So what is Starbuck anyway??

Until this point though, there has been very little “mystical” in the show and to present any now would be just as bad as what Old Timer pointed out about changing the game.

I’m fairly convinced that one big plot twist we’ll see is the complete and utter abolition of anything mystical in a huge sleight of the hand sort of move: There’s nothing mystical about the FF or even Starbuck’s return and her discovery of her “double” on Erf. Occam’s Razor everyone, the simplest answer is probably correct. The only thing is, I have no idea what the simplest explanation might be.

Amen to all that.

I’m with that. But I still feel very strong about advanced technology. If you could learn to traverse another dimension you would appear to be a god to someone incapable of such a thing.

Sorry, just noticed that bkitty beat me to the punch! I agree with you, bkitty!

How many here think the new Caprica series will have some ‘answers’ and insight to this? I bet that’s another trick up their sadistic sleeves! lol!

No! No! We are brainstorming here! All are welcome in the liiight! I’ve done it, too! lol! Keep those ideas comin’! /RDM

An S7 would seem like a god to a “primitive” human.

Considering that one of the previews for Caprica deals with what is essentially downloading for humans I will bet that you are spot on. But I think that it will explain the origins of such things a bit more in depth. I would hate to think that I would have to wait until Caprica hits in order to know exactly what Starbuck is.

I’m not saying advanced technology won’t have some bearing on all of it, it will have to, but I have yet to see anything mystical that wasn’t a dream sequence. Even the sort of out there mystical prophecies and sooth-saying has had some kind of scientific basis within the show’s canon.

I know. I just meant, even the Roslin jump dreams and “on the river” could be explained as advanced tech given the cylon projection tech.

I’m not completely ready to give up Cat & Starbuck’s connection yet. Perhaps Cat has something to do with Starbuck 2.0. I’m thinking Cat was picked up by the white-light ships from the original BSG and then she came back to help Starbuck become Starbuck 2.0. They could have even used the genetic material from the cylon-taken ovary at the baby-factory on Caprica to help with the physical body. The white-light’s could have done the rest, including the trip back from erf/earth and the new Viper.

We now know that Cylon tech enables its Basestars (and other ships with FTL capacity as well - presumably) to travel THREE times as fast as Colonial tech.

So - for reasons totally unknown to me - does it work factually that Cylons could have gathered up the wrecked Viper and Starbuck’s body, transported them to CE to be found by the humans, while that was going on (or even before) used the ovary taken from her, cloned her, messed with her memory (similar to the FF?), zipped back to where The Fleet was, put her in a duplicate Viper and VOILA!

Just factually - does this work? Nevermind the who exactly, and why stuff.

Hehe! Newhart dream sequence! J/K

Wouldn’t simplest be that she was cloned?

When Anders said that he used to play that song for his girlfriend was that girlfriend Starbuck maybe? Is there a resurrection ship somewhere that isn’t churning out S7’s, but rather Erflings long since dead (except Kara who was recently deadified).

She is either a clone from when they took her Ovary at “The Farm”, or she is downloaded into new body (Starngely with exact same tatoos she had when she died, so someone had to ink her unless she really didn’t die, but of course we think she’s found her previous body).

I think whatever properties on Earth made it possible for the FF to be “reborn” are responsible for Starbuck. Still don’t think she’s a cylon. She’s brought death to what everyone thinks they know about who they are. What is a human anymore? Who came first, cylon or human? I’ve been asking this question for two years. We can’t use our own understanding of the laws of nature to understand this.

That’s all fine and good except why would the “white-light ships from the original BSG” have anything to do with the new show considering nothing else from the old show has anything to do with the new show?

Considering the tattoos, maybe Starbuck didn’t die, nor did she ever escape the farm, but rather her clone did and it’s the clone Lee saw die, and original Starbuck finally turned up again to tell Lee she’d been to Earth. I’d say that’s the closest to “simplest explanation” I can come up with. In fact, that’s almost so simple I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it until just now.

It’s just so darn inconceivable. The only thing that pops into my head is she said herself; “A cylon fighter dies and it’s knowledge and skills download to a new fighter”. She’s supposedly the best Viper pilot and like all flight training it takes years to get that good, so if her body (any one of them) did die then the cloned one or next one had to have that skill and her reflexes downloaded into it. If the cylons perfected the tech to download human brains and memories etc… into new human bodies it would make sense to me, but other than that she almost has to be a cylon (of some sort) to download her abilities.

Or it is a setup. The body in the viper could have been anyone in a blonde wig, and we will never know because she burned the evidence. Cottle can’t DNA test the corpse now. And how many times did cylons in the hospital see her tags and ring? Or Leoben in the doll house? Dozens while she was out? Easy to make a copy while she was unconcious.

so then do you (cassiopia) think that leoban was acting when he reacted to finding Kara’s corpse and he’s just trying to screw with her head even more. Cause I for one was convinced that he’s just as much in the dark as Kara and the rest of us.

She’s the first reborn human cloned from the Farm.

A cylon, of a kind. Increasingly everybody seems to be a cylon.

If cloned from the farm, Cavil and Samuel must know about Erf, otherwise there is no connection.

A sideways thought: when she died in her viper the ghost raider nabbed her as she ejected (unlikely as euphoric and ready to go as she was) or it ejected her. The missing 2 months have her in a goo bath being healed/repaired whilst they build a viper. Which means the whole bit is a Cavil faction ruse.

I dunno. I have rarely been correct.

I’ve thought along the same lines, then the question arises - how come this is freaking out Leoben? Shouldn’t he know all this?
