They aren’t sold out of rooms, just the discount block for GWC is sold out.
I had to pay $89 instead of the group rate of $79…no big deal. Just ten bucks.
Good news is that I got my room, yeah baby.
hmm my email showed 89$ so I rang to confirm, it is 79$ but they don’t offer an option for me to pre pay, oddly enough, billing will contact me on monday :S
I shall check my other accomodaiton and see what the story is with paying for that, darn it i’m gonna pay SOMETHING today.

Well, when I called to make my reservations yesterday (Saturday 1/15/11) the GWC Group Rate rooms were sold out, but they still had rooms. So, I had to book at the higher price. I didn’t want to have to stay at another hotel, as that would be teh suck.

the very pleasent and friendly Erin at Aloft Plano billing just rang me (on my cellphone :o from Dallas!!) and it would seem that billing have acess to rooms that reservations do not, either way my (or rather our) stay can now be extended…
Oh yeah I meant to say, my friend Kimberly, who lives about 2 1/2 hours away is delighted I’m in Dallas and is coming up to the meet up, yippie.
Can i thank both Raenomie and Chuck for the help they have given me in finding a hotel and Janitorbob for pointing me in the right direction of these nice people.

So phaze, do you think i would be benefited by booking the room at the increased rate (the extra $10) and then asking to be x-fered to billing to extend it (im hoping to check in wed)?

So you talked to Erin to extend your stay? Looks like I will need to call her, I would prefer checking in at aloft on Wednesday then any other hotel but the guy at the reservation desk (who speak french) offered me a 189$ room. Not in my price range.

Ill have to see. If its 187 for wed there is no freaking way ill do it, id just show up on thurs and do sompin else on wed (at home). As for sharing its looking like 2-3 people will be in my room the whole trip so thats not really an option.
Now, provided not almost $200 for wed night, I am SO down for beers and hanging out.
I’m already sharing my room with JanitorBob, I meant for Wednesday only, I’ll get a cheap hotel for that night because no way I pay the full price either but I will try to extend my stay with Erin tomorrow.
My flight was 150$ cheaper for coming in Wednesday so if I get a good deal on a hotel room somewhere I still save money.
As far as I understand there shouldn’t be a block limit to the number of rooms during the actual event nights. I’ll talk to Sean and expect some follow up here soon.
im crashing out with Rachel1975, but i appreciate the offer. I decided to wait on booking until tomorrow morning, and will only book the thurs-sun, then ask to be x-fer’d to billing, once there i will ask if i can add 1 day at the same price.
