iPhone Geek

I did the 1st Bloodline, and my initial thoughts are:

[ul]
[li]Gorgeous game. Graphics and lighting engine are amazing.
[/li][li]Plays smoothly - amazingly so - on an iPhone 4
[/li][li]Controls are very good. Blocking, dodging, striking, using magic, it all works as advertised.
[/li][li]Disappointed in the game itself. Pick up stuff, touch pre-designated point on screen, battle baddie, rinse and repeat. Break to upgrade weapons, armor, magic, etc. Dull as a bar of soap.
[/li][li]Disappointed at not having a “free roam” option. Walk through the countryside, battle random baddies that pop up. Maybe in a future update?
[/li][/ul]

Speaking of future updates, this thing REEKS of in-app purchases down the road, like buying quest packs, etc.

All in all, it’s probably priced about right, and I’m going to be interested in playing it a while longer, hang in there to see what Epic and Chair have in store for us.

Color Blind? There’s an app for that.

Felicia Day retweeted about this cool instant translation app (currently only Spanish/English):

We have been lking about that app at work all day, absolutely amazing.

HA! Same here, several folks downloaded the free demo and we couldn’t stop playing with it. (demo doesn’t translate, either reverses the letters, or makes them disappear, just as a way to show the tech working). Pretty cool!

New Year’s Eve Countdown? There’s an app for that. (Android too)

This is the ‘official Times Square app.’ Accept no substitutes!

I have hundreds of apps. I download something new every day. I haven’t hit the limit. If you do, you can do this:

First, iTunes does this for you. You can let it sync and life is good.

If you are a Mac user you can use Time Machine:

If you need to back up the folder itself it is here:

/Users/YourAccount/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Mobile Applications

All your apps lie within. Put 'em in a safe place.

Apple support files that work w/windows and mac on how to back up:

Hope this helps!

I’ve had my iPhone for a few months now and still everyday has brought a new thrill in a newly discovered feature or App.

Is it true that there is an app for everything?

Need to recycle odd items? There’s an app for that.

Need to open a bottle of beer? There’s a… well, it’s a case.

Maybe because it’s being replaced, I bought it for $1.19 today (99c to you yanks, but even though our dollar is stronger than yours the archaic pricing structure remains). I’d heard good things about it so look forward to trying it out.

Really like UNO, but I find Battleship a bit dull in one player mode. If I had a someone to play against it would be fun.

My 3G improved after 4.1 was fixed, but in the last few weeks it’s really lagging again. Possibly the last update? I’ve also heard that if you fill it up to almost capacity, that it slows it down. Is there any truth to this, as I keep my 16G quite chockers?

You can play scrabble head to head, but it might not be the kind of game you were looking for.

This is one of my favourite apps, as all my life I have had the complete inability to know the name or artist of almost any song except my ultimate favourite. It’s like my brain is missing some wiring. I wonder if there’s something, else, wrong with it?

If you want a great free dictation to text app, I can recommend you Dragon Dictation. I just used it for the 1st time and it nearly recognized all my words correctly.

Open post to all Tapatalk App users…worth the price?

Yes, I use it all the time. Much easier to get on the forum on my iPhone with it than without.

Absolutely. I just bought it and it is enabling me to get on the forum far more frequently. Only this is you can’t quote other people’s posts. Unless I haven’t worked out how to do that - anyone?

I’m digging Friendly on my iPad for FB. Facebook app is iPhone only, but friendly is quite adequately filling the void.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread. It has been very helpful since I joined the ranks of iPhone users (iPhonees?) this weekend.

After looking at the what the pics that show what the Star Trek movie looked like from a red/green color blind perspective all I could think was poor Sean…

One of my former co-workers husband was a developer for PvsZ. She said they originally wanted to name it Lawn of the Dead but they couldn’t ever get Romero’s approval…

BTW, I just installed Tapatalk to read GWC. Can one post using Tapatalk? Or do you have to revert to Safari?

Why the hell should she need to?

Argh! This is why I hate IP.
