I was thinking about Sean’s Jabba is an evil Hippie comment and thought…Did he just compare Jabba to this:
…that his ONE true gift was to…
persuade his followers to kill on command.
IMO, Go with the Thrawn trilogy to “jump” into the EU.

Audra,
re: characters speaking at each other in different languages.
To those of us in the ESL field, this is a very common occurence, often between generations. The parent speaks the old language to the offspring and the offspring speaks back in the dominant language. When a person uses two or more languages in a conversation it’s called ‘code switching’.
My $.02 (US)
Interesting. That makes sense, but I hadn’t heard “Code Switching” used in that context. (Usually it marks a shift in an individual’s use of language.)
Rob Schneider is Manson…
Perhaps I’ve been reading too many reviews of Pineapple Express, but my first thought on reading that wasn’t magical culinary skills…
Like Sean, I find it hard to believe that anything, anyone, could possibly make Salma look less than smoking hot. Unlike Sean, I found her pretty darn attractive in Frida, eyebrows and all.
Sigh. It’s such a stupid hipster accessory. I, too, carry one of those foldable target totes in my purse everywhere so I don’t need a bag if I stop in to pick up some veggies on my way home, but I certainly haven’t spent more than $1.00 on a reuseable grocery bag. That’s sillier than polluting!
Despite the weirdness of hipster-chic canvass totes, I am glad that they’re trendy, because it’s good not to waste all that plastic and paper. I understand, of course, that if you have a family it’s impractical to collect and store 20+ tote bags in your kitchen and car, but I think huge, suburban grocery stores should do like Costco does and have people box their purchases into the containers that the food was shipped in. Less waste, more reusing, everyone can win.
It was absolutely necessary for me to do this. I have that voice-over guy’s voice in my head! Thank you for the belly-laughs!!
Andporudofit…you have no idea how much I wanted to put a space in that
I got a canvas bag from the public library fo $5 - because it gave money to the public library!
It’s gotten to the point that when I buy stuff, I just put it in my normal bag, which is usually big enough for any incidental I pick up. Though I do get annoyed when people just bag stuff automatically… I don’t want the plastic bags!
I keep the bags and take them to school. invariably there’s a few parents who can’t or won’t buy their kid a backpack, and I refuse to send a 5-year-old through the cafeteria line with a handful of papers and a library book.
My students need them for PE cloths. Yuk
So when will we know about the next arc???
Ha, that was a great stream of unconsciousness.
Your Risa img is hilarious. I would love to visit the planet from the original series where whatever you thought about became real. I wouldn’t think about white rabbits…I’m just sayin.
My guess (based on nothing other than loving and trying to keep on the bleeding edge of tech news) is that it’ll be 2-3 years before we get a 64+gig Touch at $250. Sorry Solai. I’ve got a 60gb iPod video myself and I’ve been scraping by with too many podcasts to load on it for a while now, so the idea of going smaller is NUTZOID!
FT, I feel so bad because it’s always me who forgets your name. I’m sorry, man!!
The Blue Harvest thing and the “Revenge of the Jedi” thing is awesome! I had no idea.
Great theory, lol! Also, re: the forest moon, it doesn’t necessarily mean there are other moons, although it could imply that. I mean, if I said, the “big planet” it doesn’t necessarily mean there are smaller ones in the same system. Just a thought.
Thanks, Trak - and I’m with Pike on that one; never heard code-switching used in that way before. I always thought it had more to do with something akin to signifyin’.
I also thought she still looked beautiful, in a classy way.
And I, also, have been immersed in all the Pineapple Express hype, hehe. One of my students (on the demand of the whole class) lent me his copy of Superbad last weekend and it was great! So now I’m all back in the loop and stuff.
Don’t sweat it. Nothing several hours of locking myself in a closet and crying into a pillow didn’t fix. I’m a better man for it. Who said men ain’t moody?
Besides, as I mentioned when I put that in my siggy I felt pompous. Serves me right!
I don’t want to grow up and be a whiny brat. As always, Shat set me right.
You make you kids wear plastic bags in PE???
Talk about Chaffing…
Ok, if Audra recommends it, I’ll see it.
