Dragon*Con 2008 - Aug 29-Sept 1

Katee Sackhoff is OFF THE LIST!!! :(:(:frowning:

Dang…the BSG guest list is really taking a stomping…

That’s ok though…at least the Old Man and Tigh are still going…maybe…

holy craaap i just read the guest list. this would be heaven for steve earkle. = ) but i want to go sooooo bad!!!

Friday afternoon I think I can do. I will be in town on Thursday evening. The food court works. There is also a pub in the Peachtree Mall (down from the food court), but from what I remember the food was not all that good.

I know there is a panel I want to do early on Friday (Torchwood), I’ll look it up and let you know.

I know the first BSG panel is at 4, and I think Torchwood is at 1, so as long as you don’t mind an earlish lunch I should be good.

Awww man. My list just keeps getting shorter. This cancellation hurts as much as Adam Baldwin.

Indeed.

Hey! You’re practically a neighbor, I live down the road in Frisco. What day are you heading to DC?

DAMMIT ALL TO HELL!!!

No really, tell us how you feel. :p:(

I’m a sad muffet! Katee Sackoff and Jamie Bamber were the two people I was most excited to see. :frowning:

I feel the same way sorta. When I first started planning on going to DC it was pretty much just to meet folks and an excuse to wear my New Jersey costume (won’t make it this year unfortunately, we had jetcar issues). Now, after months of really looking into what goes on at DC, I’m ready for all the other stuff and meeting talent has almost (but not quite) become a secondary event.

Still bummed that so far two people that I really wanted to meet backed out and well, another died, so he won’t be making it either. :frowning:

Anyway, looking forward to meeting and hanging.

Yeah I’m still excited. It’s going to be a really good time with all the events that are going on (Buffy Horror Picture Show in particular has me really excited) but I was just REALLY looking forward to meeting the two of them.

Still - there are going to be a lot of BSG people there still (knock on wood) and it’ll be really cool to meet all the GWC folks that will be there.

So I guess, in the immortal words of Monty Python “Always looks on the bright side of life”

My plane leaves 11:20a on Thursday. It’s my 1st time, so I’ve been counting down for 3 months.

Flying? Cool, we’re driving (leaving around midnite Wednesday):D:eek::cool:

803 miles to Atlanta, 2-3 tanks of gas, half a dozen cigars, it’ll be dark and we’ll be bringing sunglasses.

Just so that we’re clear… will you be wearing the sunglasses at night?
I have a song for such an occassion.

Nathan’s apparently in

Yup, it appears so. It almost makes up for no Jamie (then again I have met Jamie once or twice - OK, OK, three times).

I was thinking more like this guy:

Hey guys-

Those of you going to the con- would you mind posting a bit of something for those of us who can’t make it?

I’d like to live vicariously through someone.

I’ve always wanted to go to Dragon Con- I hear about it more on podcasts (at least, in the past) than the San Diego one. Pix, too?

And can you post here- I did some Comicon ramblings, but posted them messily so they were hard to find. sorry.

I’d like to go to a con in the UK, too. That would be so cool!

Many mucho thank yous!

I’ll see what we can do.

Been and am busy right now trying to get some changes finished on the wife’s deckhand costume. Still need to do some finishing touches on my three costumes as well.

Guess I better get off here and get to sewing and taping and gluing and stuff.

Any of you other folks going to be wearing any costumes?

I will try to post from there - but with everything I have planned to do I am not quite sure yet how I am going to sleep.

I am sure I will do a full report when I get back (like I did with last year). I will let my friend take all the pics and post them here for you guys (she has a digital SLR with a long range lens) and we are going to video taping the BSG panels at the very last.
