and did anyone else think it was funny (or comment on) anakin stopping to ask the jawas for directions while on his way to rescue his mom??
I KNEW it! That’s why Anakin killed all those sand people…
David, I love the whole Othello thing with Palpatine whispering poison into Anakin’s ear. It would have been so much more emotional (and realistic) when Anakin lashes out at Obi-Wan for being “jealous.”
I have to go with bkitty’s cheerful comments - I love this place. You all are AWEsome. Seriously, I’ve been so busy lately transitioning between the first and second summer semesters, and I’ve hardly been to the forum at all, and I come back and everyone is just as cool as ever, with new, fresh, smart ideas, and new people, too. (Welcome, new people!)
Re: the Biggs Darklighter deleted scene - Chuck lent me his Empire series comic book titled “Biggs Darklighter” and it was EXCELLENT. Darklighter does, in fact, join the Academy on the side of the Empire. As things get progressively worse politically, Darklighter realizes what he’s into and joins others in the rebellion. It’s a great story!
Casilda- thanks for the shout-out! Apparently I (and Chuck) did miss a female Jedi council member. But either way, the point stands, hah! Most of the women Jedi I saw were getting killed in the Coloseum scene.
LadyD, love the new avatar. And love the way your humor slips juuuuuust under the radar. I admire that!
First, Anakin didn’t kill children, he killed “younglings”. I started calling my niece and nephew that for fun. It irritates my brother – hence the fun.
Second, I thought, based on the entire two SW novels I read, that Anakin brought balance back to the Force by creating Luke, who allowed “attachments”. The Jedi mysticism itself caused the imbalance.
Don’t ask me to explain that, I’m going back to my simpler B5 world now where I understand stuff.

Hi! I am really enjoying watching the Movies! I called in and left a comment, I don’t like Palpatine (He’s a Bonehead) and I feel sorry anakin! I want to kick Obi Wan for not noticing that Anakin was going to end up as Darth Vader. Can’t wait to watch movies 3-6.
What are some good Star Wars books to start with? Never read them and as the GWC crew said there are many on Audible and saw that it was true and not sure which one is the best to start with.
that’s been a BIG problem for me since phantom explained that jedi can’t have wives or families…reminded of the really crappy movie THE CORE whose only redeeming line came from the french guy at the end that put what they were tyring to do into perspective…he’s yelling at the bravado and machismo of the missions leaders and says “you two are trying to save the world…i’m just trying to save three people…my wife and my girls!!”
the jedi had nothing to lose really cause they had nothing invested in the galaxy they were defending…mace windu’s line “THEN WE MUST ACT QUICKLY IF THE JEDI ORDER IS TO SURVIVE” should have been if the galaxy/freedom/democracy is to survive…
When it comes to alternate ideas for Episode One, this is one of my favorites. A This American Life contributor explains his fix the movie: Replace Jar Jar with Sebulba. He makes one heckuva case for it.

It’s the final segment, at something like 46:32.
And the Clerks Star Wars/Jedi breakdown may be the single greatest moment of literary criticism since Tolkien tackled the Green Knight.
Ha
I had the exact opposite feeling about a year ago when I tried to read B5 novels after watching the entire series. I got through two novels b4 giving up in vain.

my fix started much earlier with the ickiness of leia being the other and luke’s sister when he was fully crushing on her in 4 and 5…give luke a twin sister but NOT have that sister be leia…i would have been happy enough walking out of the theatre knowing there was a badass female jedi somewhere else in the galaxy discovering her powers…in my version, mace windu survivved his fall from the emperor’s tower and instead of giving baby girl skywalker to bail organa, yoda gives her to mace who grows his hair out in crazy dread locks, and they escape to kyshiyyk (the wookiee planet to hide among the wookiee renegades…what gave me this idea was the relationship between yoda and the wookiees so this chick would be a jedi, warrior AND pilot…the other thing i like about having her in the guardianship of a jedi knight is that she would have been trained from birth and a better “other” than leia cause if yoda was serious when he said that luke was too old or that anakin was too old then leia was definately too old i don’t like the idea of a great character like leia’s only value as the other being diminished to being the virgin mother of the jedi babies…as a female i find it insulting that her only value is to make jedi babies… and it never sat well that with me that vader could feel the force in luke from his frakkin tie fighter and yet stand a foot away from leia in the deathstar torture cell and not sense it in her…)
in rotj, on the bridge, luke asks leia to continue fighting vader and the empire and that if he fails to redeem his father/vader he exacts a promise for her to go find his sister and also tells leia that he loves her but he’s gotta follow a higher calling to save the galaxy…instead of leia telling han “he’s my brother” when han says 'you love him" she says “yes” and he says he won’t get in the way she says, “hey flyboy, i think you are a very nice man even when you are acting like a scoundrel and if you don’t know how i feel about you by now, then you really are a nerfherder…”
thanks for that link…i’m so glad i am not the only one to have lain/laid awake in my bed night after night for almost 30 years trying to make it make sense…
And now for something completely different? Or, more accurately, to interject:
Everyone should check out GeeksOn’s Star Wars Episode 3: Abridged Script. It’s fantastic. Here’s the link- enjoy!
LMAO
Thanks for that!
“They won’t let me (sorry Barb) Padme? Did they see her in Closer? (sorry Barb)!”
it won’t load fer me
bleh might have to do with my crappy wireless internet connection or my limited memory on my c drive thanks though cause i did get to see the homepage…what’s it about??
It’s just a silly run through of Ep.3.
On the Podcast, it was mentioned (If I heard right) that there was a belief that there was no “good” or “bad” side, just evil controlling the whole sh-bang, right?
I’m curious, where do you guys think the role of the Stormtrooper fits in with the grand scheme? Heroic warriors like the Allies in WW2? Fighting for a cause they were told was right? Or like the Fanatic Nazis who fought because they were told their cause was right?
I’ve always been fascinated by the single-mindedness they had. AND, could ANY of them – even ONE – ever have been Force Sensitive.
i wanna hear a silly run through of ep 3…boo!!! this past weekend, my friend introduced me to riff trax and we wathced all three of these with the mystery science theater guys ripping on them…too much fun!!!
nazis definately…not heroic at all…they were bred for a single purpose…to be bossed around by a dictator
So if they weren’t heroic, what were they? Were there any “songs sung” to praise the battles they fought? They must have had SOME ability to belive in the cause they were fighting, or why fight it?
How many soliders today ask themselves, “Why do we fight?”
Or are we looking at a “certain point of view” logic?
I <3 rifftrax! I recommend Top Gun, Point Break and Missle to the Moon.
the stormtroopers are not ‘raised’ in the traditional human sense…they are grown in laboratories and trained to fight…not really sure if they were fed stories of the round table or battle hymn of the republic…a fully grown clone (as i understand it) is only ten years old
