Stargate Universe

Two things…

  1. I saw Telford on ESPN tonight at the WSOP.
  2. There is a baristette at my Starbucks that looks like TJ.
  3. I’m too lazy to read the whole thread. Did anyone else notice Palmer was the lead news chick on Colonial One?

Yeah. I think I pointed it out on the Frak Party thread for the premiere.

I havent given up, but I think the lackluster acting coupled with boring characters has really turned down my enjoyment of this show. I want “old” Stargate back :frowning:

I disagree, the acting has been pretty damn good. Thats not to say I really like all the characters, but I dont think the performances are the problem. In any case Farscape season 1 is now streaming from Netflix, so if you want to watch a better show thats more like SG1, well there ya go.

That’s what SGU needs. Cursing muppets!!

Can you imagine the three way power struggle between Rush, Young and Rygel? Rygel would be imperious, obnoxious and insulting; then Rush and Young would start to find their personal effects missing from their quarters, lol. Maybe I should write a letter to the SGU producers about a crossover. :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t forget the IOA rep. Though, she is not anywhere close to Rygel’s league. d:

Never thought of it that way but i see it. I will say though she is not 100% with her counterpart on Earth. He’s pushing balkanization. If not out right sedition to Young’s authority.

Him and Telford both. The only ones who like Young are the military aboard Destiny (except the bald guy). And, O’Neill maybe.

I think the bald guy is just on the verge of a meltdown. Im assuming they are going to explain his actions, hopefully with a flashback and not some quick resolution.

I’d say that Eli probably likes him too. Honestly, I’d be surprised if there was anyone (except maybe baldy) that Eli doesn’t like on Destiny. Sure, there’s probably a bit of hostility between him and Scott over Chloe, but they still seem like they’re friends.

You’re talking about the big guy who looks like he’s about to kill everybody? I kept expecting to see him to go jump into the chair. It’s expected the chair will kill or hurt its occupant but give access to the ship, so I figured the writers were going to sacrifice this unlikeable angry guy.

I didnt get the ‘self-sacrifice’ vibe from him, more like ‘suicide by cop’. Ill be disappointed if they try to kill 2 birds with one stone by having him die while using the chair. Much more interesting if whoever uses the chair doesnt die but is ‘changed’ and becomes a third source of power on the ship on par with Young/Rush. Further division of loyalties, battles for control, etc. Watching as much TV as I do, this is probably completely unlikely.

Yeah, Eli too. But, I don’t consider him a power player. He is the goody two shoes who wants to be liked by everyone. Granted he sort of has the lower deck folks in his corner, but they are just using him.

Top command, in my opinion, are Rush, Young, Telford, and the IOA lady (can’t remember her name yet) just barely, then Eli taking the rear below the medic, Scott, and even Greer.

Also, friends is a strong word. d: But, they are at least amicable. Don’t forget that time loop episode where everyone saw Eli talk about his mother (and gaining some respect and sympathy from Scott and others) didn’t happen in the final timeline. So, they aren’t as close as one might think.

I wonder if Eli will ever flip and confront Scott over her one day. He’d lose, but I still wonder.

I agree with suicide, but I wonder who he’l take with him. I have a feeling he has a terminal illness, but I can’t think of any you can take a pill for.

If the IOA lady takes the chair and ends up like you say, that will throw a real wrench in the works.

I agree that he’s not really a power player, and honestly, I don’t think he really wants to be.

I disagree that Telford has any real power on Destiny after he broke and ran during Earth. For a while now, I thought command should be Rush, Young, and Wray (the IOA lady). When Rush and Young disagree (which would probably be about always :stuck_out_tongue: ), she has enough authority that she should be in a position to break the tie between them.

Given how she pleaded with Young wrt the raffle to get off the ship, I’m not sure she has any authority.

It might be the bad characters or poor writing. Its mostly just that I really dislike Scott and Chloe. I find them boring. Everyone else I like, but they are so important I find myself not really enjoying the show.

Thank you! They are this series’ version of Lee Adama…tofu and sleeping pills.

I like the chicks. I really only watch it for them.

The two characters I dislike the most are Scott and Chloe, funny that. I ignore them mostly, not too hard to do at this stage since Chloe doesnt really feature too heavily in these last 2-3 episodes (likely owing to the fact that she has no skills that would needed on that ship). Curious what they intend to do with her as the season progresses since theyve set her up as one of the mains.
