I am almost ready to say I love Doll House, especially after last week’s episode. It’s very different from what I expected, but I am enjoying it more with each passing week.
Next week’s episode looks to be the one that will define the season if not the series.
I’ll just say, Chicks riding motorcycles and wearing heals, Genius.
Me too! It definitely got off to a slow start, but I can understand why Joss needed a few episodes of setup for the arc that started with the March 20 episode.
I’ve been really enjoying Dollhouse. It took a while to pick up but as of episode 6 it’s really started to work.
I’m really not sure where they are going to go with it all though because the logical ending is Echo regaining all her memories. Does that mean that she’s then going to try to take down the Dollhouse? I don’t know if that would work so well as a show.
Hopefully they’ll leave it as a slow process and she’ll stay a Doll for a long time.
Also, I really want a draw of inappropriate starches.
An alternative is that she starts to really work for the Dollhouse, and then the alternate personallity that she has (The one that was programmed in by someone to pass a message to Helo) will start to work at cross purposes to each other.
That would be really cool to see. I like her far more as Echo than as Caroline. Perhaps it’s just because of the multiple personalities of Echo as opposed to the slightly moany animal rights lunatic Caroline appeared to be.
(just to clarify, I don’t think all animal rights activists are lunatics. Just the ones that do daft things like break into research centers.)
i have really enjoyed these last few episodes. Joss is right that the last two are great. And next week looks to be awesome as well
I’m a JossHead. Whedonite. You get the idea.
Here’s how I personally rank/like the shows:
Buffy
Firefly
Angel
I am totally not feeling Dollhouse.
I’m not going to discuss it at length, because I don’t mean to argue that it’s somehow not good or sucky. I just don’t get it.
But am I the only one?
I don’t think you’re the only one who’s not feeling it, but it’s worth it to try, IMO. If you’re basing your opinion only on the first few episodes, the real Jossy goodness doesn’t begin until the sixth episode. The first five were too much Fox, not enough Joss.
I understand DXF.
After the last 2 episodes, I can see where they are trying to head with this. I like the concept. I like the story they are building. But something…I have no idea what just isn’t gelling right now for me. I have some nit picks that I’ve mentioned to badger, but they’re not really what it is. I wish I knew because I really WANT to like this show.
Did I mention on this thread that Dushku is hot as hell?
No?
She’s hot as hell…
I’ve realized that I think that the character Faith is much hotter than Dushku is - if that makes any sense.
Amy Acker is hotter than any of them.
I like Helo/Paul- he’s hot enough for me.
I personally think Mellie is the hottest…Amy Acker is up there
ITA. Mellie is probably tied with Summer Glau for hottest person currently on TV, IMHO. Er, well, on TV that I watch.
I agree that Mellie is a total kick-ass babe.
I think that Joss really needs to write more for the show. Was totally blown away by “Man on the Street.” Last week’s was ok, but the story was kinda hard to pull off and I’m not sure how much I liked Caroline’s back story.
Have you noticed that the show always seems to shine in the last 5 minutes? Recall the “shoulder to the wheel”, Echo’s headshake to Sierra, Picaso-face-in-the-mirror, “I see perfectly,” “It’s not finished” and last’s week’s new doll.
I found a pretty neat round-up of the episodes is going on over at NerdWorld on the Time website. I have to agree with most of his thoughts on this latest episode. What really struck me though was the following:
the problem I’m having with Dollhouse, increasingly, is that it gets the unimportant stuff hilariously right, and the heavy stuff … eh. For example: I’m just not shocked that the Dollhouse has ties to a giant, heartless pharmaceuticals corporation. Hey, who doesn’t these days? Likewise Echo’s past as a campus animal rights activist. Sure, it makes sense logically enough, but it doesn’t exactly hit me where it counts. It sucks that her boyfriend died while they were trying to save the monkeys. But I’d only known him for about 20 minutes. I’m just not that torn up about it.
– And is it just me, or did Echo and her pals plan a raid on a campus laboratory with all the righteous zeal of a bunch of sorority girls planning a panty raid? (Or whatever it is sorority girls plan.) It felt off.
I have to agree.
second, or 3rd i guess.
