Keara - Those are awesome! I would post pictures of my vacation but all we ever do is go to Luxemburg, WI to my sister-in-law’s diary farm. Believe me, no one wants to see pictures of me scraping the alley in the barn or feeding the critters…
Raises hand sheepishly I would
Fruit and cookies. Was it post meal? If so, I don’t see the problem.
I wonder if I could do “smell-o-vision” - that would really get you into the experience!
Kinda sticks around a while, doesn’t it? Hows about Scratch-n-sniff photos?
Officially, we were there to attend Lumos, but we went a few days early so we could enjoy the Las Vegas area. We’re not really into the casino thing, other than touring them to gawk at the opulence. Here are some outdoor pics from LV.
Hoover Dam. It was about 130 degrees F on the top of the dam that day.
I was amazed by the contrast between the greens of this golf course and the surrounding landscape.
Red Rock Canyon
Wow. I’ve really gotta take a trip there sometime.
I actually have better St. Thomas pics somewhere but I can’t find them. St. Thomas is my favorite island. I have been there on cruises several times and it always takes my breath away. Enjoy! (This is my last set of photos for now, I swear.)
There were lots of strays on the street. I just thought this made a sweet and sad picture.
Nick Maley, is an artist and was a former special effects master. He calls himself the Yoda Guy.
My favorite view of St. Thomas…I love the little white houses dotting the hills. Sigh.
Some other cool pics ive taken that are kinda artsy like
This was my light board on the cruise ship i worked on. It was a little dusty.
And my sound guys sound board. Not nearly as cool as my light board
A fountain in San Juan taken just as dusk set in. I love this pic cause i accidentally made the photo look like a painting. But its a happy accident
This is one of the coolest/scariest stair cases i’ve ever seen. It was at a little hotel/restaurant (Thai food, in Mexico, run by Italians)/bar in Costa Maya, Mexico. The stairs lead up to a little room that you could rent for like 25 a night. I walked the stairs a little drunk i must admit…
This is a photo of the sun setting over St. Thomas. It kinda looks like the sun is exploding over the horizon
Just having some fun with exposure times and movement of the camera
And just a fun one of the time i got to see a shuttle launch. We were 3 miles a way and i was zoomed all the way in so please forgive the blurriness
Hmmmm - hope the beer made up for the food…
On the contrary (well the beer was good and cheap $1 Modelo Negros ) But it was some of the best Thai food i have ever had. Green Curry shrimp. The shrimp was huge fresh caught that day (Costa Maya is a fishing village) And like 10 of them in the meal. Awesome fresh baked bread. and killer Chocolate cheese cake. All that and like 4 or 5 beers for under 20 bucks (Crew prices). It was the best secret location that the crew kept away from the passengers and was the meet up place when more than one ship was in port.
So, did you work on a ship that left out of Port Canaveral??? I’ve left from there many times. I’m trying to think what ships leave from Canaveral and go to San Juan and Mexico…
No. I was out of Miami and San Juan. I worked for Royal Caribbean on the Navigator, Explorer, and the Adventurer (all of the Seas).
RC? No craaaaaap. I got back about 2-3 weeks ago from a cruise on RC. Went to Bermuda on the Explorer. I’ve been on the Explorer twice and the Navigator(I believe…) once.
Coming out of the harbor in Bayone, NJ (I stopped in to say sup to GR before leaving)
Explorer docked in Bermuda
I believe the Parliament Building in Bermuda, either that or a City Hall. Think it’s Parliament though
Obligatory towel monkey
Thats my SHIP!!! It was one of the best crews i worked for but the worst room i lived in. My cubicle at my office is bigger than my room was. I was the Lighting Guy for the Ice Show in Studio B. You know the one that you kinda of had to take alot of Acid to understand. Or some Chamalla if you will
Yeah went to that show…was actually entertained. By ice skating. That didn’t involve sticks and pucks and ripping each others heads off.
I mean hell you gotta give them props for doing jumps and craaaap with the boat rockin and movin
Here are some pics from a trip to the Galapagos Islands a couple of years ago…
Marine iguana basking by the surf
Biodiversity
Inside of a tortoise
Me and a new friend
Marine iguana tracks
Family of boobies (shhh…don’t tell GR). In the background is the small island of Daphne Major. If you ever read Beak of the Finch (one of the best popular science books around) you’ll know that island well.
Male frigate birds showing off
Park ranger truck with Darwin’s finch
I love how content that Sea Lion looks.
