Presidential Election Frak Party

CNN just called the election, it’s over. Ladies and gentlemen, President-Elect Barack Obama.

Yyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssss!

It was pretty funny. My mom called to tell me about the state I live in, and then my sister called to tell me CNN called my state for Obama, and then I heard a ton of shouting outside, because Barack Obama is going to be our next president!!!

Oprah! Oprah! Oprah! Oprah! Oprah!!!

Oops. I meant,

Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama!!!

Woot! Europe will love us again!!!

They’re calling the election for Obama.

And I’m now full of hope.
I’m not a bully, and I can’t wait for my country to stop acting like one.
If any other country promoted a “Bush Doctrine” of preemptive war, we would be arming all our nukes in defense. It will be nice to be taken seriously, and to be trusted by the rest of the world again.

I’m now full of hope.
Only the greedy or cruel look away when others suffer.
When the rich have to pay more, they look for new tax shelters, they go on fewer vacations, they postpone redoing the kitchens in their summer homes…
When the poor have to pay more, they ask their kids to put themselves to bed during their third shift, they don’t do Christmas, they wear their coats to bed…
Oh, and they die.
They die from the cold, from hunger, from violence, disease and neglect.
I’m ready for a change.

I’m now full of hope.
America used to be a land of the free that welcomed others and the diversity they brought.
Recently though, a pushy minority has decided that the only freedoms allowable are the ones they agree with. They would tell people what they can teach, who they can pray to and who they can love. And predominantly old white man are telling women what they can do with their bodies.
I can’t wait to yell “you’re not the boss of me!”, and mean it.

We are living history.
Just as my parents spoke of how they voted for Kennedy, I will be be able to tell my kids that I voted for the first black president.
And hopefully they will look at me and say “So?”, because to them, the possibility had always existed.
America is a much better place today than it was yesterday.
Now let’s just not screw it up.

<dances a jig>

This is a great day.

I bow to your eloquence. You said it so much better than I ever could. Thank you.

check out the front page of the new york times, people. it nearly makes me cry (happy tears): OBAMA (huge letters): Racial Barrier falls in huge turnout.

“Barack Hussein Obama was elected the 44th president of the United States on Tuesday.”

blub.

who are the real americans now, Sarah Palin? Yeah, thanks a lot.

(my apologies to those who voted for the McCain/Palin ticket in good faith, but this feels damn good right now…)

This is a day I honestly thought I would never see and I can’t even express how thrilled I am right now.

and there was much rejoicing…yay

Don’t count them out yet. They can do a lot more damage between now and January. :frowning:

And that’s assuming they decide to accept the election results and relinquish power.

McCain concedes! w00t!

Yup. Now we have a middling Democrat as President-Elect. I voted for the guy, but whoop-de-frakin-do. Let’s see if he shows better vision than he did on FISA, etc.

Shhhhhhhhhhh you’re reminding me why I was so angry this summer… let me at least relish tonight!! :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s always a possibility that Bush and Cheney moves up into the mountains, forms a militia and fights the government. With Chuck Norris’s and Steven Segal’s help.

This concession speech is the best written and best delivered speech McCain has ever given. I’m actually moved by this.

Anyone else have suddenly loud neighbors tonight??

I was just thinking the same thing.
