Eve Online

Awesome! Looks like I’ll have some reading to do!

Hello, everyone, I’m mostly a lurker here, but listen to the cast every week.

So, I’m darned curious about EVE, but I would really like to know…what to do. I signed up for the trial to see if it was worth what precious free tim It’s a beautiful game and just my sort of genre, but I think that getting in good with a crew is the key.

I’m Kyivan Czarny, on server Tranquility and, well, I don’t know what else to tell you. PM me if you’re a fellow n00b and you want to roll together.

You can check out the links I posted on the previous page. My number one advice (after getting EVEMon) is finding a PC corp/alliance. I would offer you a spot in mine, but we’re currently wardecked (sanctioned PVP wherever you go against a certain corp or alliance) and that’s not so good for a new player.

You can give the Alliance and Corporation Recruitment Center a try. Or, maybe someone else can offer you a spot.

The next free EVE expansion (yes, all EVE expansions are free) has been announced.

Read what little they put out at:

EVE Online Alliance Tournament VII teaser trailer.

The woman is StevieSG who did the voice over in Day of Darkness II. She also has a following among EVE players because she’s been a host of EVE TV and past alliance tournaments. So, forgive their cheesy acting. (:

I joined up with Paladin Order (or their training corp at least since they are also at war  ) but I was also steered towards Eve University as a good newbie corp. I’m looking for something casual.

Haven’t heard back from you regarding this week’s ratting, BTW.

Sorry bout that. Reply sent, not this week unfortunately. Damn responsibilities. :frowning:

I understand what you mean about casual. I am familiar with EVE University, but that they are perpetually wardecked by someone. They have methods of bank rolling their war efforts and protecting new players, but I wouldn’t call such an environment casual.

That said, I’m sure there are other corps dedicated to helping new players, just might take extra effort to find them. EVE Uni is the biggest and most popular, but not the only one. I’m sorry I can’t direct you to any of them because I only know of EVE Uni.

This is what i have found about the EVE learning curve compared to WOW LOTR online and POTBS… Just sayin.

Kind of amusing, I think I was the first to post that graph on these forums. Now, I’ve seen it posted three more times on different threads and pages of the same thread. I guess it’s true that what’s old becomes new again. (:

It is a great graph. Here’s another, more recent one…

Hate to say it, but my EvE time has taken a MAJOR hit due, to the new Super Hero MMORPG Champions Online.

I’m in EVE too, just started a little bit ago. I’m Thunderscreech there as well.

I feel my interesting waning again…coincidentally about the same time I fixed my tv and got my 360 going again. =/ I was doing really good too. For me I mean.

Maybe we need just just go blow s#!$ up more often, 'P.

Many people are anticipating Dominion and the changes therein. Eve tends to stagnate a bit awhile after new expansions, then interest ramp again just before a new one releases.

Eh. I don’t think that’s it. I’m in a BC doing level 3s. I’m skilly pretty well for it, I just don’t really feel like moving up to the Dominix. So I’m training like 1x skills that I really should have to 5 but don’t. So I’m like…not seeing the gains I was seeing the first few months I started playing again.

Beyond that chillaxin on my bed playing 360 is roughly 87 times more comfy than playin on my desktop lol.

Then don’t move up to a BS. BC’s are cheaper, and more agile, plus with the right skillset and fittings, can actually tank a Level 4 mission by themselves. And besides, BC’s tend to have one more high-slot weapons fitting than a BS. (See missile boat of doom, the Drake.)

Actually each race has at least one BS ship that has that as many weapon slots. It may or may not require skills that over lap with your current BC skill set though. Like Caldari have the Raven Navy issue which has 7 launchers (faction I know), and the Rokh which has 8 turret slots.

BC’s are much cheaper and tend to be easier to fit. As far as doing level 4s in them, you indeed need to have most skills at lvl 5 with a few at lvl 4.

P.S. Anyone watching the 7th alliance tournaments?

Yeah I know I don’t HAVE to move up but I was lovin the progression from frigate to destroyer to cruiser to BC. That’s probably my favorite part of Eve. I like the Dominix but iunno. MMOs in particular, I have a fairly limited attention span, I’ve never really gotten addicted to them like some people. Even WoW
