Jestisoning those warp boosters seems kinda wasteful.
Yup. Can’t be really Star Trek without Spock.
Spock’s entrance brought a tear to this Vulcan lover’s eye.
Overwhelmed with anticipation!
That should rebalance the universe nicely. Carry on.
It certainly has a similar tone to those movies, but unlike them, it had the series before it to build off. So why didn’t it?
It seems to me that it’s a more enjoyable film if you had the experience of waiting for new Trek. If you’ve had Trek your whole life, OTOH, it’s disappointing on several levels.
It’s symbolic of the fact that these two characters really are something special together.
They get reconnected and the shuttle goes back to Vulcan on autopilot.
Weird thing I’m noticing on this watch, probably #121, is the amount of multi-cultural people on the Enterprise.
Seems a little disingenuous to call burying him alive the “loss of his friend”.
Agreed.
balter’s cabbage patch
Definitely. I even noticed an Andorian or two.
IMO, Robert Wise was a poor choice for director of this film. I think they put so much money into it they needed an established old timer to direct. OTOH, I can’t think of anyone else at the time who could’ve done it. Scifi was so poorly viewed at that time by executives.
I can’t be objective about that cuz I just finished ready a series of Trek books that cover the long friendship of Mitchell and Kirk. That makes the idea that Kirk had to kill him pretty tragic.
Good thing that’s all changed for the better now.
That is quite logical. Now I can sleep tonite.
Poor Chekov.
Always takes the brunt of making the threat real.
Yeah. I knew you were gonna say that. It went from red-headed step child to dolled-up paegent queen cash cow.
I also meant the actors involved. Black, Spanish, Asian, and Ilia is Indian (from the East not Native American).
Or at least it would be, if they could take it back from us basement dwellers and get some women interested.
And now the segment of the film where they spent all the money.
