I would like to pose a question to those of you who have seen Toy Story 3, what is PIXAR going to do about their Spanish Language version of the movie?

Spanish Buzz is a very central part to the finale, how do you write your way around that? And how are Latin countries going to feel about your gags? Or will they even translate at all?

They’ll translate. Buzz was written as a Spaniard. I imagine it’ll still translate in Latin America. Spain, on the other hand…

(Maybe the Spanish language version has Buzz turning into an American with Tim Allen’s voice?)

Andrew Garfield…

Studio Ghibli, the wonderful animation studio that has produced many wonders directed by Hayao Miyazaki, is close to releasing a new film version of Mary Norton’s fantasy novel The Borrowers.

We’ve seen two brief teasers for the film, The Borrower Arrietty, and now there’s a third. The quality here is far better than the previous two clips, and while the text and narration is entirely in Japanese, the animation looks lovely.
Hayao Miyazaki wrote the script for the film based on Norton’s novel. Directing is 36-year old Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who served as a key animator on Miyazaki’s classics Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away. He’s the youngest feature director in Studio Ghibli history. Miyazaki has long wanted to adapt the novel, and is overseeing the production.

The basic plot description goes like this:

14-year-old Arrietty and the rest of the Clock family live in peaceful anonymity as they make their own home from items “borrowed” from the house’s human inhabitants. However, life changes for the Clocks when a human boy discovers Arrietty.

Previous clips have shown primarily exteriors. The last teaser trailer showed Arrietty gathering goods from outside the human home, and the moment where she is spied by the young boy. This teaser is set primarily within the walls of the house, in which the Clocks have crafted their home. The design looks like vintage Ghibli: warm, lived-in, cluttered but beautiful, with a softly impressive color sense.

Thankfully the quality of this clip is high enough that you can really see how detailed the environments will be, and that the figure animation is as clean and natural as any film directed by Miyazaki.

This should make Talos happy-

And Back to the Future turned 25 on Friday… “GREAT SCOTT!”

It does indeed. I hope this gets off the ground.

James Callis, the new addition to “Eureka”, takes the center stage in the newest poster of season 4. Callis joins the cast as physicist Dr. Grant, a former Eurekan whose very unexpected return is the cause for great concern, and whose reasons as to when and why he originally left Eureka are shrouded in mystery and secrecy.

The fourth season is not only spiced with a new cast member but also the return of guest stars such as Wil Wheaton, Jaime Ray Newman, Jamie Kennedy and Matt Frewer. According to the press release, “BIG changes alter everyone’s lives after a cataclysmic time shift turns their world upside down.”

“Eureka” premieres July 9 accompanied by new SyFy series “Haven”.

It was previously reported that “Eureka” is once again confirmed for San Diego Comic Con although date is not yet known. Co-executive producer Amy Berg said the panel will be moderated by Allison Scagliotti, who plays Claudia on “Warehouse 13” while the “Warehouse 13” panel will be moderated by Neil Grayston, who plays Fargo on “Eureka.”

The question is, will they be good without Gibson?

Tom Hardy played Shinzon in ST:Nemesis, I think would do O.K. in the Mad Max role. Depends upon how well it is written.

Lucas has sent a “cease and desist” letter to these guys now:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/gaming.gadgets/07/06/light.saber.lucas/index.html?hpt=C2

This kind of crap makes me all stabby.

It’s part of the culture now, George. Be proud.

Yeah but you knew this was going to happen with all the gadget blogs describing them as lightsaber looking or calling them “perhaps the first consumer laser weapon”…

Then, Lucas should sue the bloggers and news organizations rather than the company. The company never portrayed their product as a lightsaber.

The bloggers and news media aren’t the ones making $$'s off the product. Their reports on the product with the comparison to the lightsaber only helped the company.

When coverage in the blogosphere increased orders, he said, Wicked altered the laser to add safety features. A safety lock feature prevents accidentally turning on the laser, and an extra lens reduces its power by 80 percent until it’s removed.

The company knows they are making sales from SW fans due to the lightsaber comparison or they wouldn’t have made the above changes for safety.

Lucas is protecting (and always will protect) his trademarks aggressively…they should have expected this.

“The VIPER - A Real Live Capped Crime Fighter”

Yes, the Viper. He’s a man police found patrolling the public square with an arsenal of equipment, including plastic sticks and ninja throwing stars. His goal? Find crime and report it to police. Officers spotted him outside the wheel last week.

Oh noes! They revealed his secret identity!!

There are no pictures?!? :frowning:

There’s a video at the top…

Edit: Here you go.

Best part of the clip (IMHO) -

“So…what does he do?”

“I dunno—walks around, lookin’ for crimes.”

  Awesome!

I like the video in the original link better.

“I think he needs a job…”

Edit: Here’s a link to it.

He shouldn’t be allowed to be that aggressive. Hell, lawyers should be disbarred for this type of crap. This kind of creep is why documentary filmmakers are terrified to film anything these days unless they have a studio behind them to clear any brand that might show up in their films.
