It was reasonably good. I’ll keep watching. I’ve watched every other Stargate (except Infinity, with good reason). Although the pilot kind of annoyed me with regard to the constant jumps back and forward in time. I really dislike that particular narrative device. But I don’t imagine they’ll make a habit of it.
Since we know by now that Lou Diamond will not be a Regular on this show. It looks like all we will see of him is in flash back sequences. A Cheap way of getting him in a scene. Oh well.
Or maybe when they’re communicating with Earth. He was on a 302, so he was probably recovered by the Hammond.
Yeah, it was said along the lines, that Telford should lead the fighters to the Hammond in two minutes before the ship withdraw.
And look at that huge double cannon on the right side of the picture.
IIRC, he appeared in scenes for next week’s episode.
Not only did they invent the Stargate but the B.F.G. as well.
The ship that is in the center is either the second shuttle they were talking about. Or it’s another larger ship attached to it say for evacuations. Force perspective can be a lil tricky there.
This ship is ancient built but the level of tech they had at the time is less than Atlantis and their later Capital ships. No need here for the Ancient gene here onboard. It should be interesting what they find that powers this thing. Along with what Capital and personal weapons are on the ship.
From the previews it looks like they will find spacesuits and do some sort of repairs. This is going to be a long haul here.
If I recall correctly, they said they appeared to be Lucien Alliance, definitely recall that answered with some uncertainty (not that it makes any difference now).
I remember them saying that they werent using hyperspace, but I understood it to mean they were travelling some other way. I didnt get the impression that Destiny was moving slower. Besides which they were still going FTL.
I was so excited for Lou Diamond Phillips and Christopher McDonald! Now Shooter is dead and LDP isnt even on the ship(although he is listed as a cast regular).
EDIT: According to the Wiki, LDP will be a recurring cast member and appears in 5 of the first 9 episodes. Blech! Me want more LDP.
I hope they explain why everyone is so anti-Dr. Rush. I liked him and all the hate was just confusing.
In any case Im definitely into seeing more SGU, bring it on!
Remember the line about how the Ancients sent this ship out. They also have ships that were to build the stargates and collect the raw material. It looks like this week we have them getting the materails to fix the Air problem. What i’m wondering is, the Ancients knew that there would be a need for possible repairs. Is there some sort of ship they will come across that will do a full repair of the Ship? Cause as of right now they are basically a sitting duck if they have to fight.
It’s sort of implied that the ship recognized their need and reacted accordingly. Obviously, there’s no need to fix the life support issue if there’s no one alive on the ship, so it never bothered until people arrived. I’m definitely thinking that this ship has a much more advanced AI than we’ve seen so far.
I totally agree on the AI. True the ship’s did recognize that the air supply needed to be fixed. As of right now though the StarGate on board will be the only way to get on or off the ship. Since the Stargate can work at great distances. The smart AI would park the ship in a quiet area of space away from possible attack. Oh wait smart and StarGate are not things you think of together.:p:D
I enjoyed the pilot episode. I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes, especially since I’m new to SG.
There was a quick scene in the pilot that looked like somebody spying on the crew from the air ducts/piping in the ceiling. I don’t think I imagined it, maybe the AI controlling a Kino or something?
Does this mean we can look forward to more secret closet sex?
Obviously the ship has a stowaway from one of the previous dialing cycles.
The alien, an orphan child, mostly comes out at night. Mostly.
Her name, btw? “Gnoot” (silent G).
</prediction>
Also the question that is hanging out there. Who gave up the location of the SG base. Did that person make it off the planet and are they among the survivors on the ship?
I read that that particular point will be resolved in the last 3 episodes, and will involve the seasons main villain.
Well that’s good to know. The way the are now an angry Jaffa would be trouble for this group.
Seems to me what we have here is BS:G/ST Voyager with Baltar in charge. Dr. Rush is not to be trusted, IMO.
There is a lot of potential here so I’ll watch until SyFy blows it.
Dr. Rush took a chance and they ended up on the Destiny. Baltar was horny and got a whole solar system full of planets bombed into oblivion. Comparison seems a bit unfair.
The guy has only committed one questionable action and everyone(including the cast who didnt like him even before they ended up on the ship) seems to think he is some evil mastermind(or something).
