Season 4.5 is Very Disappointing...

Clap, Clap, Clap…

You are saying exactly what I have been feeling about this plot line. The head characters need to be explained. There is so much more that I want to know but I will be happy with these things.

Who or what are all the Head beings?
What is the deal with Kara?
What is the deal with the opera house?
What exactly is the cycle and who is guiding the cycle to its end?
Was that Erf or Earth?
What is the deal with Hera, is she the first Hylon or what?
How have people who are not Cylon been able to see the projections and or Head Beings?

BAHAHAHAhahahaha!

Alan Sepinwall did an interview with RDM a while back and he asked him a list of things that needed to still be revealed. So how much has already been revealed?

I thought it was a great ending, but I jotted down a list of things that still had to be dealt with. I’m wondering, without you giving it away, whether these things are going to be addressed or whether these are things that we’re thinking a lot more about than you were.

[COLOR=“White”]Do you have a list?

Yeah.

Okay.

Obviously, the identity of the final Cylon, we will find this out?

Yeah. [Answered]

The origin and nature of the Final Four and how they’re different from the rest of them?

Yes.[Answered]

The origin of the rest of the skinjobs?

Yes.[Answered]

What happened to Earth and what happened to the 13th Colony?

Yes.[Answered]

Who, if anyone, is orchestrating all of this?

Basically, yeah. I don’t know if it’s going to be wrapped up in a neat bow. The show has an answer for it, whether it’s a satisfying answer, I don’t know.[Could be seen as Cavil orchestrating things, but there is still a lingering question due to the Head characters. Not Answered Yet]

Will “All this has happened before and it will happen again” be explained in some way?

Yes.[Sort of Answered]

The opera house?

Yes. [Not Answered Yet]

What happened to Kara when she went through the Malestrom?

Pretty much.[Other than the fact that she found her dead body-Where did the viper come from? Not Answered Yet]

Identity and nature of the “head” characters?

Yes. [Not Answered Yet]

Tigh and Six’s baby, and whether that means Cylons can breed?

Yes. That’s not a “yes” to whether they can breed – the question will be answered. [Answered]

The fate of Boomer and whether there are other 1’s, 4’s and 5’s floating out there?

Yes.[Answered]

Roslin’s health?

Yes.[Answered] [/COLOR]

I’ll go with you on the religion issue altogether, Armando. And that’s one pivotal issue that we shall (and should) be left thinking about after the last curtain falls.

Wearing a beret, dancing to Frankie Avalon music and taking dictation from the movie admiral - Walter Pigeon.

By the way MST3K fans may recall Crow destroying Gyspy’s good mood by pointing out that Basehart was NOT the admiral in the movie - Pigeon was.

Wait a minute - DO WE HAVE A PIGEON METAPHOR WITH BSG? Is there a Seaview Galactica tie in?

I won’t be mad either - just disappointed. Too old to get mad over TV shows - and certainly am not going to get mad about one as great as BSG.

Old Timer…
I don’t think the LOK matter… And if they do that’s going to be in Caprica I bet…

They have set up the things they are going to deal with-
Kara.
Watchtower.
Head people.
The future of our characters.

Looks like Hack&Slashtook a big piece of red tape, walked down the middle of the forums placed the tape on the ground and said “pick a side!”

Look, I have already voiced my displeasure at the writing which I totally feel has not lived up to the first 2 and a half seasons. I mean come on they (the writers) did not even know who the final 4 let alone 5th would be until late in the series. Sorry but that just reeks of rushed plot lines and weak writing. The series went from realistic (I use the term loosely) to WTF (for lack of better words) at the drop of a hat.

Some of you may not care if things get that are major plot lines are answered. But there are a lot of us who do. I don’t expect everything to be wrapped in a pretty little bow, or have everything explained to me like a 4 year-old. But I’m also not willing to give the writers a free pass out of blind fanboizm. The only real truth that has really been revealed is that the writing since the first couple of seasons has been sub par and rushed. I don’t know maybe they are trying to save some things for the Craprica (as it looks so far, sorry the preview looked okay but I’m not a fan of soap operas, I hope I’m wrong)

As for the people who say they care more about what happens to the characters we have come to love. I feel the same way. In fact it’s the only reason I continue to watch the show. I want to see what happens to them. That feeling of wanting to know has been magnified, because it’s late in the 4th quarter, 4th down and we are on the goal-line with one last play to end the game! With the series ending we are going to want to see if our favorites live or die. But I still would like answers to sub plots that have been built up, pushed on us time and time again ie; Head folks.

All I hope that the series does not end with the whole story being the figment of some child, monkeys or mental patient’s imagination. Or a Space Snow globe sarcasm :stuck_out_tongue:

Hear, hear. I’ know I’m coming off as bitter or pissed off. I’m not.OT you totally, hit the nail on the head. I just don’t want to be disappointed and sadly I feel it’s heading there.

And the Pigeon’s name is Walter.

And the real OT’s will recall that, as Adm. Nelson, he smokes - CIGARS - OMG. Adm. Nelson is the jealous god! (Don’t you love this forum?)

BTW what is Barbara Eden’s connection to the survivor Actor Michael Ansra. I know it does anyone else?

OOPPS sorry for hitting send to many times.

OOPPS sorry for hitting send to many times.

Excuse me here but I am a little bit miffed so I will write this reply free form, I am not going to even take the time to check it. Why because I just need to vent.

I am sorry but I feel we need an explination to, at the very least, the major plot lines. Am I complaining, sure i am. I have the right to complain. I loved this show and followed each episode like a faithful fan, but somehow I feel like we are getting half written episodes with no real glue to hold any piece of this together. There are two more hours and that is it. I mean come on, what is with all the “mumble, mumble drama frack”. What happened? did they just write these last 9 episodes as a joke. This last episode was just a mushed up stack of pure dribble. Ok I get it Gieus sucked even before the War, Kara was with Zak, Lee was a drunken bird chaser, Roslin lost her family, yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah. Who cares about any of that? I mean we already knew this, it was told to us through-out the show. I could go on pointing out just what makes me upset but you know what, as of right now, I am not alone. There are plenty of viewers who feel just like me.

“You will know the truth” no fracken way…

Do you want to know the truth? Well let me spoil it for you. ( not really a spoiler just the stuff that has been revealed that makes the plot line so transparent that you can drive a Basestar through it.)

[b]Galactica blows up taking out Cavil, Roslin dies before, low and behold, they find the perfect world, our Earth. A large part of the people who go on the mission to rescue Hera die. Giass Fracken Baltar does something more heroic and lasting than he has ever done before and more than likely dies. We never understand the whole story of Kara and we never will. The head charactors are part of a larger program kept in place to end the cycle by merging humans and Cylons, and those who can see them can do so because they have a part of them that is left over from a time when the cycle had happened in the past. Oh and finally, we are the result of the Humans and Cylon’s that came to our Earth.

What the Frack happened to BSG? :frowning:

[/b]

To be honest, this voyage into the vacuum of vacuous writing leaves me wishing I was an admiral of an aging Battlestar… Not so I could have a paint-fight with a bulkhead or even cry every other episode (which I feel like doing every time I see Olmos cry… and not out of pity… but because I’d rather be watching Galactica 1980…)

I’d like to ram my Battlestar into Universal Pictures - who ruined the 1970’s series and allowed these chump writers to run this Re-imagined series into the ground.

Hahahahaaa… so true.

Craprica!!! Hahahaaa… that’s rich!

And no, you’re probably not wrong. It’s very likely that it will suck.

What better way to pre-condition the BSG fans into watching their crummy show than to dumb them down to it’s crumminess by ending BSG on a crummy note…

Lower their expectations and it’ll be great, right?

How many Star Trek: The Next Generation fans were compelled to watch DS-9 and Voyager simply because they bore the name “Star Trek”?

As for the people who say they care more about what happens to the characters we have come to love. I feel the same way. In fact it’s the only reason I continue to watch the show. The piano player, the pigeon, the crotchety old man, and Rosalin’s shower did nothing in the way of answering any of these questions. Instead of answering key questions everyone’s desperate to know, they introduce new characters that I, for one (though I don’t appear to be the only one), couldn’t give a frack about.

Ron, if you’re reading this thread… you could have answered soooooo many things by now.

All I hope that the series does not end with the whole story being the figment of some child, monkeys or mental patient’s imagination. Or a Space Snow globe sarcasm :stuck_out_tongue:

Fass, you a betting man? I bet you $5.00 that Adama cries at least once more during the grande finale.

The very same thing that happens in relationships between many men and women in love. They’re young and beautiful. They meet and it’s love at first sight. They go out on a few dates and put their best foot forward. They begin to love one another’s idiosyncrasies and cute little annoyances, too. They meet one another’s families, move in together and decide to get married…

Then she discovers he’s an abusive alcoholic, he discovers she suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder, they get fat and lazy, the house becomes a mess, they have children…

All this has happened before.

what, that she betrayed him and took Kirk’s side after K rescued her from being sexually assaulted by moptop Chekov in Day of the Dove?

kidding–I know they were married and that she didn’t play Mara. it was Susan something…Howard?

100th post on this thread!!!

That’s 100 posts in less than 24 hours!!!

Yay for Hack!!!:stuck_out_tongue:

Armando and Starbutt (and Kappa and MissMuffet and Wash) have said things that I agree with more than some other things here. I used to feel like I needed pressing! answers! to questions! But at this point, I’m very pleased with just sitting with the characters and being comfortable with ambiguity and loose ends. Not everyone has to be that way, of course, but I’m honestly quite disappointed to see many people either a) throwing this ep off without taking into account that it’s really not supposed to be seen along and b) resorting to much more negative and defensive language than we are used to seeing around here (at least in implications).

My suggestion? We bite our tongues until next week. That doesn’t mean that we will, but it might help us to see Daybreak in the light in which we were meant to see it.

What happened to Walter Pigeon?

And I’d just like to echo Armando - this discussion feels like it’s on the verge of nastiness. We can disagree without being mean, so let’s watch that. We like to be nice here at the GWC

There are so many posts because there are so many who feel like we got the rug pulled out from under us. I defended this show through all the “Hiatus”, I defended this show through the writers strike, I defended this show up until Ron Moore stated in one of his podcasts that there was never a real story arc and that every story thread was sewn together after the fact.

My final straw fell when I found out that the Colonies where all in the same star system. What the frack?

I am no longer going to defend this show. If somehow they pull a miracle out of their @#@#'s I will proclaim my shame for not believing, but i don’t have faith in any miracles.
