GWC Podcast #102

Oh, you have no idea!

The hub: stop dickin’ with the dog!

bkitty: (helpless with laughter) but it’s so much fun!

the hub: It’s okay G, Mommy’s going back to the asylum soon…

G-dog: rolls eyes heaven-ward and sighs
(thought bubble) I could use a beer right about now…
I hope Mac Tavish doesn’t see the pix…

Okay, so I found out my sister’s dog is actually a Flat-Coated Retriever, though longer-legged than most.

Everyone, this is Porthos. Porthos, this is everyone:

She didn’t bring him into town with her this Easter, and I almost made her drive back and get him.

(P.S. I’m feeling goofy happy right now because a just became an uncle a few hours ago!)

congrats Uncle Stroogie!! uh oh! that handle is just too good. I may never think of you any other way

Flat-Coated Retrievers are great dogs and much like a long haired labs.

Congratulations on being a new Uncle and good health the little one and mom.

Congrats Glimfeather! Being an uncle (or an aunt in my case!) is GREAT! You get to teach them all the stuff that your sibling wishes you would have forgotten about your own childhood and when things get smelly, you hand them back and say “gotta go”.

I just read the last few pages. You are a silly buch. Thanks for the laugh to start my day out right. Now maybe the wait for tonight will be bearable.

I love a good drifting thread!! We had a series of golden retrievers when growing up. Great dogs. My daughters really really want me to buy a dog, but I’ve been holding back. I’m kinda waiting until they’re old enough to help take care of the dog at least a little bit.
Also, on cold, snow cover February mornings in New Hampshire I say to my wife “Do we really want to get a dog? One of us will be out there walking it on a morning like this…”
But I’m a softie—eventually I will give in and get a dog.

if they’re school-age, they’re old enough. go get that dog, Mr Softie!

Get a cat instead.

On a sidenote, I love the word “dicking” - I need to look up what it means, though.

My oldest girl is 8 and she truly loves dogs—and animals in general. So, yeah, maybe it’s time. It’ll complicate life—but complication is what life’s all about, right?

Besides, I can always get Galaxy Ranger to take care of the dog when we’re out of town. Now that I know he doesn’t really live in Germany, I can assign him all kinds of jobs.

Being a cat owner, I disagree! Kids will love kitty but the PARENTS will end up cleaning the litter box. And it smells. If you have a dog, any cleanup will be outside and go straight into the garbage can out there…

I guess when they hit their teens, you’ll look back on 2008 and be like hey, those were the days when I though a mere pet would complicate things.

I don’t click with dogs, but if you’re really getting a dog, get a German Shepherd. I hear they can do all sorts of cool things.

I love cats (and Catwoman). The first thing I’d do if I had a real apartment and not just a dorm room is get a kitten. Two kittens, they’re way more fun when they have another kitten to play with.

Oh yeah. We have two cats. One good. One evil. And who cleans up the kitty litter? Here’s a hint: his name rhymes with “MotBullFly”.

Re: the awesome but insane length of these threads… Would anyone else like the idea of an episode discussion thread alongside the podcast discussion thread? Just a friendly suggestion to see if that would make it easier for everyone to find and enjoy the kind of discussion they’re looking for…?

Maybe there already is such a division and I’ve just overlooked it…?

no, get a dog

Closest to an episode thread is the Frak party thread for that episoded. Discussion eventually migrates just about everywhere else, though.

We take our cues from the best ! The GWC Trinity !
Digress, Digress, Digress !

If we’re sharing former pets I’ll throw my guys into the mix. Below are Merry and Pippen. My wife named them, and I could never remember which was which so I called them Big Head and White Spot. The were a lovely couple. Big head even layed a few eggs and we had to get a new tank for Verbal and Fenster (sorry I don’t have a picture). They are all still alive and well, but I didn’t want to subject them to a move across country in the dead of winter, so they are in new homes back in Ohio. They’re easier to care for than (and about as smart as) cats, though I admit not quite the satisfaction of owning a dog…

First off, I love cats. Second off, there is no such thing as a good cat, they are all evil. Third off:

Botmullrly? Fotmullbly? Canterbury? Jeff?

Jeff? What a moronic sounding name. No way

We actaully took both of our cats in as strays. The good one, is nice and cuddly and friendly, and…incidently…fat. The evil one is lean, graceful, loves the outdoors…will scratch you when you pet him …and MUST kill something (mice, chipmunk, bird, squirrel…) every day when possible. And who has to clean up the dead critters? Hint: His name Rhymes with “Heff”.
