Dollhouse

after episode three i’m pretty much a perch with a hook in my lip. I’m hooked. Had some stronger whedon type storytelling. I will say the only thing that made me iffy and the testosterone is litterally draining from my body as I say this is but there seemed to be a lot of skin for no good reason accept the selling reason. but besides that a few really good twists.

and Whedon has me again.

Episode 3 was meh. Again.
For some reason i cant get into it, maby it needs more time. As for now Dushku is the only reason im watching it. And not because shes a great actress IYKWIM

I sure do, Boxy. I sure do!

I’m not exactly hooked yet, but I’m starting to see the connecting threads a bit more in this episode. The show, to me, is starting to develop a direction. Let’s see what happens by episode 6, when Joss and Dushku say things start piking up.

I’m still having a hard time with Ballard, though. I’m just no buying Helo as a hard nosed, cynical FBI spook.

I can see what you mean. I’m still waiting for him to shove a lollipop in his mouth.

Really? That’s one of the most believable things for me. I’m not getting fuzzy Helo vibes from Ballard at all.

Episode 3’s A Plot was so bad I had to will myself through it. There is a good plot around these “adventure of the week” stories; I wish more time was spent on them. In fact, I think the jobs would be better handled offscreen and only referenced off-site, with the main plot being getting to the bottom of the dollhouse and how to proceed there, because these weekly stories are killing me.

And you didin’ add an IYKWIM after that why…??? Or are you so far into the gutter that its implied

We have a saying at work: ‘assume the sarcasm bit is on unless otherwise stated’ - I believe the same might apply to the ‘IYKWIM’ bit here:

if (IYKWIM==1) then { forumsNormal(); }
else { notifyGWCCommunity("Hell hath frozen over!"); }

Excellent…Well it came nigh on close to snowing here in Florida so i was worried that “Hell hat frozen over!”

For me it’s not so much a Helo vibe as I don’t get the sense that Mr. Penickett has a full grasp of where the character is going (does anyone?). I sometimes find myself wishing the show were told entirely from his point of view, but then it’d be The X Files.

Which is what I mean when I say I wish the show were told from Ballard’s point of view. The main plot line is starting to develop, I feel, but it’s too buried in the B story so far.

And you couldn’t be more right, Armando.

I want me a Hell Hat. I bet it would be pointy…

I think it was Maureen Ryan? of the Tribune? that had an interview with Tahmoh Penikett about Dollhouse and it sounds like the season is structured so that in the first 6 eps we get more of a sense of what the Dollhouse is, how it operates, etc., and then we get more of an integration of the different storylines we’ve seen.

But I’m still liking it a lot. :slight_smile:

Wish granted!!!

Re: Eliza
I think she is doing a very good job at inhabiting her different personalities from ep to ep. The only one I find annoying and false is her tabula rasa self, but that might be a deliberate choice, considering that she literally has no personality at that point. Somewhere I read an opinion that she has less range than a teaspoon, and I must disagree, courteously. In terms of her hottness, I would very much like to feed her a nice turkey dinner with stuffing and gravy every day for two weeks and then reassess. She body movement and facial structure are graceful and elegant. She’s pleasing to look at. But the bones of her breast plate are visible to the naked eye, and for me that’s a deal-breaker.

There are two things I am hoping to see soon:

  1. A male active with some lines and a story. I want to see how Joss addresses the inherent squickiness of the concept when he can’t fall back on the gender roles that help us feel comfortable with it. Alpha does not count, as he is post-tabula rasa and we will presumably not see him on assignment.

  2. More about the political manipulations carried out by the group that runs the Dollhouse. They have planted an active in the mafia who is interacting with the very FBI agent who is investigating them. Are they choosing to send him out to mislead/toy with Ballard or is that merely a perk on the side of Vincent’s original mission? If it is the first, how have they achieved embedding him in the crime syndicate? And how often does he need to get “a treatment?” Does he do other engagements on the side?

:eek: ZOMG AWESOME!!! SQUEEE!!!

As an added bonus, its more entertaining than Dollhouse

Did I misunderstand something in last week’s ep or wasn’t the gangster kid an Active called Victor?

yea the "russian’ guy is an active

Yeah, I totally messed up the name in my post. Oops :o

There was a little whedonesque dialouge between the nerd and the scared up doctor. I really think he is going to be the “wash” of this show.

I am likeing it more and more each day.

and as for eye candy Me and my girlfried are all about SIERRA!!!
