Hey how’s the recoil for that beast, compared to ME2? It was always Octavia’s (my Shep) favorite gun, but the long range accuracy was for crap.
There is a stabilizer mod available for all guns that decreases recoil by 70%. With or without, there’s hardly any kick up with the Revenant compared to most common rifle the Avenger. It is not a magic gun, you still need to fire from cover and only at mid-range for effective fire. But being a large caliber gun, it does moderate damage against shields, armor and barriers equally which makes it unique in the demo. Add disruptor or incendiary ammo and a Revenant is not half bad at suppressing baddies grouped abreast or cramped up in a hallway.
I believe the SMG Hornet has the craziest recoil, you wind up shooting at the ceiling if you don’t pull down while firing and readjust after every burst.
It’s easy to see already that ME3 is the best of all three Mass Effect games solely in terms of guns - variety, diversity and tactics such a big bouncy arsenal brings.
The MP demo shuts down when the game ships. There are only days left to play for free. A lot of players now have multiple characters at max level… 20? It’s the best time to dip your toe in gold challenges. Gulp.
With the Revenant you get a lot better results if you use short bursts. At longer ranges I do pretty well aiming and using 3-5 round bursts with just a half second break in between. It’s like full auto with every 6th round removed.
This is mainly for UK people, but I thought I’d let everyone know.
Game.co.uk are one of the big retailers for games here and for some reason they were able to get the collectors edition of ME3 exclusively. I’m not a big fan of them, but I want the CE and I’m willing to pay for it so I had little choice. They were able to supply the extra N7 items (the assault rifle and the armour) also. About 5 minutes ago I got an email saying my pre-order has been cancelled. I pre-ordered it back in June (I’m pretty sure I mentioned it earlier in this thread) so I’m not too happy. A little digging around has shown that everyones pre-order for ME3 with this retailer has been cancelled (CE and normal, online or instore). There has been rumours about Game going under recently and now I hope they burn.
Thankfully another retailer Play.com has stepped up and are now offering pre-orders of the CE. I have had good experience with them in the past and they are probably second only to amazon as my favourite online retailer. So I’ve quickly placed one. Although it looks like I’m screwed on the N7 assault rifle and armour. I thought I was set getting almost all of the bonus content (ok chances are I’ll not use it all but it’s the principle of the thing) This was a complete shambles. How the hell can something like this happen only a week before release. Exclusivity for special editions is a bad idea and if you must give exclusivity please give it to Amazon, I’d much rather order from them
UPDATE: Amazon.co.uk are now stocking it, I’ve placed an order with them also. I’ll decide which one to keep next week once all the bonus content gets sorted out. Plus I imagine there’s a fair chance that some of the retailers might take too many orders.
Maybe Electronic Arts can help AMC restore The Walking Dead’s 35% budget cut for next season. One vote for a live action EvilFemShep premiering next Sunday night.
Bioware staff writer for ME1 and ME2, now senior writer for ME3, Patrick Weekes explains ME3’s new reputation system. Safe to read, no story spoilers.
Bioware Blog: Reputation in Mass Effect 3 3/1
You know, that makes a hell of a lot of sense.
Oh, and Nova looks like a new Vanguard power (that anyone who played Vanguard on the demo probably already knows about).
guys…words simply cannot describe how awesome this is…‘official’ launch trailer, entirely in game footage…I’ve just watched it on loop 5 times…and got goosebumps every time
taken from throughout the game and hence incredibly spoilery. Only the best spoilers come from Syfy, I mean Bioware. I heard the bass beat wafting through the neighborhood while I was outside today. XBox bachelors w/ 5.1 sound no doubt. Philistines! But, yeah, what a stirring trailer!
Late breaking demo news and… balance changes. (Remember I was whining about the randomness of these newfangled ME3 loot drops) I was wondering why I got the highly prized Asari Adept Willy Wonka gold ticket in my recruitment kit tonight. Mystery solved.
Hi everyone!
We hope you’ve been having a great time with the multiplayer demo for Mass Effect 3. If you haven’t had an opportunity to try it out, don’t miss your chance: this weekend is the final weekend of the multiplayer preview and the servers will be taken offline on the morning (PST) of Monday, March 5. The Single-player demo will continue to be available.
We also wanted to let everyone know that we’ve been listening to your feedback, and during the final weekend of the multiplayer demo we will be increasing the chances of unlocking rare race/class combinations. This adjustment to unlocks will carry forward into the main game.

And how. Whenever you hear a woman shouting YYYYEEAAAARRRGGHHH in multiplayer, that’s the default female Vanguard ripping off a nova. And it’s a comradely idea to briefly check her well being, because she’s just dropped all her shields, trading in that energy for a biotic attack. A quieter “yyyyeeaaarrrgghhh” accompanies a Biotic Charge - shields stay up with that one. Or is it a barrier?
Nova is roughly equivalent to Sentinel tech armor detonation and the Asari Adept’s biotic melee attack (which I don’t the name of). They are stationary area of effect special attacks. They do work through walls. Depending on how you choose force bonuses when leveling up… these three can be extremely powerful kinetic attacks, like a super maxed out biotic Throw. WHAM.
You want at least one of these desperate measures available within your squad on silver challenges. I’m guessing its mandatory to survival in gold challenges.
I took Friday off to have a three day weekend to play this…starting to think I should have taken at least Thursday AND Friday off…this is going to be amazing
I have Friday off as well, a nice long ME3 session should be great. Of course Friday is the day of release here which is kind of annoying. I’ve got two copies pre-ordered due to the massive confusion here (there’s a 100+ page thread on the bioware forum all about it) so hopefully one of them will arrive early. Pre-orders have been known to arrive a day early, I just hope the post isn’t delayed, having to wait until Monday would be quite annoying.
I actually took the week off to play game, mostly because the government requires me to take 7 consecutive days off because I work in the banking industry but i figured that having Monday off would give me time to fit in my doctor’s appt and finish off anything I haven’t finished in my last ME2 run through before the midnight launch then I would have Tuesday and the rest of the week to play through ME3 a couple of times without any interruptions besides doing my laundry.
Attempting to break into the top 50 on the United States leaderboard on this last day of the demo. Currently ranked #71. Ominously… neither I or any of my friends list squaddies have ever completed a gold challenge - although there are YouTube videos made by those who have. The task seems to involve everyone loading up with widow makers and hiding in map corners. Alas I still haven’t gotten one. Got the Carnifex though, a large caliber accurate heavy pistol, packs a bigger punch than a stock Mk I sniper rifle.
The best ME game in terms of combat but certainly the most demanding at higher difficulties. GLHF this week!
Well, I popped open the 3 month Gold I got when I bought a hard drive for my X-box and did a bit of multiplayer. Is the Veteran pack really worth the additional cost? I appreciate getting more of each of the things on the arrow keys, but quantities and unlocking Turian Sentinel on one of the two seemed to be the only differences.

I think LA is toast.
Really? We don’t get to punch her out again?
Oh wait, that’s the other one. Emily was the good one.
Who was the dumbass who came up with the idea to have different release dates? I know its only a few days difference, but its going to be difficult to avoid spoilers. If I’m very lucky at least one of my orders will ship today and I’ll have it tomorrow. Apparently there was some agreement between the retailers and EA not to ship until today, another dumbass idea. Ship it as early as possible, damn you.
They built-in a release date check so even if you get it early, you won’t be able to play it until your official release date.
