It’s obviously the Doomsday Machines from the similarly named TOS episode, except this appears to represent Vendetta’s (by Peter David) conjecture that they were built to fight the Borg, and that’s them destroying the Borg version of Cybertron.

Yup, you got the Doomsday Device part right. I made this up myself for to use in the Star Trek FASA RPG. It’s what I call the Citadel of Loquar. It’s a huge “space station” and it’s the orgin of the Doomsday Devices. As you can see there are three empty slots, and therefore three Doomsday Devices missing and at large (well one was obviously destroyed by Kirk in TOS, and another destroyed by Captain Hildric of the USS Republic in my RPG…)

This is the Chandley class. To have a fair game against most klingon ships, this was the most well rounded federations ship. Fed ships were REALLY over powered! Maybe even realisticly so… but it made for poor game mechanics. If a D7 fought your Enterprise class, it could never win. There was no real even match fo the Enterprise. Either the L24 or Nova were TOO powerful, or the klingon and romulan cruisers were weak.
If a chandly fought a D-7, you got a fair fight!
