The Golden Compass - 5/16 @ 8 PM Eastern

Says the man with the praying mantis dæmon…

Well, you just go a few blocks past 14th St into Chelsea, there are a lot of skinny boys clubbing. But down in West Village, it’s an interesting mixture.

She’s baaaaaa-ack!

That’s Cleveland Heights and suburbs further east. Here on the west side, it’s all the artsy emo types.

Eeek, the whole silver gillotine scene freaks me out every time!

Go Lyra go!

Wow, she knew exactly how to blow that shit up. Good girl.

And Iorek to the rescue!!!

See, not all gingers are soulless night-walkers! Some of us have pretty decent heads on our shoulders!

I also really love the effect of the dæmon’s turning into dust when they die in the movie!

Fun movie, but I like the books better.

As I recall, the movie is more blatant than the books - though I certainly thought that the last book was pretty obvious. However, as that is not within the purview of the film… I shall withhold further comment.

What are you talking about… I bet you’d also know exactly how to blow this shit up too. Seems like something you’d know how to do.

And I used to wonder why I never got the chemistry set I asked Santa for every Christmas…

Wait… didn’t that end too soon?

Your parents are wise people. They didn’t want you blowing up the house.

Yeah, they left the scene where Lyra finds Asriel out from the movie

Lyra’s closing speech… she sounded a little creepy. She had a crazy look in her eyes. She almost sounded like Mrs. Coulter just now.

Easy there, girl… easy. Don’t go crazy on me now.

Yeah, since my dad was the kid who tried to blow up the cabinetry in the chem lab in high-school when he and a buddy made nitro in the sink while the teacher wasn’t looking!

I still have the microscope and telescope Santa brought me, though.

I can totally see how the book would be better. It feels like they rushed through a LOT of material to fit it into a movie.

Having a soul and having a brain are unrelated. For instance, Angelus was pretty bright, too.
