my ears were burning, and what do I find but that 'talos is making a not-so-veiled reference to my love of Spock
It sounds interesting and Spock’s World is now on my for-fun reading list!

Spock’s World is an awesome book.
And furthermore, I’d recommend ANY Star Trek book authored by Diane Duane.
For years, I ran a Star Trek Role Playing Game (the dice, pencil and paper kind) using the F.A.S.A game system. And I had my adventurers—the Captain and Crew of the U.S.S. Republic —participated in the events in the novel Spock’s World.
Fun fun.
I think this is the first Cast where we have had Sean and Audra get in an argument like this!!
Loved it though.
I hear you. I didn’t want to like TNG. I refused to watch at first, but when I saw Q’s kangaroo court and Picard on trial I was hooked. As I continued to watch I got a sense of the reverence that the writers and cast had for the original, especially how many of the episodes were variations. I actually liked TNG’s version of “Spectre of the Gun” better.
When Voyager came along with a women captain, I said “they’ve gone to far”, but of course I watched it and liked it.
I can understand someone liking DS9, Voyager or TNG better, but you’re right. There is something to be said for the one that started it all.
For my part, I actually did go into TNG wanting to like it. And as a hard core trek fan, I watched and taped every episode. I remember distinctly a bunch of friends and I gather at the house of the friend whose parents had the biggest TV and we watched the premiere of TNG with baited breath. The series premiere—despite some stunning moments—was kinda lame in some ways, but at the time overlooked that because it was so exciting to have a new Star Trek series on TV.
I’m not following you on the notion that Voyager was going too far because it had a woman captain? Why, because it was too P.C.? That aspect didn’t bother me—I thot it was high time for a woman captain even if it was an example of what Nicolas Myer once said about Star Trek’s “blatant tokenism”.
Speaking of Trek Movie I: Wasn’t the intent with it, at the time, to use the movie to springboard a new series, which would be syndicated by Paramount, in a bold new distribution arrangement?
Excactly right. The series was to be called Star Trek II. And was to star all the actors in their original roles. Except Nimoy didn’t want to do it.
But they had another Vulcan (full vulcan) science officer character named Xon.
One reason the sets in Star Trek: The Motion Picture are so elaborate is that they were designed to be used every week for years because they were designed for a TV show. And the plot for ST:TMP was taken from a story idea for an ep for that series-that-never-happened called “In Thy Image”.
Thanks!
And speaking of Karate Kid headbands and “Glory of Love,” take the Karate Kid Song poll:
I didn’t mean to stimulate this much introspection, but then again were scifi geeks. What else do we have time for other than introspection. Anyway, I just wanted to say I took you original comment with the humor intended.
And besides we all know that DS9 was the best Trek…
I keed, I keed…
You gotta especially count DS9 as real Trek. Ron D. Moore, guys!
Hey, Chuck, Audra, Sean – Can we do one or more DS9 arcs at some point?
DS9!! No way, dude. The Star Trek Animated Series is the best of 'em all!!
I rather enjoyed the animated series. Aliens really looked non human. If you want to watch some very creative fans you should watch Star Trek Phase II. It is fan fiction but is so good that cast and writers from the original ST are in it.
That’s not Trek. The skirt is waaay too long.
Bwhahaaa!!
Leave it to Chuck to correct the skirt size.
Yup, I’ve watched Phase II. They do pretty good. I’m two episodes behind I think. Haven’t seen Blood and Fire yet.
And exactly how long (bottom hemline to crotch) should her skirt be? (Come on, Chuck --you just need to poke around yesterdays posts and tweets to find the answer).
Worth seeing. Arguably their best yet.
Is there a more recent one than that? Or what’s the one before it.
I’ve forgotten what I’ve seen so far.
I try to be politically correct. I’m really only prejudice against female Trills with symbiont hosts.
I lost them when they changed their name to Phase II. I just tripped over them again. I am also behind.
