Mass Effect News!

Here is the full trailer they released today. I better find myself a shrink because I think this game might break me. Anyone else get a Whedonesque vibe?

Is there going to people in the GWC crew that are going to play multiplayer. I really want to try it out, but I want to play with people who will be nice if I am really bad at it. Mass Effect is the main reason I bought my Xbox 360, so I am soo excited about the game. I am trying to stay away from any major spoilers. Do anyone have an “uncanny valley” feeling the the little girl in the trailer. I got quite a bit creeped out by her. Can’t wait for next weeks podcast about it.

14 days people. 14 days. I might not make it!

Ashley’s legs look a bit scrawny to me, but that’s my only (small) nitpick on the trailer

Uch if you could take that gif and replace Take Earth Back with “WE’RE COMING MOTHERFUCKERS” I’d love you forever

On the PC version, no one has yelled at me once even when I deserved it. In fact, hardly anyone talks on vox.

(XBox experience may vary)

I am trying to stay away from any major spoilers.

You can avoid the single player half of the demo and go directly to multiplayer from the main menu. No story spoilers there. ME3 and ME2 combat are essentially the same.

But. The AI is ME3 is vastly improved. “Ruthless and intelligent enemies” isn’t just advertising. I think it’s a good idea to get acquainted with phantoms early on for a less frustrating full game experience. :groucho:

wait that’s suppose to be Ashley from ME1? I just assumed it was a whole new character all together

(to be fair other than this trailer I’ve been avoiding pretty much everything ME3…I didn’t want to make the wait even worse…I’ll watch a ton of it probably a day or two before it comes out)

I would love to play multiplayer on the Xbox but I’m a bit time-constrained. I’m going to be playing the game solo for the bulk of Tuesday and Wednesday but assuming I finish it, we could play multi maybe on Wednesday night (assuming I’m not burned out).

I don’t know if I could play the whole campaign that way due to time issues, sadly. :frowning:

It is Ashley. I’d assume Kaiden’s in it too (depending on what happened in ME1). She’s specifically named in the demo. I think she looks nothing like the ME1 (or 2) Ashley, except maybe the hair color and 80s lip gloss.

Thanks for the offer 5th Horsemen. I will be playing solo on Tuesday too. Got to have my fix. Not sure if want to play obsessively or pace myself to really enjoy since it will be awhile to they come out with a new version. Good to know players are nice on the PC, have heard bad things about some of the Xbox live users.

I don’t know if I could play the whole campaign that way due to time issues, sadly. :frowning:

I thought multiplayer was totally separate from the single player story. i.e. a cool addition onto the core game, but not really part of it.

ah thanks, I didn’t play the single player portion of the demo because I wanted even the intro to be fresh to me when I get it next month =D

Heads up, everybody, tomorrow’s the day they launch Mass Effect 3…into SPACE!!

You can follow search parties progress at Twitter #ME3Space

SF #1 is deemed unreachable at an inaccessible height above ground level at that location. It’s uhhh… treed? Several Tweetists claimed real time tracking has been disabled for it due to safety concerns.

SF #2 is up a cliff according to: IGN Attempts to Get the Mass Effect 3 Space Edition They are to redouble efforts this morning. They said only about 15 people were in the area searching.

I’m level NS 64 on the demo, ranked #7000-ish in the US. Not to toot my own N7 but to illustrate how many people are playing the demo, about a quarter million on the PC alone world wide. Galaxy at War is gonna rock, but I already have a feeling people will be wanting more features than it has. Finally I am at one with the spacebar, i.e. X button on the Xbox controller. It’s an “omni action key”, you’ll HATE it at first. Drell Vanguard and Quarian Engineer characters are rare drops but very much worth the wait. I assume the Galaxy at War gameplay mechanics - unlocking stuff purchased via recruitment kits - are same as the demo.

Do you need to have X-Box Gold in order to get anyone else in your multiplayer games? I haven’t been able to get a character past Wave 1 because no one else joins on my games.

I have a 3 month Gold membership card from when I bought my hard drive that I could use, but I haven’t seen a point in it before.

You need a Gold subscription to do pretty much anything that doesn’t involve paying for content. And some things that DO involve it (Like Netflix). In short, you need it to play online multiplayer.

Yes but hang on to your 3 month credit. A temporary Gold subscription is included with the demo.

Bioware Social Network of Rant and Whinge: Mass Effect 3 demo and Xbox Live update

Isn’t the demo one just for 2 days? So I need to set 48 hours aside for pure multiplayer action as some point in the near future

I’ll be playing the multiplayer on both he 360 and the PS3 for anyone who is looking for someone to play with. I bought the game for both systems but will probably be on the 360 most of the time. I’m on vacation the entire week the game launches so I’ll be on a lot to play multiplayer.

As…you…wiiiiisssshhh…

You rock man! Perfect!

Unlocked the M-76 Revenant in multiplayer - a rare gold drop. What a wonderful all purpose gun that is essentially a M60 machine gun in ME skiffied up clothing. The only thing missing is the belt fed ammo, darn it. In this case, size does matter.

I’m increasingly concerned about this random game mechanic of getting stuff. Reading the dev posts they admit, well, yes this is the way it also works in the full game. Only it’s better because there’s much more stuff to unlock! Say what. But, but, but it is still random! Multiplayer unlocks somehow supply the single player game with its gear, maybe for squaddies but not Shepard?, but they promise there is a alternate single player only method of acquiring gear too. No details on that yet. So… it looks like grinding has arrived in Mass Effect. It will take each and everyone one of us 20-30-40 or more hours to complete the story, but not everyone has time to just grind for gear. I liked saving up money in ME1 to shop for whatever I wanted ever so much better. Now it will be RPG style gambling.
