Ok, so who is good enough for the Chief? Racetrack, Dee (if she takes some time to get over Lee first), anyone else?
I dunno it might be kinda cool for him & D’Anna. See if Final Five cylon action will do the baby thing!
Thanks for the rebut, Aset. I don’t deny that it’s possible Romo clerked for an aged Joe Adama, and not knowing the ins and outs of Joe’s criminal and civil liberties defense career before, during and after the first Cylon war creates a universe of chronology possibilities. That’s just my theory with some sprinkled reasoning. More than likely Starbuck’s Dad was the final 'bot…or Caroly Adama…or even Dirk Benedict.
Listening to podcasts about month now. this is my first post and been wanting to say this since first hearing it. All three of you guys have great “on air” voices. Seriously, take it from someone who started listening to the great Jean Sheperd when i was a small boy. started listening because i am huge fan of BSG, listened to other BSG podcasts no one come close to have the voice qualites that you three have. consider a career in Radio, because you got what it takes, as good as the pros and far better than any other amateurs. Not just blowin smoke up your butts, either i subscribe to about 20 podcasts, NPR, New York talk shows and others. I am a Union iron worker here in NYC and try to listen while dive to and from work, and if i’m doing something solo like welding, i’ll hide earphones and ipod and listen During work. Thats all from me, wanted to say that about your Great quality voices, and break ice to say hi to fellow, BSG fans, Sincerly, JohnnyRock
As a few people mentioned earlier, Laura did look pretty different this episode. She looked very feline.
Below is a clip of Jeremy Bulloch being presented his Boba Fett replica. He really comes across as such a nice guy and has always been very kind to the fans. Maybe one day he’ll get the suit he wore as the Corellian Corvette pilot from Episode III. lol
Dude, I love Cavil, but you’re totally right about the Cavil sexual orientation of Skeevy! That totally nails it.
wow, the idea of the Chief getting with Racetrack AND Dee at the same time… I need a moment… a LONG moment…
Welcome to the forum JohnnyRock!
All right, finally getting through podcast 95 and wanted to comment on your reply to my call (instead of grading papers, like I should be): I understand what you’re saying, Chuck, but when Baltar has lied to cover his “existential ass” in the past, he’s had interaction with Head Six and generally acts rather sneaky (cf. “the Hand of God”). When facing his would-be assassin and, in last week’s episode starting down the guy who gave him craaaaap at the mess show a stronger, more confident side of Baltar that belies honesty or, at the very least, an honest belief in his lies–which have therefore ceased to be lies, since he sincerely believes them. Compare, for instance, Baltar’s apparent conversion and submission to God’s will in “33” to the way he talks about God in the first two episodes of this season.
This is a different man, Chuck. He may still be a weasel, but he’s a weasel heading towards salvation.
Don’t know if this has already been addressed or not, but I voted “disapproved” in the presidential poll because Roslin is the baldest of hypocrites when it comes to trusting spiritual experiences. It is bad enough that she is making policy based on prophecy (even if it happens to come true), but it’s really indefensible that her private, privileged religious experiences are somehow more valid than Starbuck’s. I completely agree with Kara on this one – she deserves some trust from Roslin, but Roslin is too wrapped up in her own personal messiah complex to give it.
Clearly we’re of like minds on Roslin’s dealings with Starbuck. I guess what really rubs me the wrong way is that Roslin is becoming a “Fundamentalist” with respect to her religious views and their impact on her policy decisions…
Let me “third” those remarks. Roslin is one disturbing woman who I’m sure will become even more so as the season progresses. There’s no way she turns out to be the “dying leader” after all.
I would imagine the notion of Roslin not being dying leader was explored when the cancer was cured. Now that it is back, we’re back to Roslin being as freaky as she was at the time she split the fleet. The stakes may be higher now, but her attitude and demeanor are much the same as they were when she sent Starbuck after the Arrow.
I think the exploration of Roslin not being the dying leader is spent. I think she’s going to bite the bullet soon enough. Her continuing physical decay shows that a reversal is not necessarily all that probable without incredibly massive suspension of disbelief.
If Lee is now on the Quorum of Twelve and flying with Zarek How long before Lee goes after Roslin. Given her track record of bad leadership, more specifically considering the fact that Roslin was never actually elected to the post of President.
I don’t agree that the possibility of her not being the Dying Leader was explored in S2-3 when her cancer was “cured”; in fact, I was always a bit disappointed that the show never actually addressed how not being on death’s doorstep anymore affected the Fleet’s and Roslin’s own perception of herself as the Dying Leader. Nobody ever really questioned her role, even after one of the main requirements of being Dying Leader–having a “wasting disease”–went away, which struck me as odd at the time.
Now, saying she may not be the Dying Leader and saying she may not die are two very different things. On the second count, I agree that there’s not going to be a miracle cure this time, and it sure doesn’t seem like the medical treatments are going well. Story-wise, I think she has to succumb eventually; the big question is, as Adama pointed out, whether that death is a part of prophecy or just random and meaningless.
HI ALL, AS mentioned, roslin looked old, but isn’t she dyin again? My take on the "final 5 " stuff is this: There was a built in safeguard, if the Human population reached a certain level, the final five become activated. I like the idea that while including this feature or just building the final five, ( i picture a Geppetto character in a workroom), the radio was tuned to a station playing Hendrix, and when the final five became aware of human population hit the “low” level the a switch was thrown, the program -call it “no more human killing” software. The music just got recorded in with the loop somehow. When Anders made red-eye contact with that raider, the command "no more human killing went out to all Cylons. The 5th is Starbuck, because of all the times she was told “you did this already, and will live it again”. The piece of her body that was removed, is on the planet she believes earth to be. It is pulling her, it’s like there’s no place like home where your body part is or what it was they took. I am enjoying this season, sad knowing its the last, but i’ve just discovered season nine of Stargate sg-1 where my 2 fav characters from an old fav show, “farscape” meet in totally new characters, kewl. Also thanks to you guys for turning me on to “Firefly” i dont want it to end, so i haven’t watched the last 2 shows yet (serious seperation issues) Anyway thanks 4 listening, again Chuck, Audra and Sean you three have commercial radio careers if you want, you are easy to listen to, intelligent, and have a great banter thing going on, in my humble opinion, love listening, Ciao, 4 now, Johnny
fORGOT to mention the "WHY’ in my theory about the “no kill” command switch. It comes on when the human population reaches a low level and it comes on because the Cylons realized that they need SOME humans, like its OK to kill MOST but not ALL humans, my 2 cent theory, TY Johnny
Change that to ‘falls below a certain level,’ and I might be with you.
Welcome, BTW.
In the podcast, our hosts seem to think Adama’s comment to Roslin (“maybe you’re just afraid your death will be as meaningless as everyone else’s”) was callous. I didn’t hear it that way at all. Yes, I think Adama was angry when he said it, but I also think it was a truth that Roslin needs to hear. Maybe she’s the dying leader, maybe not – along the lines of what Armando says above, I rather hope she survives and then has to cope with the “cognitive dissonance” of that, that the prophecies weren’t all about her after all – but she would be a stronger leader if she were able to confront this existential fear that is common to many humans and say, “Nevertheless.” I.E., “Yes, I want my death – and life – to have meaning; nevertheless, even knowing that it might not, I consciously choose to…” This also has the advantage of making it clear that she is actively choosing to adopt Pythia as her playbook – i.e., this is not some sort of stereotype-Calvinistic predeterminism, but her choosing to be the gods’ instrument.
It reminds me a little bit of what Tolkien said true heroism was: even when there is no hope at all of prevailing, you nevertheless choose to do the right thing. By that definition, I would say Starbuck is being more heroic at present. She is clinging to her truth, that she knows the way to Earth, even when the President and the Admiral are aligned against her. Bravo to Adama for giving her a ship, although I do wish he would have the guts to stand up to Roslin on this issue.
Makes sense… My worry with that, and my fear for the whole “Happened Before/Again” thing is that it seems awfully Matrix-y, you know?
Didn’t one of the producer/writer interviews hint that their activation might have been been due to WHERE the final four-of-five were?
And, again, welcome aboard.
btw, hooray for Dee getiing dumped!
No more DeeLee-cious, more like DeeLee-ted!
This one is for you, Billy!
I kinda saw it that she left because she and Apollo where at a disagreement over a real fundamental point for her that couldn’t be ignored, tolerated, or fixed. Unfortunately what she considers irreconcilable may not be the same for the majority of the audience. We see her able to tolerate his infidelity and his daddy issues, but she had to walk away when they disagreed on his participation in Baltar’s trial after what the fleet may perceive as Lee throwing Roslin under a bus. If one factors in the heavy military lifestyle that they live and the fact that they’ve been living like hunted prey for the last few years, one might see how nailing a traitor is a big deal between the couple.
I so totally agree! You all sound great. Everybody brings something special to the table. However, I’d like to start the motion for the Audra Fanclub…the beatboxing is why she’s the coolest!
Bwahahahahaha!
As an aside, I really appreciate the Rank of Helo. There’s much to be said for the multi-purpose guy, but who sends their CAG away on a side mission especially after one of the previous CAGs up and quits. Talk about instability and low morale. Who’s left?! Hotdog? Racetrack?
