My friend Chuck’s (he was my roommate in grad school. We were in each other’s wedding parties, etc.) oldest boy, who has been battling cancer almost his entire life (he’s 2) and was in remission under relapse treatment has just had the cancer spread. This is not good.
Edit: I just talked to Chuck, after reading his note on Facebook. David’s, his little boy, cancer has spread to his liver. It could turn out to be an infection but they won’t know for another week or so. I feel absolutely devastated and can only imagine what Chuck and his wife are going through.
They just got word from the oncological board–split decision. Sounds like an even number of doctors think that it’s just a walled infection as think it’s a tumor. So the plan is to perform surgery to remove the lesion next week, as soon as little David’s platelet counts have normalized from chemo.
This so totally sucks, but I’m rooting for that infection. An infection can be fought easily and isn’t fatal. A tumor probably means the worst.
Indeed. For both of you. Good to hear you’re all right, Gryper.
I was spitting bullets at work today. Our toilet was leaking, so we had a new one installed. This was nice since, as the midshift, it’s my duty to clean the bathroom before I leave, and a new toilet needs less cleanin’ than an old one. However, before I could get in there to do it, we got busy, and in the middle of the rush I saw a guy go in and use the bathroom. Several minutes later after the rush was over, I went in to clean–and discovered that he’d peed all over the toilet and floor and left without flushing. If he’d still been in the store, I’da walked up to his table, handed him a rag, and told him to clean up after himself like a grown adult.
Sorry to hear about your friend’s son Armando. I know how you feel, a friend of mine made it through treatments for a rare form of lymphoma last year. Now he’s going through cancer screenings again after one lymph node was found to be larger than on a previous exam. Keeping you and your friend’s son in my thoughts.
Thanks Stroogie. New door is up and I actually slept last night instead of laying there listening for strange noises.
Some people are just pigs and should be kept in a barn. Sucks that you had to clean up the mess. Hope today is a better day for you.
Today was a bit better. I wasn’t supposed to work, but the opener got the flu, so I got called in. I was up really late last night and only got two hours of sleep. I had to be at my church to help out with the Christmas outreach, so I worked from 5:30am-7:30am, then scurried off to church. We’re done now, and it was very rewarding work, but I’m tuckered out. However, I’ve just spent the past five minutes reading Gryper’s signature, and my mirth is restored.
Ugh, toilets used by the public. It’s almost as if people just get in a cublicle and and let go pausing only to remove whatever clothing that could get in the way.
It’s universal, men, women, anyone. At least animals’ll go in the corner!
I’ve had a headache for 2 days, it’s a good job I’m alone right now, I’ve no patience for anything.
Years ago, when I worked fast food in High School, I went in to clean the mens room. I then discovered that someone had wrote the word SHT on the wall with a piece of sht. I hate people.
So i got up to answer the phone and accidentally stepped on my laptop just a little bit. But it was enough to crack my screen. Now i have a black inky line running down it. FRAK FRAK FRAK.
And the phone call wasn’t even for me. It was for my roommate and it was a pocket dial.
Oh it’s bad when we hurt our tech toys! I hope it doesn’t cost too much to fix.
Last week we had three house things- hot water heater died (had to buy a new one- ouch!), leaky toilet upstairs almost created a hole in the downstairs bathroom (caught it in time, easy fix) and then the defrost board when out on the heater (covered, no cost to fix). So here’s hoping, we have no more house issues for a while!
I usually just feed it… I watch something depressing like Brian’s song, or read something depressing, you could even break out some old Janis Ian records… then get some good sleep… and presto … new day.
