I’m getting it for the XBox so I don’t think that’s a problem. Also I understand there are ways around the release date check.
I just finished the soundtrack. I was a bit worried when I heard someone different was doing it this time around, but it seems pretty consistent with the other ones. A few weird twists to it that will take some time to get used to, but most of the themes aren’t changed too much. Sort of like the change to the Rohan theme between The Two Towers and Return of the King soundtracks.
OHM Igod! I can’t wear boxers while playing this game, becuase my girlfriends little sister is here and it’s would’t look good!
THe graphics are amazing!!! Glad to have the crew back together!
I can’t import my FemShep from Mass Effect 2. Very sad. I guess I will have to avoid all of the spoilers while I wait for a fix for a rather nasty bug. I am surprised that this one got through testing. Oh well. Back to Skyrim.
I think playing without boxers might look worse
There does seem to be a problem importing any character originally created in ME1. Apparently there’s a convoluted way of doing it, I don’t remember the specifics but it on the bioware forums. It’s a shame they messed it up. I just re-made my Sheppard. I got pretty close, I didn’t want to spend too much time on it as I wanted to start the game
I imported my character from ME1/2, but it couldn’t read the appearance data. I had to re do the face, but there’s a alpha numerical code in one of the boxes that seems to be your face info. I imagine you can type it in, I’m going to open up ME2 and if find that code I’ll snap a pic of it with my phone and try it with ME3.
That’s what I meant, the appearence. All my choices have imported correctly it seems. Hopefully the codes are the same in ME2 and 3. Are the codes shown if you import an ME1 character into ME2. It’s been a while so I don’t remember.
The code that shows in ME2 if you import from ME1 is just a generic preset code. That’s where the issue comes from =/
Weird. My female Shepard that I imported, that I specifically played through ME1 and ME2 with in order to play in ME3, imported with no problems.
Well, there was one problem: Her eyebrows are GREEN. But all the stats were correct.
ah so that’s the issue…pretty annoying, I did my best to recreate my chars’ appearances and while getting them close I can’t seem to get them ‘exact’ and now when I see them talking something I can’t quite comprehend seems off about them
There arent all the same options. Like my dudes hair and nose aren’t in the me3 character creator
that makes sense then, why on earth they decided to do that I have no idea…now I’ve got to tell myself my Shepard had a nose job and decided to try out a new hair style =P
/comes up for air
Damn this game rocks =) Story line is kicking butt and the artwork is fantastic. I don’t remember the Citadel ever looking so dern pretty!
I’ll post more of my impressions in the spoiler thread once I finish the game (been avoiding it until then!)
This is the first game in a long time that I replayed an entire mission because I simply could not live with the outcome.
30 hours in, it’s starting to feel like I’m nearing some sort of endgame.
I have not started playing ME3 yet, but I did install it (PC Version) and check out the face import issue.
The way I understanding it, there are (at least) two problems going on.
Problem #1: There is an error when importing your character from ME2 to ME3, where some of the face variables come in wrong. There is a work around for this, fairly simple for PC users, somewhat more complicated for Xbox users (not sure about PS3). The work around instructions for PC and Xbox are here:
http://social.bioware.com/forums/forum/1/topic/323/index/9247811/3#9249327
PC users can skip the first the first four steps of his instructions, and get the save files from the “Save” director usually located in “My Documents/Bioware”.
Basically what you are doing with this workaround is getting the ME2 “code” for the face of your ME1/ME2 Shepard. Once you have the proper code, you can enter that into the ME3 face creator. Unfortunately the work around skips a few features (hair color, lip color, eye color) but they are easy to fix with a quick look at the original Shepard. If you want to make sure it is exactly the same, open up the ME2 face editor (you have to play through the prologue first to get to it), re-create you’re Shepard there, then use the code generated on the bottom of the screen, and copy that into the ME3 face editor.
Problem #2, the real problem: Upgrades to the graphics and how the faces work in ME3 have made many of the Shepards from ME1/ME2 look different, even using the exact same face code. Unlike problem #1 above, I don’t know if this can be fixed with a patch. Some of the assets used from ME1/ME2 are simply not in the game, or have been drastically changed. Since every Shepard is different, some are looking closer than others, based on how much individual face options were changed for ME3. I see this as a big problem, as I have spent probably 100 hours with the face of MY Shepard. We are human beings are wired to recognize faces, and Bioware did a great job with faces and facial features in ME1/ME2. Looking at the screenshots many have posted comparing the faces of the characters between the games, there are clear differences in ME3, and lots of the characters end up looking like the younger bother/sister or long lost cousin of the characters from the earlier games.

30 hours! Wow. I’m just about 11 hours in, and I already almost restarted a mission because I thought it gave me an outcome I didn’t want. Such is Mass Effect, I guess. I’m actually making quicker decisions about things than I did in previous MEs, I think, for now anyway. Before there were times I’d just pause for 10 minutes or more on a decision because I didn’t want to/know what to choose. Now it’s just a few minutes. So it’s progress. lol.
Oh and this. I asked this earlier in the spoilers thread, but realized this was probably a better place to do it. Do any of you know if it’s possible to remap power buttons on a console for multiplayer? I can’t seem to find the options to do it, and it’s pretty irritating (i’m on ps3).
Yeah. I have an Xbox but I think the process is the same. Hold the button to bring up the power wheel (For me it’s right shoulder) and then use the stick to select the weapon, as if you were going to use it. Don’t let go of the shoulder button, though, and instead look around on the screen. It should tell you how to map a button to that. I don’t remember the exact process, but I believe you hit the button you want to remap. So you highlight, say, Slam (which has no shortcut key) and hit the X button, and now X is mapped to Slam.
If that’s not the process, I am pretty sure that the screen says what the process is. Sadly, I’m not home right now so can’t verify it. But I remapped a power in this version so know the rough details
There’s no power wheel in multi. So no you can’t remap
Yikes!
Maybe set it up in single player and it’ll carry over? That seems to be a huge hole in the setup.
do you only get 3 powers in multiplayer?
