that’s the way to do it–get 'em hooked while they’re young, they’re yours for life. just ask the tobacco industry
You have a new avitar, now my post will not make sense where I say we look alike. O well change is inevitable.
Sweet! Count me in!
Yeah, me too. It doesn’t seem to make much sense to me that Mace could’ve taken Palpatine out, especially when Yoda couldn’t. I figured he was just suckering in Anakin to make his final switch to the Dark Side.
However, while thinking about this I had another realization. Obiwan actually plays a major role in destroying the Dark Side by critically wounding Anakin/Darth Vader. Had Anakin turned into Darth Vader in full health I figure it he would have eventually overthrown Darth Sidious directly and become a Darth Lord and the Second Emperor himself (as more powerful Sith apprentices are prone to do). If that had happened then balance would have never been restored to the force. Instead, he was critically wounded and became just a shell of his former self. Powerful, yes, but not powerful enough to actually overthrow the Emperor on his own. Instead, stasis was maintained until Luke was able to resurrect the last of the good in Vader and combined they were able to destroy the Emperor by surprise. Its a pretty convoluted little prophesy that requires, A) an inability to properly train Anakin do deal with his inner demons such that he turns to the Dark Side, B) Anakin leaving biological heirs, C) Anakin becoming critically wounded such that he is only half strength when he becomes Sidious’s apprentice, and D) his son never loses faith and saves him in the end. No wonder Yoda couldn’t figure it out.

One thing to consider is that by the time Yoda faces off with Palpatine there is a major shift between the Light and Dark side of the force. The mass killing of almost all the Jedi, who were already weakened because of losses in the clone war, shifted the power into the dark side’s favor. At the moment b4 Anakin turns the light side still had the upper hand.
good reasoning Phil. makes more sense when you put it that way
No, I have to say I don’t really buy the balancing the Force thing and how whether the light or dark side has the upper hand, I totally say it comes down to the individual Jedi dude and his or her strength, power, ability.
While personally I am with GR, I think the story would be more interesting if Palpy was just pretending to lose to Mase, because that way it truly demonstrates how evil the Dark Side is, but Tigh Fighters’ Light/Dark side of the force upper hand theory has its merits.
I mean if you think of the force in a MMORPG term as a support class (in WOW terms, Paladin, Priest, Druid or Shaman), where if they are around some of your skills gets boosted. So if the light side of the force is stronger, then Mace could have take down Palpy.
Though, I tend to think of the light/dark side of the force as two sides of the same thing. I don’t know enough about SW to know how the force should be perceived, it’s just what i got from the movies and KotOR games
Actually, it sounds like the worst lawfirm ever.
Or a sequel to The Teletubbies.
Ouuch! Mere mention of the Teletubbies = Fingernails on chalkboard.
Teletubbies = legalized crack for babies. It’s just wrong.
I wish she knew my post!
IKWYM !!
Oh Topgun, great insertion there!
Edit: Even though I have to say, I’m sitting here with a stopwatch and Solai came way faster than you yesterday. Hell, even Bunktime was faster this afternoon.

Well, I’ve been away for a week or so…I was trying to hold off for a moment. I just thought of baseball statistics. Usually works.
Ah! On a dubious mission on Her Majesty’s Secret Service?
Just mowing the lawn, my friend.
