Totally. Though I think on some podcast thread someone confused one of my calls with one of Emily’s… I talk fast, but not that fast!
No, no 'talos…you are the someone who used to be in Thot’s siggy.
Wow. We’re like a whole new websters dictionary here at GWC–creating new words all the time.
Time to add a new verb to the FAQ:
Someone-ed: The act of referring to someone as …well…someone…when you forget there name.
How’s the song go? “Everybody’s been somebody sometimes”? Is that the right verb?
And to that end, here’s the song for the day: Jurassic 5’s “I Am Somebody.”

Say it with me…
Language is always changing.
Well said, well said… And welcome to the forum! There’s an (Un)Official Introduction thread in the Of Topic section…
Well, I felt all warm and tingly being in your sig. for a week or two.
Someone made a great point that “The Return of the Jedi” could refer to the Jedi as a collective or the return of Anakin to the Jedi. I always assumed the title referred to Luke only.
I heard once (a long time ago) that the title originally was going to be “Revenge of the Jedi” but Lucas decided that that was not what the Jedi were about.
Completely true. It was a last minute change too. They had a Revenge teaser poster and trailers as well as other items. The Revenge items are highly sought after by collectors. If anyone ever comes across the original teaser poster let me know, I’m always on the look out. The code name for the movie was Blue Harvest. That’s where Family Guy got the name for their SW episode.
Here are the trailers
thanks…very cool
I think Jedi is my personal fav of the Original Trilogy. Here is my thinking.
I dug the first one alot 'cause it had a super cool space battle and was an awesome story
I dug the second one because it had a really cool Lightsaber battle and continued said awesome story
Now part three. It has both an awesome Lightsaber Battle AND and awesome space battle. Also its the conclusion of the awesome story. So that makes it at least 3x as awesome as the first two movies.
That said i do have a problem with the flick. And it has to do with continuity.
At the end of Empire when Han is being frozen in carbonite his hands are in handcuffs and his vest is buttoned. When he becomes unfrozen by Leia in Jabbas palace his vest is unbuttoned which i can maybe forgive but he is no longer handcuffed. Where did they go? thats something that has always bugged me.
I also have two theories on why the Stormtroopers are so easily beaten by the Ewocks
- After capturing Luke, Vader decided to throw the Stormtroopers a raging party. The Troopers partied hard into the night and well into the morning. Therefore they were all hit with major hangovers. While the rocks and arrows hitting off of their armor would normaly be just an annoyance, this time around it was like having your head in a church bell when it was ringing high noon.
or 2.
Storm trooper armor acts much like a turtle shell. once they roll over on their back they cannot get up and just lay there comically flailing. Kind of like the little brother in Christmas Story.
Another thing i want to bring up
The shield generator is on the Forrest moon of Endor. So that means that they were on a moon not the planet. So what is the moons name. That also implies that there is more than one moon of Endor. Am I correct in thinking this.
They had very cheesy voice overs but I love the music. I always found Williams music fantastic.
Welcome to the GWC Tom.
Thanks Leah!
Yeah, movie trailers have changed over the years…but cheesy voice overs seem to be a constant.
IN A WORLD of cheesy voiceovers…
…there was ONE…
…man who stood ALONE…
…man who had THE VOICE…
…and ALONE, with a voice of UNSPEAKABLE POWER…
…who sold out to Geiko…
… and NOW he’s about to find out …
