Heroes Season 3 (Spoilers for currently broadcast episodes)

my current theory is that Arthur only stole the power that Peter was currently using, aka the lightning (at least thats what i’m hoping).

It could be the only way to stop him from becoming a killer with his last power.

Hmmm… I think that discovering powers and coming to be in command of her powers has changed Claire’s and Peter’s personalities quite a bit. In fact, some of the only people who seem to be fundamentally the same before and after realizing their capabilities are Parkman and Nathan.

I guess part of the answer is that the show poses the concept of superpowers as a burden that their posessors can handle in a variety of ways, but it’s never simply a gift.

some part of season 2 i thought Parkman was going down the drain. He still could turn out a villain, I mean having the ability to get into other’s mind, not just hearing it, is pretty powerful stuff.

At first I thought Sylar’s hunger also came from him accidentally killing the guy and realized he can understand how the powers work by killing them. But this season they had Peter wanting to crack open heads right after he picked up the power. So, does power itself change personality, or the experience of having the power change personality, I am still on the fence…

I think its the experience. I think the ability to see and understand things at such a high level is just so intoxicating that he wants to just keep on experiencing it. His brain becomes a sponge which can never soak up enough, almost like a sham-wow.

ahhhh!! this weeks ep insane!

this season is doing a great job of keeping me on the edge of my seat!!

If that was the case then Peter would still be able to heal. I think he took all his powers including his basic power - which makes me wonder why he still had to touch Maya to take hers.

maybe he doesn’t need to touch maya if all he wanted was to gain her power, but Arthur wanted to remove her power, and for that to work he need to touch.

i also observed that Peter and Sylar basically has a derived version of Arthur’s power. All of their powers involves absorbing other’s power. Peter gets it by proximity, Sylar need to understand how it works, and Arthur just touch.

Though it makes me wonder if Arthur’s power is just a more advanced stage of Peter’s Power.

I wouldn’t think that having to touch someone to gain their power would be more advanced than getting it by simply being near them. Unless you mean the ability to actually remove the power from the other person is more advanced - which is probably true.

I noticed that too about Peter and Sylar. They inherited a variation on their father’s power and Nathan’s power is synthetic which is why it is completely different.

i posted that before this week’s episode

much to my disappointment, peter does indeed seem to be completely powerless. oh well.

i love the inner struggle Gabrielle is going through right now. It’s clear he’s trying to be a different person. I think he’s faking going along with Arthur, in order to get Peter out of Pinehearst alive.

Ah well that makes sense.

Agree with regard to Gabriel. I never thought there would be a time that I’d actually feel sorry for Sylar but they pulled it off. Also agreed that he went along with Arthur to save Peter’s life.

I just heart Gabriel when Papa Petrelli was like, oh so how did he survive the fall? Hee hee.

Hulu kind of sucked to watch today, very choppy, but a decent ep.

And I totally bought the Daphne/Parkman death thing, freaky!

I know!! I was freakin out!

Then i thought that it had to be an illusion. But I was hoping Matt was going to use it to trap Nox in his head :frowning:

And yeah, when papa Petrelli asked Gabirelle, that was so clutch. Just a smug little shrug “gee, I have no idea how he managed to survive whistle thumb twittle”. EPIC.

I really thought that Monday’s ep was very blah. I liked being right about Sylar, though- that he can absorb powers without killing. And that he can be good when he tries really hard. Who thinks it is going to last?

Seriously, I’m enjoying the season but the characterizations are totally out of wack - they’re all swinging back and forth without a lot of really believeable motivations. But… it’s still fun. And January 16 isn’t here yet.

I am enjoying this Villians arc better than last season before the strike. Had to say I was sad to see Adam go- though he’ll always be Mr. Sark to me. Read in TV guide that we’ll get several answers soon- God Bless sweeps!

how do you know he can absorb powers without killing? his vision of his mom could have been an extension of her power.

I was thinking that he uses Telekinesis to modify his brain

ok… the newest Heroes was incredible… most of the Heroes going to future or back to the past arcs are great (except the whole ancient Japan thing). They totally tied the story together, it was an amazing piece of writing is what it was.

This is finally the Heores I know… or Villains, whatever, it was great. It answered so many questions, like why El couldn’t bring herself to kill Sylar before. And Ma and Pa Patreli thing finally cleared up a bit. It was great.

yeah it really was amazing. i’m not at all surprised that arthur was all evil an stuff the way he was. i think this episode made me feel sorry for angela for the first time ever.
