Gonna start reading the Anita Blake series soonish.
Easily my favorite book series of all time, that. On their own the books are good, but as an entire work they’re absolutely fascinating. Definitely let us know what you think!
A Game of Thrones and A Storm of Swords are my favorite volumes so far.
Recently read The Court of the Air. Has anyone else read this? What did you think?
Just finished Fool, Christopher Moore’s latest.
Currently re-reading Order of the Phoenix (just felt like time for a Harry Potter re-read.)
Currently reading “The Mote in God’s Eye” by Pournelle and Niven. Truly remarkable book in my opinion.
Yes! That book was awesome. I might pick it up again and re-read it soon.
Since everyone is talking about Harry Potter, I guess I will too. When they first came out, I didn’t want to read them because kids my age (5th grade) were saying they were the best books ever. At the time, The Giver was my favorite book, and I was personally offended that it wasn’t their favorite book as well. I finally broke down and checked it out from the library. I read it one night/morning, and went to bed at 5am happy. I had to wait forever for someone to return the second book to the library over the summer, but I got the first three for my birthday in September. The rest I have gotten on opening night, and The Order of the Phoenix is my favorite of the series.
Switching gears, I did a lot of reading over the break. I took a small stack of books home with me to read, but blew to them to fast. I broke down and payed retail (which I still regret) to get me through the break.
I read:
Ender’s Game, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind by Orson Scott Card
I, Robot by Isaac Asimov
The Planet Savers by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling
Just finished:
Web of Light by Marion Zimmer Bradley (an early novel that left me with a very meh feeling)
Currently reading:
Lady of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
I’m reading this. Actually rereading it cuz I read it 10 years ago. But I don’t remember it, so the suspense is still there.
The audio version of Wishful Drinking, as read by the Carrie Fisher.
Currently with bookmarks in them:
-Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons (doing my pre-movie reread so I can lend it to a friend who hasn’t read it yet)
-Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
-Hawk & Fisher: Winner Take All by Simon R. Green
-Wild Cards edited by George R. R. Martin (and yes, ASoIaF fans, I feel extremely dirty reading this. But my best friend recommended it, and we have pretty much identical tastes, so…)
Just finished:
-Duma Key by Stephen King
-Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street by Michael Davis
About to be read:
-The Last Wish by Andrezj Sapkowski
Club Dead by Charliane Harris
Need to pick up the 2nd book in the Anita Blake series (yes, I’m ion a vamp kick).
I love love love MZB
Me too. Apparently, the Web of Light book is actually the first half of a longer story, which would explain why the ending was so unsatisfying.
Put the other books aside that I was reading, and just finished a re-read on Angels and Demons.
“Red Seas Under Red Skies”, the sequel to “The Lies of Locke Lamora.”
I’m reading some PHP book for now…
Ruby Dice - Catherine Asaro
Star Wars Outcast - not bad so far…not a fan of the cover art though
I’ll need to read Web of Light. MZB’s Mists of Avalon is one of my all time favorites.
I just finished Nikki Sixx’s Heroin Diaries, and am now reading Anthony Bourdain’s The Nasty Bits.
Dune
Again
Its a book I re-read constantly. The only problem is I find myself scrambling for pen and paper to write down all the noteworthy quotes from it. And every time I finish the book I lose the paper. Admittedly it can be a tough read, but it is an amazing book.
I usually scramble for punch and PAHHHHH:D
