Definitly Evil Whil Wheaton
Okay, I think I’ve finally got it. “Team 80’s Movies”! I spent all day thinking of a well-structured team, but then a friend brought up the old “Flight of the Navigator” movie and I chucked it all out the window for this. I couldn’t be prouder.
Pilot: Max Navigator
Tech: Johnny Five
Recon: Indiana Jones
Martial Artist: The Guyver
since River is taken, here is my back up driver…
Tess Doerner from 4400 can control people to do her bidding with her mind… does that count as driving?
as I hadn’t seen that Wash was taken, I’d like to propose a new pilot/driver for my team, which is also as of yet lacking a clever title or theme…
Helva. From The Ship Who Sang.
Hmmmm, though he is geek royalty and he does play awesome Sci-fi/fantasy characters Will Wheaton himself is prolly not eligible for the draft. But dear god - Honor Harrington? Holy crap I can’t BELIEVE that didn’t occur to me!!! S%#t!!!
There are several other bad ass pilots that could be picked up in that series as well like Lt. Scotty Tremaine
EVIL Wil Wheaton is clearly a fictional character, so I’d say he’s fair game.
OTOH, why can’t we use real people, like this dream team?
Pilot/Driver - William Shatner
Tech Expert - Nikola Tesla
Recon - Arthur C. Clarke
Martial Artist - Dr. Stephen Hawking (encased in Dalek armor)
If i remember the 'cast properly - Isn’t her cat companion an awesome martial artist/fighter???
Jim Olmeyer from American Beauty?
Never underestimate the recon power of jogging around the neighborhood and dropping off gift baskets!
Tesla from Sanctuary is probably fair game
Nimitz? Damn, that would be a hell of a pick. Communication could be a bit of a problem though.
Or David Bowie from The Prestige.
Or, for that matter, David Bowie from Venture Bros.
Or, let’s just be honest here, David Bowie in general is pretty sci-fi in real life.
Never underestimate the power of communication via interpretive dance and mime
Thanks for clearing that up Sean. Wheaton is out and Harrington is in!
Yep, a sentient, six limbed buzzsaw
Not necessarily since
In later books, Nimitz can communicate using sign language. Plus Honor is telepathic, so communication is very good between them
Oh, I just yoinked it from online, but I will shortly when I compile the list to Sean to make those pretty, pretty cards.
And, yeah, I went for all the more frivolous anime characters this time around - we’d see how they’ll work out (or not). I even thought of putting one of those Sailor Moon characters into my team (but decided not to because I don’t know anything about their powers and stuff, and it’ll just be too difficult to write up the scenarios when I don’t know their histories) - So instead went more old school and revived my old childhood favorite Creamy Mami (one of the first ‘magical girls’, I think?)
Actually, I think my team pretty much all came from 80s anime/manga. And with version two - all human too.
The longer we wait the more I think Solai’s Martial Artist will be part of some elaborate skit in this weeks podcast.
Here’s my team (and first post!)
Team Monty
Pilot - Dash Rendar
Tech - Amadeus Cho
Recon - Natasha Romanova aka Black Widow
Martial Artist - Rock Lee
I hate this game. By the time I finish the 'cast, all the good team members are taken.
And then people come up with all the better team members that I was too stupid to think of on my own.
It’s bad that I can’t tell whether he was really have fun, or making fun with all the whoo-ing. d:
Technical excellence and correctness on!
You know what…? Since Honor and Nimitz are linked, I’d say Baconface automatically got Nimitz when he drafted Honor. They are inseparable (until Book 9 at least). Otherwise, Baconface drafted a pre-linked Honor (a child), and what’s the fun in that? In the past league, Chuck automatically got Cortana when he drafted The Chief, so there’s a precedence.
Judges?
Technical excellence and correctness off!
You’ve yet to read my signature?
Technical excellence and correctness on!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_girl
The Japanese language identifies magical girls as majokko (???, literally “witch girl”), though this term does not generally apply to modern magical-girl anime. Sally, the Witch (1966) counts as the first magical girl anime.
Technical excellence and correctness off! (:
Cohen the Barbarian rocks!
George Challenger from The Lost World (tv series) would make a good tech draft for anyone still looking.
