Eve Online

Eve has audio?

Yay, fixing my hardware problems also fixed EVE, so I only missed about 12 hours of training time.

Now on to Iron Will V :expressionless:

New GWCer here (dunno if there’s such a label, and double-dunno if I’m allowed to wear that moniker… perhaps one day). Played EVE since 2007.

Please don’t shoot.

On that first point, you’re more than welcome to call yourself a GWCer. You’re here, and you’re having fun (I hope), and that’s all the requirement there is. Sadly, meetups are still a bit rare and somewhat far-flung – one day we’ll have meetups all over the place – but in the meantime, the forum’s the best place to meet everyone. Welcome!

In game? It could happen.

Seriously, though, I’m truly lousy at pew-pew. If I shot at you, you’d be completely fine. Not that I would.

If you’re not blue, you’re goo.

Welcome to GWC. (Noobs welcoming noobs:)

Heh, thanks for the kind words, I gues  I’m such a carebear so don’t expect a fight if you hunt me down. Hope to remedy that sometime but for now… in 18 months maybe

Aren’t we about due for a cheap frig fleet roaming squad?

I doubt I’ll be hunting any carebears down, so you’re most likely safe from me. Especially if you’re in empire, I only jump clone up there every so often to buy skills and then jump back asap.

Only for about the last 6 months :stuck_out_tongue:

This is an interesting read for those who want to understand how EVE runs software and hardware wise. A bit of history as well. The Yulai Problem predates me.

Unrelated (almost), a new Quarterly Economic Newsletter is out.

In the ultimate example of not flying anything you can’t afford to lose, someone recently lost $22 Billion ISK in cargo. Worse, they lost almost $1,300 of real money.

Someone was carrying 74 PLEX (Pilot’s License Extentions, aka Game Time Cards) on a frigate in Jita and got attacked. Unfortunately for everyone involved, all of the cards were destroyed in the attack.

Yeah, and to make him even stupider, it wasn’t even a suicide gank. His corp/alliance had war declared against them, and he was carrying 74 PLEX in a tech 1 frigate.

He was carrying 74 plexes in anything. d: Should have split the cargo up.

Hi, time to introduce myself.

I’ve only recently started listening to the GWC Podcasts (Almost up to date) Good stuff guys.

I found the Podcast while searching for eve related Podcasts. Finally I’ve found a home!! I’m not the only one

Anyway the reason for the post: I play EvE online, and have for the last 2.5 years. my main character’s names are :

Tarnass (caldari) a Missioning, industrial, mining, carebearing, trading capitalist. Fly’s Orca’s CNR’s, Tengu’s, Drakes, and so on.
Lou Tiang (Gallente) Who’s the pilot and able to fly almost anything that isn’t a capital ship or require mining skills (Orca, Rorqual) Flys Freighters, Helios, Dominix, Viator etc.
And my Pride and joy (minmatar small ship PVP bod) that shall remain nameless at the mo as she might in that corp that’s just wardeced ya… Sorry, it’s only a game! Fly’s Rifters, Wolfs, Hurricanes.

My main interest is in PVP (nameless minmatar character) but Tarnass is the one that makes the isk. Everyone else just spends it

If anyone has any problems fitting ships (upto BS) give me a shout. I hate to admit it, but I enjoy fitting ships. How about a Mission running Orca? Yes, it does work.
I can help with Industrial stuff as well, mining, research manufactoring as well.

Starsaber (a few pages ago) linked to a JPG of his ships hangers. I might just do similar later on… Should be good for a few laughs.

I came from WOW (spit). I got to the highest lvl’s in WOW, and was unable to keep interested in the constant grind of raids to keep up. As I always enjoyed the PVP aspect, but being a priest, was unable to solo, I started looking for another option. Hence trying eve. I welcomed the chance to actually loose stuff if I got shot up. In WOW the worst that could happen was a run back from the grave yard. As has been described earlier eve’s a hard to learn, unforgiving game, that will punish your slightest mistakes.

Mistakes… Flying my 2 week old orca into a low sec gate camp (I turned the lowsec gate jump warning on after that one)…

Anyway enough waffle…

Saw this on the EVE website…

http://event.showinfo.kr/?lang=en&year=2010 EVE-KOR CANONBALL RUNNING!

i’m kinda tempted if only to pick up a Sally Field along the way. d:

Could be something to do in lieu of a GWC cheap frigate fleet.

Ouch

http://www.evenews24.com/2010/08/29/atlas-alliance-surrenders/

Lose stuff, pay billions and disband the alliance. I think I’d have just gone down fighting, but Bobby’s a little odd. Then, -A- resets them early and what little they get to keep is locked down in Omist. Sucks to be in Atlas right now, but I’ve been allies with them 3 times and been hosed every time. Couldn’t happen to a less reliable guy, imo.

Sorry in advance for the cross post…

That is so frakking cool!

Agreed - insanely Frakkin’ cool actually.

On another EVE related topic though, last week iPhone EVE players got some bad news. http://www.massively.com/2010/10/08/capsuleer-iphone-app-for-eve-ceases-development-ccp-responds/

Development of the Capsuleer App is being discontinued, which is a real shame. If you ever used it, it was way more lean than iClone. A lot of people have argued that it does way less, but IMHO the two apps served different purposes. I had a chance to sit down and have dinner with Roc in the spring and see an early beta of the next gen Capsuleer, and it was frakkin’ awesome. Capsuleer will totally be missed!

BTW, if you haven’t checked out Roc’s blog, he writes a combination of EVE themed sci-fi from the PoV of his character, Col. Roc Weiler. He also has two albums of his own EVE-related music on iTunes, an awesome flicker stream (he’s a graphic artist & designer in RL), and he posts healthy recipies from time to time. He’s incorporated Mynxee into a few stroylines (interviewed by the GWC gang in Ep. 176), so it’s definitely worth a visit. Check him out at http://rocwieler.com/ My favorite entries are a couple of older ones http://rocwieler.com/2010/04/06/state-of-mind/ and http://rocwieler.com/2010/04/19/directions/ for purely selfish reasons

After dipping my toes into Eve (trial), I’m now venturing out with floaties on (signed up for first month). I’m still very much in rookie territory (literally), but it’s a fun game. Plus it’s Mac-compatible (currently running Windows-free, owing to equipment failure) and I love the concept of the training queue.

Current character is Chimaera Riverchaser. Hoping to venture out further into space as I go on.
