Eve Online

Speaking of EVE University. It got a sistercorp in 0.0 “The Graduates”.

If you got more then five million skillpoints and are interested in PVP then join the channel “-TGRAD PUB-” and follow the instructions there. I am a recruiter there, but got another ingame name. If you got any questions about The Graduates, then send me a private message. I would be honored to help you out.

just learned the “dont put all your new expensive ammo and guns in 1 ship that you are using to explore low sec pace for the first time because youc ship will explode” lesson the very, very hard way

Especially on a weekend. Hard lesson indeed.

I’d love to see a Galactic Water Cooler corp in EvE. Preferably one based inside a wormhole.
(edit: lol nvm just saw it on page 5. It’s a lot to read through)

I’ve been playing for over a year now and can fly all racial T1 frigs, destroyers, cruisers, industrials, battlecruisers, battleships, and all corresponding weapon types. I can also fly Caldari HACs, interdictors, heavy interdictors, interceptors, mining barges, covert ops, recons, exhumers, and Orcas. I also have a LOT of experience living in wormhole space.

My ingame character is Cyprus Black.

Well, I finally decided to subscribe for more than just the trial. In the process of picking up everything I contracted from my first character to the one I’m mainly going to be using now.

My main character is Starsaber 1

I just bought a tech 3 ship and sweet zombie Jesus this thing is fun, plus it just looks evil and scary.

With one set of subsystems it’s an L4 mission running super tanking missile lobbing beast.
Another set and it becomes a Falcon on steroids. Electronic Counter Measures intended to target jam other ships with incredible strength.
Another set and it becomes a super covert ops probing ship, impervious to any warp disrupt bubble. Completely free to roam in 0.0 space.

I still haven’t taken it out for a low and null sec spin yet, but I hope to this weekend.

Got my first level 5 skill (Missile Launcher Control) over the weekend.

Now I’m trying to decide whether to focus on upgrading my Caracal to Tech 2 equipment or upgrade to a Drake.

IIRC the Drake has a quicker training path. It’s tech 1 I believe. The Cerberus, being tech 2, has a bit deeper requirement list.

I meant fitting tech 2 equipment. I agree that the Cerberus is more of a long term goal.

I’d go drake. It’s what I did. In fact, I never flew a Caracal until my second year in EVE. Caracal and Drake actually share a lot of skills. Plus, if you’re careful with level 3 missions, you can make more money while training. Then, you’ll be better off in the long run as you train the T2 gear.

Love my T2-equipped Drake for missioning. But that’s because I’m supremely lazy when it comes to missioning. There’s nothing exciting about missioning, so why have to move at all? Just jump through the gate, target everything, blow it the f*** up (if necessary), and get your standing/credits/whatever-you’re-grinding-for-today.

True, and there’s nothing to say I can’t keep my Caracal and use it for Level 2 missions if I get two bad level 3s in 4 hours. The station I use as my main mission hub has 2 Level 2 agents and a Level 3 agent.

Well, missioning is my main thing, but that still has its advantages. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, looking at prices, even buying my Drake now, I won’t be able to get all that much use out of it for a while. Buying the modules for it will probably make me unable to afford the insurance on it. I didn’t realize that most heavy missile launcher options would set me back 500k to a million isk each. :frowning:

Do you mine? I made my first 100 mil by mining low end/high sec ore, refining and selling the overstock then using the isk to buy the high end/0.0 minerals, buy a cheap Raven BPC or two, making the raven in a station I want to sell it at, then selling the raven.

You can also do the same with a Drake I suppose. But, I had time on my hands. Mining in a Retriever is slow going to build Ravens.

So literally less than an hour after I was able to buy insurance on my Drake, it got hung up on a structure during a mission so I couldn’t warp out when the rogue drones broke through my shield tank.

Fortunately, I bookmarked the wreck. When I aborted the mission, I was able to warp back and get about half my modules back.

Back to 2 million isk more to get full insurance on my new Drake.

Listen to the 'cart, man. Mining is a great way to make your first million, your first 10 million, and maybe even your first 100 million. And it’s a great tool to have in your arsenal for whenever things go bad and you need to cash back up to get back in the game. (In other words, keep those mining ships and skills around the hangar. The wallet you save later may be your own.)

And as usual, his tips are detailed and awesome: Stick with Veldspar in high sec. Sure, you could make a few more bucks an hour mining rare stuff, but unless a) you know where to find it, b) you’ve already made a deal with the locals, and c) you’re really, really lucky you’ll just end up dicking around a bunch to get things right before you mine, which drops that isk/hr right back down.

If you’re looking for a quickie route to barges, try fitting a cruiser with miners. With the right mods you can fire five of 'em. And ditch the jet can route for bringing a friend (or another character of your own) with a hauler. Shuffle the ore through a can. You leave nothing in the can, and just ignore can flippers. Or hell, give 'em some ore. Doesn’t matter to you.

Last piece of advice: Just ignore any aggressive acts while mining in high-sec. There’s virtually squat they can actually do to you as long as you don’t dish any aggro. And if they want to gank your mining cruiser, let 'em.

Ok, I lied. One other last piece of advice: Don’t buy a gorram Hulk unless you’re really planning on mining rare stuff in low sec. A Covetor does all the same crap without the please-gank-me-I-have-more-ISK-than-brains bling.

I have a mining cruiser that I’ve used a few times.

Cyclone and Anzio are my mission runners (but Cyclone’s staying in the hangar until I can get insurance for it)
Snapdragon is my mining cruiser. It only has 3 mining lasers, but its special ability is mining related
Rodney is my salvage destroyer
Serenity is my cargo ship

Got to agree that jetcanning doesn’t seem to be worth it. I got 11k ore in a can which disappeared when I went to switch to Serenity. I see a lot of Giant Secure Containers around the belt I mined in, but I don’t know enough about them to know if they’re worth buying.

Heh. I should listen to that advice myself. d:

Brand new guide:

Only change I would make would be restricting Industrial training to Gallente or Caldari. Caldari freighters hold the most. Caldari Transports seem to have the best tanks and decent cargo holds. Gallente Iteron Mark V holds the most for an Industrial. Gallente Tranports holds a lot at the sacrifice of tanking. Gallente freighters has the second biggest cargo. (Personally, I now regret training Gallente Freighter instead of Caldari.)

Yes, you only need Minmatar Industrial IV for the Mammoth. However, I think the Iteron Mark V is better in the long run, or the Badger II if you intend to fly Transports. But, these are just my opinion.

Just finished salvaging a level 3 Angels Extravaganza mission and got over 3.5 million isk just from the salvaged materials (Plus 1.3 mil for the mission reward itself  ) Definately a good mission, even though it took a while.
