Logoff timer

After a player logs out, there is a check for player aggression every 15 minutes. If you have been aggressed, the timer extends for 15 minutes; if you have not been aggressed, you disappear as before. Note: this is only for player aggression and will not change what happens when you log off during fights against NPCs."

Now that is a game changer. I like it.

I thought this was a good read.

GDC Austin 2011: CCP talks community management
http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/10/13/gdc-austin-2011-ccp-talks-community-management/

I found it interesting how much of the advice CCP actually followed (or at least the time it took them to do so).

Is that a Ship in your Hangar or are You Just Happy to See me Again?
http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=2946

“- CQ environments will not be loaded at all if you select the hanger view, which means way less RAM use for those starved of RAM as well as less load on your graphics card. So running multiple clients should be more viable again.”

I’m glad it’s coming back. But, what kind of metrics did they use to make them think the lost of running multiple clients would be acceptable in the first place???

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3001

So the Tornado, a Minmatar battleship from the design a ship contest a while back will be introduced with the winter expansion. It will be fielded as a tier 3 battlecruiser, however. It will be accompanied by tier 3 battlecruisers for the other races as well, and they will fit LARGE guns! Yep, you read that right, LARGE guns!

Imagine a full rack of T2 1400s on a platform with BC speed and agility. Hopefully the price will stabilize to well below that of a Heavy Assault Cruiser, and we can run these in the same manner as we do snipe HAC gangs with logistics cruisers.
There’s also unconfirmed talk of a hybrid rebalance, so there may actually be a reason to fly the Gallente and Caldari versions.

I guess if you PVE, there might be a good reason for a Drake like ship with 7 cruise or torp launchers. If the Caldari tier 3 has a similar tank, then it might become the new mission runner’s gold standard.

Yeah looks like CCP wants to help out the WhelpCane fleets more than just nerfing Supers. I also ear they’re gonna make titans unable to doomsday non-caps, maybe a 4th bonus to assault ships, decrease siege modules from 10 to 5 minutes and decrease the siege mod strontium requirments. Also, there will be player owned customs offices for PI that will be destructible. Also, supers will only be able to hold fighters and bombers, and not light-medium-heavy-sentry-ecm drones.

So lots of FIS content for 0.0 pilots, maybe some stuff for new players/pve/high-sec pilots

Titans won’t be able to DD subcaps, but they are not getting a tracking nerf at this point. So they will still be able to shoot subcaps with capital turrets, but supercarriers will be next to useless against a subcap fleet.

Word is that the tier 3 BCs won’t have near the tank of the other tiers, so there will be no torp Drake. They will have increased speed and agility, so it sounds more like a sniper HAC concept. I can’t really see too many strong points, they’ll get out tanked by long range battleships and they’ll vaporize if you drop AHACs on top of them with sufficient tackle. An FC that knows how to run a snipe HAC gang will probably do well with them, but I also see lots of them dying in a fire.

IMO one of the biggest changes is the logoff mechanics. If you log off with aggro now, you take 15 minutes to disappear. A super with it’s hardeners on can in some cases log off during an attack and not die before the 15 minutes is up. That sucks. After the patch, the server will make an aggro check every 15 minutes and if you are still under aggression you won’t disappear. In short, if you can keep aggro on a super, it’ll stay until you kill it.

The hybrid rebalance is cool too, it’ll give people a reason to fly Gallente again, and all those people who can only fly Caldari won’t be useless in fleets.

Starbase Happy Fun time
http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3029

"We’re concerned that asking people to regularly fuel more than two or three starbases is probably in violation of the Geneva Convention, so we decided to make it a little easier before we’re indicted for war crimes.

Starbases will stop needing multiple fuel types, and instead will simply use fuel blocks, each of which contains 100% of the Recommended Hourly Allowance for a small control tower. (NOTE: none of this affects charters, which will still need to be added as normal!)"

“The way we’re strongly advising players to approach this handover is to fill your fuel bays with “half and half” - enough of the old fuel to last you to the changeover downtime and then some (I’d suggest 2-3 days extra just in case something horrible happens), and enough of the new fuel blocks to run the tower until you can fill it with 100% blocks. The server should then come back up after the update, see the new fuel and start consuming that like nothing had happened.”

Whoa…

Edit: The blog thread has 35 pages already. d:

Our POS people are rejoicing over that one.

I’ve been playing with the new BCs on Sisi. Seems like they did a bit of pre-nerfing that kinda hurt the Naga and the Talos. Most notably the Talos has lost it’s web bonus, and the fitting reductions don’t help either ship. The Naga is almost impossible to fit reasonably, and the lack of web bonus gimps the Talos pretty hard. So much for giving people a reason to fly Gallente again. The Tornado and Oracle are the show stoppers, both having tons of pvp potential. On shield BC roams the Tornado is going to be a great partner to the Hurricane, dealing out huge dps and freeing up the 'Canes to take care of hostile support.
The Oracle looks really nasty with Mega Pulses and a 1600. I can see it filling a lot of the roles that the Zealot fills now.

Hooray for new Jello shots! Tho faction Pos’s r gonna lose their fuel bonus. They will keep their hp bonus and be given a larger fuel bay so they won’t need to fuel as often, but they’ll take up as much fuel as a Large tower.

and new mods and ships r up on Sis if any1 wants to play with the new stuff on the test server.

Oh yeah, in case anyone doesn’t know there’s a chat channel on the test server called “moveme” Join it and type “moveme” and the devs will move you to the test system. It’s 6-cz in Syndicate I think. It’s got a station with 100 isk stuff and several combat areas. It’s where about half of the people logged on to Sisi will be. No podding and no fighting on station. You can test out tactics, ships and fittings to your heart’s content.

Improvements to the Fitting Window
http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3074

"Dear citizens of New Eden.

I’m proud to announce to you that after 8 years of hard work we’ve finally developed software technology advanced enough to calculate the damage output of your current ship. This comes in the shape of a new panel in the fitting screen, displaying the average damage per second that your turrets, drones and missiles are able to dish out, as well as the total sum of the above (yes, the new technology is also advanced enough to add up numbers)."

The winter expansion is early this year. Everyone get the newsletter?

Ok, so even though I’ve been playing the crap out of Skyrim I’ve put some time into Crucible. I have to say it’s the most beautiful iteration of Eve so far. The nebulae look amazing, it looks like the backgrounds are darker and the stars are more defined, and engine trails are back as is ship spinning!

There are some new jump mechanics, if you’re in warp range of a gate, the jump icon is still available, it just warps you to the gate and jumps you automatically now. If you set destination on a station, like from your assets window or the market window, the autopilot will dock you in that station. No more afk hauling and sitting on the inbound gate until you dock manually.

The new pvp mechanics are nice, except that launching a warp disrupt probe causes aggro. So, no more bubble>jump. Seems like every other patch they make flying a light dictor harder.
The new battlecruisers are pretty pimp, and althoug I have yet to try them on tranquility, the hybrid buff was pretty welcome.

Anomalies got buffed, so you can actually make decent isk running lower level anoms again.
that’s about all I can think of off the top of my head, aside from the super nerf.

Thanks for the review. I so want to try the new expansion, but I don’t have the RL money to restart all my accounts plus don’t have the isk to buy multiple plex. ):

Thanks to the TOR CE that is. d:

Hi New Edonites! New GWC member here, who found GWC through EVE podcasts.

Personally I’m loving the new Crucible expansion. I’ve only been playing for a couple of years, so this is the first real FIS expansion I’ve seen. Also as a black ops type of guy… I’m loving the new cloaking mechanics. I’ve killed so many fighter-bombers with bombs since the change! OK I’m sure the DRF can afford new ones… but still… hehehehe…

Oh and the latest dev roam? Super-lols! The first one was just “Err… derp. PL hotdropped you. And carebears complained they had no chance at getting some of those shinys. Nice marketing…” I was wondering if they devs actually understood the way the game is played…

But this second one? LOLS! Invite people to defend your convoy… then kill them! WELCOME TO EVE! Then hold up in a cyno-jammed Incursion system, so PL can’t hotdrop. And then cheat and use unavailable implants to hold the PL subcap fleet. Like a boss!

Welcome to GWC! I’ve recently resubscribed (today, in fact).

Thanks for retelling the CCP roam. I haven’t been hearing much about them. (:

You’re shooting the DRF? I like you already:)

We’re all aware of the EvE learning curve, right? http://www.eve-pirate.com/uploads/LearningCurve.jpg

So I’ve been collecting what I’ve learnt during my time in the game: http://bit.ly/hKJrGV – I hope it’s useful to someone!

Also if anyone is interested in join a black-ops PvP corp let me know! If you can fly a Stealth Bomber, you can help us kill lots and lots of people! Plus, it’s a friendly group without a lot of the usual MMO bigotry. Join the chat: Illuminatii Public (note the mis-spelling with double IIs at the end).

Man, crickets have infested this thread. Is anyone still playing?
