Why are you headed out, 'cart? Who’ll takeover as fastipedia?
When I made my accounts, GTCs were 400mil (or less) for 90 days. These days they bounce between 600-800mil for 60 days. So for 5 accounts, they went from 2bil every 90 days which is sustainable, to 3 to 4bil every 60 days which isn’t manageable. I’m not one to sell characters or drop accounts. And, I feel if I can’t play a game the way I want to play it (every account has a purpose), then the game isn’t worth playing.
It’s a combination of bad timing and bad luck. If I had waited to make my last accounts after the announcement of the GTC changes (it was a shock) then I wouldn’t have made them. Since I made them, I can’t have fun running missions for isk for 5 accounts. Wardecks, real life, etc., affect the amount of time I can spend making money as well.
So I’m moving on, but I’m not ruling out coming back.
Can I have your stuff (eve olds timer will “get” that :p)
Take a break and come back… I was burnt out on the game when I left, and it was not as much fun. But after a good break it’s fun again. So take your time, play something else for a bit BUT come BACK!!! EVEn if it’s 2 years later
I’m keeping my stuff for my eventual return. I’m wondering how much of it won’t work due to mechanic changes when/if I come back. Thanks for the interest! ^^
Just stay on the forum at least. It won’t be the same without the fastipedia…
lol The “Can I have your stuff” comment was a joke!!! I was not serious in the least. I can be a D- bag but not that big of one. So now I gotta 'splain the joke. Back when EVE was just starting, like all MMOs, it had it’s growing pains. So in the forums, A LOT of people would make “I’M LEAVING!!!” posts (before CCP band them) and the typical response for 3 to for pages was, “Can I have your stuff.”
But like Chuck said keep with the forums. Great place this is.
Yeah, this is a meme is every MMO forum. Never gets old really.
I understood the meme, but I didn’t know you were being sarcastic. As Optimus said, “My bad.” I plan to stay on the forums. I wouldn’t have registered just to make one post. ^^
Ahhhh, should have figured that. Then again Eve is the first MMO that I played where I was a forum whore. In fact the forums only add to the drama of the game!! The only other MMOrpg that I
I played was Earth and Beyond. RIP
Glad to heat you will hang around here fast.
And Chuck it was nice talking to you and Juan tonight. I started reading the first HH book about an 1hr ago… I’m totally hooked.
I downloaded the first HH novel onto my Kindle. I have a couple of books I need to read first but I am looking forward to starting the series.
I acquired the first HH audiobook. I think the reader is the same one that did Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies but I can’t be sure
Hey all,
Long time listener here. I’m a long time WoW player on a break so I thought I’d give Eve a whirl. I activated my trial account yesterday, did the tutorial and started mining.
I poked around that GWC chat channel and didn’t see anyone on, I was just wondering:
-
does anyone have any good resources for noobs?
-
Aside from the GWC chat channel, is there any other place to hang out with GWC-ers and ask some stupid Eve questions?
After a few hours I’m still kind of unsure about the game, it seems interesting but it really feels like I’m all alone out in the Black.
Any help/advice would be awesome.
Google is definitely your friend in Eve. Hell, I’d say Google is pretty much the perfect Eve manual. Players have written dissertations on pretty much every single subject in the game from the very basic to the incomprehensibly complex.
As far as the very basics, I’d say definitely do at least the first few tutorial missions to make sure you know how to move your ship around, target, shoot, mine, travel, use the map, buy and sell via the market, etc.
Just don’t feel like those first couple of weeks you spend learning the game mechanics will be definitive of your game experience. After that you’ll start actually deciding what you might want to do in the game: become an industrial mogul, join a warring corp, or even become a rat bastage pirate and blow s#!t up for fun. It’s up to you!
As for meeting people in game, there are a number of GWCers in New Eden, and we’re planning to put together another low-buck frigate ratting run soon – like possibly next week or over Labor Day weekend. If you’re interested, PM me your email and I’ll keep you informed. And outside GWCers, I’d say talk to everyone. Sure, there are plenty of douchebags in Eve just like any MMO. But every so often you meet really interesting people.
Oh yeah, one last bit of advice: as a brand new character you have one huge, gargantuan advantage – getting blown away (or even podded!) doesn’t hurt you a whit. You have no implants. Your ships aren’t worth squat. My point? If you feel like trying something, try it! Wanna see what 0.0 looks like? Hit up the map, set a course, and find out. If you get bubbled 'n podded one jump in, just hop out of your clone vat into your brand new (and did I mention free) Reaper/Velator/whatever and head out to do something else new and fun.
Hell, try convoing the people who popped you. Tell 'em you’re a newb and you’re looking around. Ask 'em how the bubble works. Yeah, they may tell you to f-off. But sometimes they’ll clue you in on things that it’d take you weeks to figure out.
Please post the link to the dissertation on “Prostitution in EVE”.
Someone on my WoW guild forum mentioned the official Eve forums as a fairly good getting started resource. I guess I avoid official forums by default on account of the horrible state of the WoW official forums.
Guess I’l need to check em out!
Time for me to display why my alliance mates call me Fastpedia.
