If you were stuck on that ship with questionable survivability, would you like him?
They didnt like him before they got on the ship, something which hasnt been explained. I would be upset, but danger is a big part of going off world, something everyone on that ship did of their own volition. And I think the Baltar comparisons are unfair, Rush hasnt done anything so heinous yet.
If Rush is the reason they are several galaxies away from Earth. I think that would qualify. Baltar afterall gave access to the Colonies defenses.
IMO, the actions of Rush and his interaction with Eli remind me of Dr. Smith from Lost in Space more than Baltar.
I can see that. Except Rush seems more competent so far.
From Gwensdad2003 (gwensdad on Twitter) via Twitter:
The premier is available right now as a free download on iTunes. “Air” Parts 1 and 2, in HD. Just in case you missed it.
They are 100% fair. It has been said by the people making this show that they sorta used some of the ideas from BSG. He is obviously a Baltar-like character.
All I know for sure is what Ive seen on the show, although I would like to hear how the show creators describe Dr. Rush.
In the mean time, some numbers for comparison:
Dr. Rush - 25-75 people lost (lost as in ‘where are we?’)
Dr. Baltar - 20-50 BILLION people lost (lost as in dead)
Lets at least give this dude a shot before we airlock him.
I don’t think people feel he should be airlocked (yet). I think people feel he should be relegated to a more non-leadership role, and be more remorseful for his actions.
Him being like Baltar is unfair. Baltar was a self serving D@#$bag who if he wasn’t doing something brilliant was thinking with his lil friend. Most of the time his lil friend won out.
They were PO’ed at Dr Rush because they were sent to a place they weren’t supposed to be. That and you have a top bureaucrat who is totally out of her league. Challenging the DR for control without a clue as to what to do. If there is one person that’s gonna be spaced it’s her. As of this moment the military needs to be in control and all the techs that were sent with them need to be busy. As it is Rush will likely be not so much in charge but will share responsibility with the Colonel. After next week episode both need to use the stones to get this resolved.
Oh another reason why they don’t have faith in him is that little problem they were having with the 9th chevron. Months of work with nothing to show for it. All to be figured out by a slacker gamer.
Personally i’m looking forward to this weeks show.
Danke. D/Ling the HD version now.
that’s totally the vibe i got.
I do wish the pace and editing of the show will improve. So far SG still feels very slow, and at the same time it didn’t really have interesting dialogue. The premiere is more of an “action episode”, the slowness of it feels out of place.
Well I just dl’d the pilot from itunes. It was all cool and such getting the first flyby look of the Destiny.
As I was watching the show I noticed something. At about just before the 4 minute mark. The scene chaotic at best as they are coming through the gate. We see the good Dr heading over to the control console for the stargate. I can’t make it out cause it goes too fast and I can’t pause Itunes fast enough. He gets to the console and looks at his glasses. Then I see it, a person sneaking past him and all the rest. I know we were joking earlier about a stowaway, we might just be right. Anyhow, if some one could get that still I think it would be of much use here.
Ok my bad on second look it seems like one of the people from the base who is injured. Sorry about that. This thread has me seeing things all over the episode.
Just saw the first two weeks of episodes and Im pretty pleased. Its worth going back to my regular Jell-o making scedule for. Although I have yet to find a character I actually like.
Just watched Friday night’s second episode. Can someone explain the projection on the colonel and the senator’s daughter? Where exactly is Lou Diamond Philip’s character- back on Earth? Is there something about this that is related to SG canon that, as a newbie, I’m not aware of?
There are small stones that are Ancient technology that allow people to basically switch bodies, allowing communication over vast distances. Rush used one of them in Air 1 & 2 to contact Earth, and they’ve been used a few times in SG-1 and Atlantis. Usually not intentionally, but now they mean to.
Gotta say, not super wild about this last episode. Wife kept yelling “ACTION! I NEED ACTION!” at the screen, and I had to agree.
The music at the end was… misplaced.
I watched every episode of SG:1, SG:A, and all the movies. I even tried watching an episode of Stargate Infinity, an exercise in extreme patience.
This show… needs to get it together.
You know better… This is the forum that has IYKWIM as an acronym…
did anyone notice in the last couple seconds of the 3rd ep., a pod launched(seperated) from the destiny… wtf was that? any ideas
and im really enjoying SGU
Well let the conjecture begin.
It could be one of many things.
1: This is a sentry probe. One left behind by another power when the ship was properly activated.
2: A recovery craft. A ship to be sent out once the ancients had fixed a certain system proving who they were. Said craft will go and get a larger craft to repair of destiny.
- Baltar. WTF was that anyway.
Thing is this will probably not be brougt back until the season finale.
