Actually, at first, I thot of Princess Ardala’s ride The Draconia
I can totally see the Cardassian Galor class as well.

Yeah, that planet is gonna make people behave like “The Naked” or “The Naked Now.” That’s the only way for Eli until season 3. (:
Redhead: Eli, so tell me… Are you fully functional?
Cssadian Galor
The only thing the fat nerdy kid gets on american television is pity. Bet a quarter that Rush gets play before Eli does. If he doesnt take his shot in the next few episodes he’s getting put into the friendzone express lane.
Now that looks like a Klingon Vor’cha with stuff glued on the top.
Well, in Season 5 of Atlantis
Rodney hooked up with Keller
so I can’t entirely agree with you there.
And technically, all of Stargate is Canadian television
McKay wasnt a soldier sure, but he was an average adult. Eli is fat, nerdy and a kid. I honestly cant think of a similar character that wasnt perpetually the comic relief and not the love interest. Maybe it will be different on SGU.
Jake Sisko in later seasons (maybe I’m misremembering). Wesley and Ashley Judd, again later seasons. Granted, they weren’t overweight pe se.
Btw, the Draconia looks like a Minmatar ship to me.
Jake is smooth as heck with the ladies. if he didn’t get any, it’s because he lives with his dad and his dad runs the frakking station.
I have to agree with hansioux on this… Jake’s adorable, but his situation makes dating a bit complicated.
I suspect the ship will remain uncontrolled (by humans) for about a season (insh’allah), at which point they will manage to abort an FTL jump or something and gain the ability to occasionally stop the countdown, but at a terrible cost that makes it expedient to maintain the time tension as a plot device. I’m guessing we’ll see an ascended Ancient Lifeform at some point too, I’ll call him “Al” for short.
Eventually, they’ll get it turned around and start retracing their path back home which will create the opportunity to “revisit” some of the civilizations they’ve met previously and deal with the unintended side effects of their first trip.
They’ll find themselves trapped far away, facing races that are not their own and driven by a mysterious unknown force to change these galaxies for the better. Their only guide on this journey will be Al, an ancient observer from their own galaxy who who appears in a ghostlike form that only Dr. Rush can see and hear. And so, the Destiny will find itself jumping from system to system, striving to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that the next FTL leap will be the leap home.
LOL.
Fingers crossed that that becomes the intro for season 2.
It took me about 3/4 of the way through to realize where you we going with this.
Well played; well played.
Ok if it’s Brother Cavil i’ll barf. If it’s Archer at least we know what happened after the Mining town bar.
Talk about mix metaphors there.
I don’t know how SGU will develop, but I’m REALLY enjoying it at the moment. Robert Carlyle is a magnetic actor, but the rest of the cast is good too. Although I always enjoyed SG-1, it’s a relief that this is played as a serious drama rather than camp. I don’t care much how it develops as long as any aliens are really alien (no English-speaking Minoans please) and the level of moral complexity is maintained. While it may lack the thematic complexity of BSG, it is probably less burdened by an overarching narrative. SGU has the scope to be really surprising.
You know after a watching the latest episode a really cool thought occurred to me about this series, maybe its not going to be about pyramid space ships and machine guns; and really just about finding water, and food keeping the ship together. of course from time to time some alien stuff, mostly just character and basic survival stuff. seems like a really cool spin on a sci/fi show.
Yeah, like Voyager except without the Kazons (hopefully), or BSG without the ambiguous subplots. (:
I don’t know how this will play with the mass audience, but I have really enjoyed the slow pace so far. 5 episodes in and they are still dealing with extremely basic issues and just scraping to get by. Its not exciting at all, but very enjoyable. Could be horrible for ratings tho - risky.
I love how not one word was said about the “environmental impact” or “prime directive” implications of just releasing the gnat aliens on the new planet. I think we will see them again though somehow. Rush seemed to be thinking about something after they pushed the trash can through the gate. Could have been these issues.
Too bad that Senator’s daughter looks like she is going to be one of the main leads. The medic, Ming Na and Lt. Dayuum seem like better actors / characters.
From what I heard, Ming Na’s performance in the first few episodes impressed them enough to upgrade her from recurring to regular, but the next several scripts were already written. It’ll take a while, but she will have a more substantial role. And TJ (the medic) is one of the regulars.
Lt. Vanessa James is Lt. Dayuuum. BWHAHAHAHA!
Well…gotta admit. It’s true. And I’m all for it, dag namit.
We have a ship in Destiny that is semi autonomous. It hasn’t been mentioned yet but why hasn’t anyone gone to the ancient database and look up the info on Destiny. Might have something important there like pass codes ect. You would think Jack or Carter would have thought of this already.
