Stargate Universe

You save the planet a few times ya get promoted. Also considering he has the most off world experience he’s perfect for the position. Difference here where Hammond was just in charge of the SGC. Jack also has control of the Daedalus Battle cruisers and jurisdiction over Atlantis short of the IOA.

To be fair, one season does not necessarily equal one year. C.f. the last episode of Season Two of BSG.

Yeah, if I remember correctly Jack was put in charge of all Earth’s defenses, which means that while he’s not directly in charge of the SGC, the guy in charge reports to him. He’s also a special adviser to the president.

Yep when the Sh1t hit the F@n. He’s the person on the line you are calling for HELP!!!

OT Remember when they did the time warp stargate. Just before the end they jumped to the future not the present. They met someone from their time that knew they would show up there. She mentioned some of what their future was to be. Particularly about Dr Jackson’s loss of hair. Would have loved to have seen him disparately trying rogain in a vain attempt during sgu.

On http://stargate.mgm.com/browse/videos/series/3/narrow/featurette/limit/8/offset/8/index.html you can find some great Featurettes including many more and complete Daniel Jackson teaching videos that were intercut or cut out of the Pilot episode.

I like the show, but ever since Audra mentioned Chloe being cast as a Summer Glau type, I keep thinking of the character as “River Tammy.”

Is anyone else having an issue with the quality of the CGI exteriors of Destiny herself? It just seems a little clunky. I know that it’s expensive and cuts into budget and it’s only TV, etc., but it seems to me that Destiny is a major character in the show, and I’m just not seeing the same level of care taken in rendering it as say, BSG. Whenever I see the ship in space I get a real late-1980’s sfx feel. Can’t quite put my finger on why, it’s not the design of the ship, just…something.

I noticed that in the last episode. I’m guessing it’s a time thing. The more time you have to do renders, the better it looks (speaking very broadly here.)

the design of the ship is a Cardassian Galor class flag ship driven backwards.

Ive been thinking the exact same thing. The colors, textures and details just seem off. All the other effects on the show are fine, but this ship seems like a fairly talented highschool student put it together.

Disagree, the only problem Stargate in general has had with space battles is there doesn’t seem to be weight to the ships. They all just zip around like fighters. The textures and stuff are fine.

Ha’tak class ships I always thought looked really good, along with Ori Motherships and Daedalus class cruisers. The Destiny looks terrible in comparison.
Edited to add: check page 8 of this thread to see some closeups of the Destiny from the title sequence.

Having never seen the other SG shows, I have little to compare Destiny with. HAH!

There’s not a whole lot of starships in the other SGs (well, until towards the end.) The comparison is going to be mainly with shows like BSG et al.

i demand a shot of the destiny broken and swaying like galactica at the very end of the series.

It does share some similarities to it. Talos you want to chime in on that one.

Since Eli (aka MathBoy) is proving his necessity. Who on board will notice first? Cloe is close to him but that’s all she is. Now I’m hoping that instead Lieutenant Daaaaaaayum has a relationship with him. We see Eli coming out of Lieutenant Daaaaaaayum’s quarters as Cloe is walking by. The reactions will be well worth it.

I don’t see that happening. If this series is following SG and/or BSG timelines, the smart guys (McKay, Carter, Billy Keikeya [remember him?], [but not Baltar], etc.) won’t hook up until third season or so. Granted Destiny’s crew is fixed. I only see Lt. James hooking up with Eli to make her one time bookshelf humper mate jealous (like that would work).

Though, I can imagine Chloe seeing Eli coming out of Lt. James quarters and misunderstanding the situation as Eli is the liaison for the Lower Deck people.

You might be right. Then there is that redhead we have seen in the trailers that’s in the pool. Ya never know.
