Mass Effect 2 Spoilers Thread

Which i am saying would be a Shepard “Clone”

You sent me on an hour long youtube marathon. I found ashley’s picture, Shepard’s death, Tali’s love scene, and Conrad Verner (I still need to see wrex and Rana Thanoptis).

Then, I found:

//youtu.be/0CRPScZ-FOI

You didn’t see Mordin singing?

//youtu.be/pxrO5-HPIAw

Or Garrius and Tali reminiscing about those elevator rides in ME 1

//youtu.be/0a54Vm1ww8w

Unlike the others, adding Zaeed to your team is easily accomplished just by picking him up. He also has the first available loyalty mission, adding all three of his talents to the mix as early as two missions into the game.

So if you’re not a soldier, the thin firepower from Miranda and Jacob’s paltry Shuriken and Katana can leave you feeling a bit vulnerable and lonely at first when playing at hardcore and insanity. Zaeed’s assault rifle and concussion shot special is a welcome presence. Grunt and Garrus can seem beyond reach if you’re having a tough time of it completing combat missions.

Speaking of which, Hardcore is nasty jump in difficulty from Veteran. But surprisingly Insanity is not noticeably any harder than Hardcore. (Says me ignorantly before running the Horizon gauntlet muhahaha.) You either have a thinner skin or bad guys have better upgrades. Losing shields and armor can happen in a split second if you’re caught flatfooted. Setting course for Horizon…

I think everyone sees Mordin sing. I tried to get garrius and Tali to talk, but eith er it’s a really random occurrence or won’t work unless you’re using a ME1 save. I’ve seen it on youtube though. Maybe it’s not as funny to me since I didn’t play ME1.

However, lots of people seem shocked and pleased with the Legion dance. I’e played through twice and always chat him up, but I’ve never seen it.

Ugh! So, I’m trying to max my paragon bar (again) before doing Samara’s, Jack’s, and Zaeed’s missions. The past two play throughs I used Javelin Missiles Launched N7 mission to boost the bar since the Prima guide (which I paid good money for) says:

“If you are going for Paragon, save the colonists. If you want to keep building your Renegade rating, then let the missile obliterate the colonists while saving the spaceport.”

I was reading http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/N7:_Javelin_Missiles_Launched since that site seems to have a good planetary database (better than Prima’s), and found:

WARNING: The button mapping for the decision in this mission can be confusing. For the Xbox 360, pay close attention to the displayed button mapping near the bottom center of the screen. Your selection is taken not from which option you have hi-lighted, but is instead based on which button you push. (A) saves the industrial area, while (B) saves the residential district. This can easily lead to a player thinking they are saving the residential district by hi-lighting that choice and pressing (A) to make their selection, only to have the game record the player as selecting the industrial complex.

On the PC selecting “Save the Industrial Area” saves the Residential District and vice versa. However, while the journal lists the opposite area as being saved, the mission report lists the option chosen by the player. Also, after choosing which target to save, the game locks you in this mission forever.

The new patch did not address this. I tried saving the residence, but the game reports I saved the space port. Further, the link says:

No option gains any additional Renegade or Paragon points or immediate consequences.

… again followed by @#$%^!

I took screenshots the morality bars before and after the choice is made and I can’t see any changes. Plus, I don’t get any morality notification after the choice is made.

Just a heads up for folks. Anyone has a link with all of the glitches/bugs in the game?

Ive never even heard of that mission.
Ive had a couple CTD’s and a few environment glitches like getting thrown up on a railing when Miranda hit an enemy with slam too close to me, but other than that havent noticed anything. Id think the bioware forums would have plenty of posts on bugs/glitches.

Just finished Engineer, and saved everyone! However, the first 5 levels of Engineer SUCKED because the only power I had was Combat Drone while I maxed Tech Mastery for Paragon. But after that, I’m kinda torn whether Adept is better than Engineer.

An Adept has Singularity which can take out anything except enemies with shields or barriers, mechs, or heavy enemies. Those enemies have to stay still for Singularity to do damage. An Engineer can deal elemental damage which works against everything except enemies with barriers (not many except mostly enemy Engineers and Harbingers). Yet against barriers, an Engineer can use Combat Drones while the other squad mates take out the barrier. So, I’m kinda leaning towards Engineer as favorite. I’m gllad I tried Sentinel and Adept though.

I am still missing Insanity (no, thank you) and Brawler (6 of 20, I’ll go back to a previous save to finish that). So, that’s only 2 (soon to be 1) out of umpteen achievements missing.

One disappointment is I was unable to get the message from Ashley, and the corresponding cutscene before entering the relay. I believe I did everything right. I didn’t get any love scene (I didn’t have any open), it went from the bridge immediately to the Illusive Man. I guess maybe I need a ME1 save for that.

I’m also glad the game is so much shorter than Dragon Age: Origins without being too short. I’ve yet to even finish Dragon Age after 8 start ups, nearly all of the origin stories, and multiple Achievements. Dragon Age almost feels like an MMO next to ME2 because of its grind. Many of the levels and dungeons are way too long (Broken Circle especially). Don’t get me wrong, I love the game and enjoy the frak out of it. It’s just a tad too long to keep my interests and attention. Baldur’s Gate 2 was the same.

Thanks for all the hints and tips everyone. I know I B&M a lot, but I feel I got my money’s worth.

Dunno why I never noticed, but Shepard drinks at bars with his helmet on. Reminds me of Dark Helmet.

Also, the colonist talking with Ash/Kaidan was the one who is liquefied if Normandy saves the crew fast enough.

I take back what I said about insanity. It’s insane. Shepard screams constantly in pain. I had to finish off Jedore by staying outside the room and taking out the tank krogans before entering. The game crashes if a missile flies through the doorway. Enyala that Eclipse merc chased me circling around and around the shipping yard shouting, “Save Lawson for last!” Dantius Towers is tough too. Cover often has bad angles. Choke points with no cover.

Had to post this.

I actually wish Insanity was a little more challenging. If you have incinerate the krogans in that bit are much easier. Stay behind cover, down the krogan immediately and before the next one pops you hit the mech as hard you can then back to the krogan. After that Jedore is cake since she doesnt even engage you one on one. Dantius Towers is a war of attrition since flanking is so hard with such limited cover and space. Love talking with the Salarians tho.

Sorry to hear your pain. I hate glitches I can’t get around. I finished this quest without issue (didn’t even know an issue existed) so obviously this isn’t a universal glitch. I played it through twice to see both endings.

Can you play it through a few times (perhaps drop the difficulty so you can get to the end faster) and try different options and button/highlight combos?

Bioware’s own forums are fairly good for technical issues. There are quite a lot of rants on the forum and helpful hints as well. If the game is buggy, there will no doubt be quite a few “list the bugs” threads. I would search there. If the site search drives you crazy (I can’t figure it out) using Google and search “mass effect community” and then whatever you are interested in. Ie. “mass effect community” and bugs or “mass effect commuity” and glitches or “mass effect community” and Javiln and missles.

Good luck.

I’ve read that the glitch is on both PC and Xbox unless Xbox has a patch that fixed it that the PC patch did not. The bug is so insidious because you may take an action, and the journal records you’ve made that action, but the game actually records the opposite on the Xbox. On the PC, it is flipped. I just avoided the issue by not doing the mission. Same for Ish.

I’m done with the game for now. But for the record, I was already on the easiest difficulty (and, I wished there was an easier one).

Yeah, I dunno what’s different about this game, but I was a master of info and facts for DA:O. Two browser windows full of tabs of guides and tips. I dunno why I didn’t handle ME2 that way. When I searched, there didn’t seem to be the wealth of knowledge DA:O has.

I think it’s because a lot of sites are ME1 based whereas DA:O only has one expansion so far.

But, thanks for the advice.

Just finished!

I chose to continue, curious to do more exploring and talk to crew after the mission. I was so happy everyone survived, but it quickly turned to disappointment when the fish I had so dutifully cared for were the only ones not to survive! Ah well.

Favorite moment(s): pretty much everything involving Joker and EDI.

Joker is pretty hilarious in this one but I still prefer the Asari bartender on Illium for laughs. She cracks me up every time I talk to her.

I haven’t seen any Vanguards charge me, or biotics use throw, pull or slam. That is disappointing. I would have enjoyed being bounced off walls and ceilings. Or Miranda being bounced off walls and ceilings for that matter. Jacob and Miranda’s chronic poor judgment tend to be annoying on the fourth playthrough. Oh no, Niket would never betray me. Don’t open that tank. Don’t turn on that Geth. Oh, listen to me Shepard and get us all killed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dantius Towers is a war of attrition since flanking is so hard with such limited cover and space. Love talking with the Salarians tho.

From the time the merc falls out of the ventiliation shaft until the elevator you cannot save. Something like four of five waves along the way. What is that heavy weapon the Blood Krogan uses? It fires big flaming incinerate type missiles and isn’t available in the armory. Took me seven times to reach the elevator.

Those mercs jabber up a storm when fights drag out for a while. You don’t know what you’re missing.

I saw a youtube of what happens if you talked to her after taking a drink. Freaked and creeped me out so bad I was afraid to go to sleep.

Frustration. d:

I’m sure it’s on youtube though.

It may be creepy but she’s so bloody funny the rest of the time that I ignore that creepiness. Her story about why she’s serving drinks even though she’s a Matriarch is my favorite. Honestly, I want her to appear in ME3 just so I can talk to her with Liara standing next to Shepard to see Liara get all flustered by the very blunt Matriarch.

Ok, after several reloads and 30 minutes, I got the Brawler Achievement. I rechecked and Insanity is indeed the only missing Achievement left. I took out the DVD, neatly put everything back into the packaging, and set it on a shelf.

I’ve even read the extra stuff from the Collector’s Edition of the Prima Guide. I watched the Bonus DVD as soon as I got the game. d:

All done until a free DLC comes out.

Now, I gotta work up the motivation to finish and work on Dragon Age: Origins.
