GWC Podcast #130 (Bonus)

Boy, whoever is the owner of those hands, they’re so bloody and so uniformly bloody that it almost looks like they’re burned.

Maybe they are. I wondered whether we were looking at blood. No skin sloughing off however (not to get too gross).

So much blood - almost looks like trying to save somebody with a severed major artery. Too add further confusion and doubt.

if no one else is gonna say it, i guess i’ll have to…

gay-duh & ho-she

Spoiler-Free Webisode-related interview with the superlative Jane Espenson:

It’s nice to know that these 'sodes are taking place during the time-frame of the next episode back, so it’s not like they’re going to leave us hanging as to what happened with Earth and how everyone is reacting to the newly-revealed Cylons.

First thought was that “Sweet 8” could have been Boomer, but on further review I think not. Boomer is too scarred to be sweet. Maybe this 8 remembered Gaeta from the New Caprica time. The fact that Jane Espenson (sp?) just refers to her as Sweet 8 may mean that her evident concern for Gaeta may be no more than an attempt to obviously distinguish the two 8. Also, the fact that she closes her eyes before the jump may be just that she is a civilian 8 and is more willing to show the discomfort that comes with jumping than the other characters do (they used to play up the odd effects of jumping earlier in the series).

I wonder if the knuckle-dragger is the one being injected so as to subdue/kill him. It’s established that he’s no fan of cylons, so maybe he kills one of the 8s out of suspicion when she’s trying to help and Gaeta has to defend them. Could lead to the sweet kiss from the 8 he receives. Anyway, all just speculation at this point, and like Schrodinger’s Erf anything is possible until we know…

A couple of things to consider. First, they may have the technology to create a better leg, but the do not have the resources to spare on a leg. Second, given the whole fear of hidden Cylons, might there not be an aversion to any melding of human with machine even if it is something as useful as an artificial leg.

Of course it could just be a plot device.

I agree with you, but it has something to do with copyrights and such. I face the same situation when there is something released on BBC’s website - it is only available in the UK (I am a bit Torchwood/Dr Who fan).

I agree. He certainly seems to be conflicted about it all, survivor’s guilt and all. The list we get a few glimpses of probably has something to do with this.

Good point. They’re way too uniform - even for blood, it looks like someone just dyed them red. I wonder…

It’s too bad wannabe-Athena is dead, because I definitely felt like “sweet 8” reminded me of her. Because wannabe-Athena was killed, right? Or am I making that up?

Or all of the above.

So going back to the beginning of the podcast,
When Audra suggested that watching the last ten episodes would be like getting back into a doomed relationship - would that mean that when we start watching Caprica, it would be like sleeping with our ex’s sister?

Her mom, judging from the analogy.

Or her dad… there’s some kind of family think going on here…

OK this is getting a little too skeevy here!

You’re talking about Felix Gaydar & his fake Johnson? heheheh… I always thought he swung that way… even his hair couldn’t be straight… :stuck_out_tongue: heheh

It’s just MILFy. Was all the craze last election.

Arrrgghhhh! Can’t watch the webisode “from my location”. Not available on any of the other sites I use. Anyone want to figure out how to record it and send it to me? I really want to listen to the 'cast as well. Sorry for dropping the ball on the recording, didn’t realise the webisodes were coming out quite this soon.

So, I just finished watching the webisode/listening to the bonus cast. A few things stuck out to me:

  1. The prosthetic looks exactly like the one my mother received earlier this year. O_o; Apparently, no technology is as efficient as a metal stick and a badly styled shoe.

  2. The scene with the morpha made me wonder a bit. Is it illegal? I’m not so sure.
After thinking about it, I remembered that my mom had to switch medications about two months after her amputation - the original meds worked wonderfully, and had little in the way of side effects, but were narcotics. Her physician, not wanting her to get hooked and deal with withdrawal, switched her over to a less effective drug (which made her nauseous) that had no known dependency issues. Might Cottle have done the same with Gaeta, and little Felix just didn’t agree with the new prescription?

Galactica Sitrep has links to both versions as posted on YouTube, if that helps.
