes out of his production office. When I say I take what he says with a grain of salt I do not mean it as a criticism (in fact, I admire RDM for his brilliance at understanding and managing the vagaries of our “new media” so well).
However…what happened to Roslin in this version of the Last Supper photo?
Good luck and get some rest. If you haven’t got your health, then you haven’t got anything!
Very interesting. The straight interpretation of Head 6’s statement, in context of her machinations toward the end of 4.0, is that she wants Baltar to make a play to make his cult the mainstream religion. Of course, killing the old God’s representative would be an obvious way to do it.
what is the very first thing six says in the scene? is it “new or the old gods”?.
and what the frak. no roslin? they’ve been getting rid of her from that photo one photoshop session at a time… what the frak. that makes me scared.
It appears that there are 22 clues remaining. if they continue to release a new clue every week, then we should be getting a lot of clues in one day. sounds daunting.
or the Old Gods?" And that makes sense in context of Baltar’s reply, “why can’t I just be a man?” Which is strangely both the most and lest Balter thing Baltar’s ever said.
It’s Kara and Leoben in the woods when they find Kara’s viper with Kara’s body in it.
The fetus is probably Tigh and Six’s. Full and part Cylon hybrid, therefor more cylon than human. Perhaps the Star child. Though I think Starbuck is the Star Child.
Lee prob says Baltar is the Fifth, to discredit his cult.
Oh, those are all great predictions. I could see all of those happening…
Also, so that’s what Baltar said. I had a hard time making it out. Kind of funny - first he goes and creates a cult, then asks if he could just be a normal person? Come now, Baltar… You’re either the stupidest person here, or the most shortsighted.
EDIT: Come to think of it, remember how many of Baltar’s actions are just acting on Head 6’s advice, especially the cult. It’s like he’s the flesh-puppet of… What? His subconscious? A higher power?
Worse, both. He may well be the flesh puppet of his own enourmus ego. See my thread on the Implications of Baltar being a Cylon and Cylons being gods to realize the potential we have for a depth of narcissism like the world has never yet seen.
