GWC Podcast #107

another excellent point and argument to support the stupidity of the jedi council in denying anakin!

What she said.

besides the possibility that even the Jedi counsel gave in to fear and hoped Anakin be the one to destroy the Sith and it was Quigon’s last wish, there is another reason why Obiwan took in Anakin. Obiwan really began to look at Anakin as his brother. Obiwans fondness for Anakin is the main reason he eventually put all his doubts aside.

by the way, like we talked about in the PODCast 106 room, in the end it was Anakin that destroyed the Sith lord.

i think obi wan shoulda been his advocate from the get go NOT qui gon…woulda simplified some stuff i think…

i LOVE reading everyone elses take on this stuff and am sooo relieved to find i’m not the only person that has put this much thought into these matters!!

here’s a quote that i think of when i think of anakin…“there are no heroes or villains because EVERYONE thinks they’re righteous”…

and from one of my favorite books…‘tragedy occurs NOT when good battles evil, but when one good battles another…’

i think anakin believed in what he was doing and that most of it was for the greater good of the universe unlike palpatine who wanted power for powers sake…his saving of padme was purely selfish but before that in clone wars, he said he didn’t have patience for the administrative side of ruling a galaxy (much as my patience wears thin standing in line at the DMV)

I love your podcast…I wish I had found it before cast #100…which confused and intrigued me all at the same time.

While episode 1-3 of Star Wars is worse than a trip to the dentist, I agree that it is a good immersion into the 'Verse. I liked seeing Padme in something besides Japanese Royalty wardrobe. But Anakin’s teenage angst…please…

Thanks gang!

Welcome aboard!

Apparently there are other informative deleted scenes from Star Wars. This one demonstrates how Anakin’s problems with Padme really affected him well into his Vader years…

that was one of my all time favorites of School House Rock!

muah!

Barb I think you are in fact the official censor of GWC. Now that’s your cue to call in again =P

I’m probably one of the few people on the face of the planet that didn’t like any of the Star Wars movies (yes. 1-6. All of them. I think partially due to having watched it at a much older age, and partially having been exposed to all the pop culture references prior to watching them.), but what I do like is hearing the podcast and listening to all the sound arguments and judgments and explanations of the sometimes very confusing world of Star Wars. With only your voices to listen to and no visual of Yoda and Co., I actually found the discussions very engaging (and much easier to follow, say than 1,2, or 3 of the Star Wars movies. heh.)

It made me realize that while I found the movies to not be entertaining much, the characters often seem like caricatures (yes, that includes 4-6), and George Lucas to be somewhat of a poor director (for ALL of them), the STORY of Star Wars seems very engaging and intriguing and deserves a second look. (perhaps, the written word is more compatible with me than the movies. will look further into this.)

But in any case, for a couple of movies to spark up that much discussions, fans, analysis, over decades, is a feat in itself. The complicated world of Star Wars definitely deserves the credit for that. I guess I just never found the movies themselves to be great movies on their own.

Please don’t take this the wrong way -it’s not bashing at all. Just thought the potential of the story of Star Wars to be greater than the end products for me, that’s all.

Yeah, livia, I’m right there with you on that one. Nonsensical. Ugh.
