Not sure how I feel about those spoilers or if like where the story could be going.

However if before the 2009 movie was released, you had told me that the movie’s central plot revolved around Romulans from the future blowing up the planer Vulcan, I would have been far more skeptical how good the movie could have possibly been.

I hope they go to hell and get raped by the devil! ( Yes I will be there watching it opening day)

Since this is a spoiler for the movie, I’d suggest you change the title of the post to something that doesn’t just straight up say it. I was trying to avoid spoilers (as much as one can these days) but unfortunately things like this make it nearly impossible :frowning:

I’d also ask that you refrain from using sexual assault as a metaphor for this kind of news. They’re really not comparable at all.

Love the responses.

Alright. Now that it’s “official”. I’ll chime in.

I’ve been against a Khan storyline since the credits started rolling at the end of nuTrek. Simply put I think it is the commercial and “safe” choice. I’m not surprised. I’ve already posted several places how I feel about it.

That being said, I am not going to bash the decision. Like every production, I have no say in it. I learned a while ago that my frustration at such things was my own stunted creativity. As much as I was hoping they would have chose a different (any other) storyline, I’m not sharpening my pitchfork. JJ, you’re safe for now.

I just have one word. Meh.

Disapointing. I guess like the last film I have to go in with mixed expectations, only to be won over by it in the end? :frowning:

Merged this thread with the original one for the next ST movie. Please be mindful that others may not want to be blatantly spoiled by thread titles!

Yeah, i’ve expressed my views before elsewhere too.
I agree 100% with all you say above.

The Khan decision was no doubt driven by thosebwhose only real exposure or interest in Star Trek has been movie Star Trek …combined with a relunctance to come up with stuff to add to the Star Trek verse.

Sorry for the spoiler. In my defense, I didn’t figure it was a spoiler. It’ going to be all in the trailer and probably on the poster ( heck maybe in the title). No one that goes to see this movie is going to do it without knowing Cumbatch is Khan. Rumor is this movie is set up as the 2nd part of the contracted trilogy. Rumor is that it will end on a cliffhanger :frowning:

Khan, you bloodsucker!!!

Hmmm … let me guess, Spock goes into the warp containment plexi-glass, saves the ship but gets radiation poisoning. Something about “needs of the many out weighing the needs of the few, or the one”, then Scotty plays the bag pipes and they shoot Spock out of a torpedo tube but … is he really dead?

/disgust

I am not happy of this “development” … not happy JJ. If you want my Quatloos, you’ll have to work harder. Hopefully all is not Lost.

“Hopefully all is not Lost.”

I see what you did there

I hope the install some phasers on the Enterprise so that we don’t see the the “all anti aircraft” version of the Enterprise this time.

Also, I am disapointed to see that the “big three” is Uhurah, Spock, and Kirk instead of the much superior Kirk, Spock, and Mcoy dynamic. Uhura needs to get her butt back in that seat and answer the phone so Bones can be important again!

I predict you will be disapointed on both accounts.

BTW, I hate it when people refer to McCoy as “Bones” as if that was his name. (At least you didn’t do it the first time.)

It’s his nickname…like scotty. I like to think that he is my friend and that I can pull it off. But next time I will remeber to call him Leonard

Not exactly sure how you are able to detect such a major character shift from a limited selection of photos from the set. There is actually no context for what is going on in this scene. We do not know where this fight scene fits in to the over all story so I do not think J.J. Abrams is going to ignore the character work from the first film to simply replace Mccoy with Uhurah.

But considering that the original intent of the Uhurah character was show that in future a women, and a minority at that could have a place in the command structure of starship. I find your “butt back in that seat and answer the phone” remark rather sexist.

You answered that well. You and ONLY you (and Kirk) may call him Bones from now on
