Totally off topic, but Solai! I love the animation in the siggy! I was all ready for Austin Powers, and then, well, it is what it is. Awesomeness
It is completely awesome and I am totally stealing it for my sig on another forum! /grin
Apologies if this was previously mentioned as I confess…I haven’t read the whole thread.
Eight: Poseidon? We’re a long way from water.
Could water be a winkwinknudgenudge reference to “Water”, where Boomer sabotaged the Galactica?
Seems like a bit of a throwaway line otherwise.
It did what now?
Word .
disclaimer: I have read NOTHING up to this point in the thread!
Interesting little webisode. I was surprised at how well Tigh handled the whole gayness thing with gayduh. From the rest of the series I would have thought that his hard-line attitude would have made him a big homophobe too. Glad to see that is not the case. (tigh, always with the curveball).
update: Tigh did not get punched in this episode.
I’ll be fuming over the last episode of TSCC
carry on.
Man oh man.
You people are so slow.
The reason Backyard Barbeque Eight said “Remember Me” to Felix is obvious:
She’s obviously carrying Spock’s katra.
Case closed.
What’s next?
And The Shat is snubbed again…
Obviously looking for Pon Farr in all the wrong places…
where the frak is the thread and podcast for the new episode???
Jeebus man, it just went up.
(this is all quoted directly from my trekkie memory–'cept the parts that I’ve enhanced toward the gutter)
Sarek: I had assumed Spock mind-melded with you. It is a the Vulcan way, when the body’s end is near.
Kirk: We were separated.
Sarek: Then all he ever was…all Spock even knew, is lost.
Kirk: Wait! If it that was important, if there was that much at stake, Spock would have found a way!!
Sarek: Yes, but how?
Kirk: What if he mind-melded with someone else, like maybe that hot Cylon chick from Battlestar Galactica?
Sarek: Oh yes! That’s gotta be it. Holy, craap, she is a total babe.
Kirk: Don’t I know it. I sure would meld with her, IYKWIM.
Sarek: Yeah baby.
Kirk: Are you thinking what I’m thinking? “Sarek Trek III: The Search for Sharon”?
Sarek: I am down with that, 'bro. Count me in.
Kirk: Shotgun!
Sarek: Dammit!
A theory:
I explain the discrepancy between “2 days missing” and the “20 hours of air left immediately after the jump” by postulating that there was some kind of “missing time” period for some or all of the Raptor crew. The people on the Raptor don’t know that, not only are they lost, they’re missing two days of memories, starting with the jump. Gaeta will be the first to figure this out.
That may be what the Eight was doing; she may even be the Eight that sided with Cavil and was sent to infiltrate the fleet, hiding among all the other Eights.
My guess is that Cavil’s Cylons grabbed the raptor and did something unheimlich to some or all of the people, then wiped their memories. The most likely candidate is Gaeta, and all of this is to get Gaeta away from the fleet so they can do something to him.
What we’re going to see is one of the Eights killing all the other people on board, including herself, to extend the oxygen so that Gaeta can make it back to the fleet. That’s all the blood and nastiness we see in the previews.
So, why Gaeta and what did they do to him? Apart from being a Galactica CIC officer with a wealth of strategic intelligence in his head, there is the possibility he’s the last Cylon, and Cavil wants Gaeta on the reactionary Cylon side.
Personally, I’m not fond of the idea that Gaeta is (one of) the last Cylon, as it’s a bit too obvious. Ideally, the last Cylon should be something/someone totally out of left field, yet makes perfect sense in hindsight.
Ideally, yes. Like whom?
I had a theory that the 12th Cylon was trapped inside the resurrection system after being boxed in the distant past. It wants to get out, but can only influence the world through visions or by inserting Head personas into humans or Cylons who have been through the resurrection process. (This means that both Baltar and Starbuck were human, but their souls/minds now inhabit recreated bodies.)
The 12th Cylon has no physical body and even less of an individual identity than the other Cylons. Its ultimate goal is to create human-Cylon hybrids and in effect inhabit them.
The destruction of the resurrection hub and therefore the entire network has torpedoed that theory, however.
There is no left field. We dug it up months ago looking for clues. We’ve jumped the fence and gone out into the trees.
This is yet another problem resultant from the long break; we’ve studied in minuet detail every single possible candidate and several that are impossible.
Yeah, I tend to agree. I’m afraid they’re going to give us Dirk Benedict or something…
(Which would have been awesome season 2ish. Now, not so much.)
I was a staunch supporter of the “Gaeta for the Final Fifth” movement, but there are some things that just seem to rule the idea out in hindsight, not least of which is the fact that from a writing standpoint, the blatancy of the reveal would lose all its luster, as Pike, Wash, and MFP are making mention of. (I have other theories that have swayed me from the camp, but folks can PM me if they want to discuss.)
I like Pig’s theory that the final does not yet have physical form (to paraphrase), but again, that leads me into wondering a great deal about the Tighbaby. The first Cylon to feel and incorporate the concept of human love (Six), effectively reproducing (and combining super-human construct, as well as who knows what cognitive abilities) with another advanced “model” of the Cylon race…Hera as hybrid was pivotal enough, but this…and again, it jives with D’Anna’s statement that the Final was not “in the fleet”. Yet.
Ponderances, ponderances!
