Me and Leah > Matrixedized graphix. Well except for Bkitty’s
…you guys tawking about me? (heheh…i’m doing Al Pacino)… finally… GWC has gone into my subject area… i’ve said all this before and i’ll say it again; life here began out there, and everybody in bsg is lying in a tub of goo…
I haven’t started the 'cast yet. But I was watching ‘Six of One’ the other night and Bill Adama says to Laura that same thing.
way to bring the room down, ft…
lol! just kidding!
I am not sure why there is confusion here. It begins with the phone dialing and on screen:
Call trans opt: received. 9-18-99 14:32:21
I know you’re out there. I can feel you now.
On screen:WARNING: carrier anomaly
Trace program: running
A number trace begins on screen
I know that you’re afraid. You’re afraid of us. You’re afraid of change.
A message:SYSTEM FAILURE appears on the screen
Neo has obviously stopped the trace.
I don’t know the future. I didn’t come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it’s going to begin. I’m going to hang up this phone and then I’m going to show these people what you don’t want them to see. I’m going to show them a world without you, a world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries, a world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.
Then Neo hangs up and steps out of some random phone booth. Then he steps out in a button up shirt, with the top button done up and no tie. On top of this he has a long trench coat on. Now he pauses looks around and puts on the ugliest pair of sunglasses in the Matrix. If this isn’t enough to get everyone’s attention the dude just flies away in front of a crowded street. This all just supports my theory that dudes who fly have no fashion sense. Oh, also that he is definitely talking to the A.I. (agents, architect or whatever program monitors communication in the Matrix) and warning them he will start setting more people free. We get a confirmation on this in Reloaded. I hope this helps to answer some questions.
first of all, amen to that.
secondly, kudos to the matrixed out Naruto avatar. Naruto and gang certainly can bend the matrix, it’s either that or they are seriously tripping on LSD…
oh wow, i never realize how well Morpheus delievered that “Isn’t it worth dying for” line until watching the Narutrix vid…
Always loved this flick. butI really didn’t love it until the second time I watched it. Not really sure why I didn’t like it the first time…but then I saw it again and was just floored at how well put together it was. Really great “Journey” type movie…boy becoming a man kinda thing. And it addresses the great philosophical question “what it real?”
Is this computer real? is the desk real?
Oh no…is the podcast real???
What if Sean, Chuck and Audra aren’t real?
AAAAUUUUGHHHH!!!!!!
:D:D
Bringing the forum Lea Thompson talk and Avatar changes, methinks. BTW, I love Sean’s ‘Be in your bunk’ reference.
I’m still listening but had to post.
RE: Chuck and Sean’s comments on “not getting it”. I thot I was the only one. When I first saw the Matrix, I liked it but I didn’t know why. It had everything a fanboy loves, kung fu fighting, guns, hot chicks in leather that kick (sorryBarb). I should love this film. Over time I realized what it was. Most films like that lack substance. They are meant to give you an adrenaline rush and walk you out the door. As Audra has coined the phrase “dick flick” those films are just that, Wham bam thank you ma’am. But the Matrix queued my intellect and it felt weird. It made me stick around and get to know it. I wanted to understand what was going on.
Around 21:00
For those who live in the fair city of NYC know that everyday is Halloween. [pirate speak]Thar be strange folk here[/pirate speak]. Not a day doesn’t go by where I’m not shouted at by a homeless person. You get used it and sometimes you say Good morning.
I’ve seen my share of weirdos. At times, I’m one of them but I’d like to touch on something Chuck said about Grand Central Station.
I was out with a bunch of co-workers and a group of teens dressed like Neo and crew were walking down Broadway. They were given a wide berth and people took notice. At the time I was still in my “I don’t get the Matrix” phase. But that experience helped. Much like Star Wars made a cultural connection, this film did also. Films like Star Wars and The Matrix create a home in your psyche and make a lasting impression. IMO, they fill a need we have as human beings. A need to experience something bigger than ourselves.
EDIT: 1:22:30 Oh craaap just said what I said. I should be a patient padawan.
I don’t remember ever seeing previews for the Matrix (I probably did but i also thought it was probably gonna be really dumb casue you know Keanu was in it) I was awfully busy around the time it came out. I had just transferred into the Theatre program at FSU. I was working an overnight job as Night Staff (over night security for the dorms) 2 or three nights a week and was also running spotlight for the School of Theaters version of Hamlet 6 nights a week ( I would go from class to Hamlet to work and then back to class). I think i heard about how cool it was from some friends so I went to a Midnight screening of it one night after Hamlet dressed out in my blacks and also wearing a trench coat (It was a very cold spring in Tallahassee dipping down into the 50’s which is pretty rare in April). I was totally blown away by the movie. I think i saw it a couple more times in the theatre. It was visually one of the most stunning things i have ever seen and had an amazing story. It quickly became one of the most talked about things in the School of Theatre. On the back of our Hamlet shirts wehad quotes from things heard around the stage and on of them was “Have you seen the Matrix yet?” I haven’t seen that reaction to a movie till maybe Lord of the Rings came out and if not that the Dark Knight (GO SEE IT CHUCK AND AUDRA!!!)(!!!).
One of the things i remember most about it was the controversy that came along with the movie and that would be Columbine. I know that within a week, before or after, of the movie being released was when Columbine happened. I remember all the news stories were talking about how the Matrix influenced those two bastards and there was talk about how bad the movie was for society. I also remeber hos stupid people were acting. I was walking back to the dorm after running a show, again dressed in my blacks and still wearing a trench coat, when some frat boys drove by and yelled out their window, “Hey look its the Trench Coat Mafia”. Oh what a crazy time that was.
Now on a lighter note. Audra brought up a fear of the Bermuda triangle and that brought back some old memories of mine. Way back in the day i was a rather gullible and very imaginative child. I remember seeing a TV commercial for a cruise and/or Bermuda. It started off being kinda scary talking about Brave voyagers taking a boat trip thru the Bermuda triangle but If they made it thru they would be in Paradise. Then the commercial cut to lots of flowery colors, Caribbean music and people dancing. But i thought the entire time it was actually a very dangerous trip and that those people were risk takers. I also remember thinking that i never wanted to go to Bermuda and that i hoped my parents would never make me take a trip there.
Trench coats do not make the man or a killer. I think the Matrix “look” can only be carried off by a person with a good attitude about themselves. Most people just look dumb.
Well, there’s a practical reason as well. Trenchcoats are great for concealing things like guns. Form follows function.
That works great in the movies but not so great in real life. Form follows function so the people look dumb and are?
Hey! I wear trenchcoats in winter.
OK, not really refuting your point there…
Well you said the practical reason was for guns not to keep warm. That is something I do not have to worry about or think about here.
Well, form follows function, but sometimes there are more than one function. For example, I may bring nail clippers on a plane, but I may be intending to clip my nails…
Pike is my new hero. Huzzah.
yea i was wearing it cause it was coldish. I love me some cold but i also like having an excuse for wearing my coat.
And i know a Coat dosent make a man…a penis makes a man (normally)
i think trench coats can hide guns fairly well. Just go around Central Park at night and you’ll find out. One moment you don’t think there’s anything under there, and the next moment you find out there really isn’t anything under there.
