Dollhouse

Alright, I have watched the rest of the episodes & I agree, it did get better. However, it still has MAJOR drawbacks the biggest one being Doushku herself. It’s too bad they couldn’t have Alan Tudyk on there as a major cast member. He elevated the show into area’s Doushku just can’t. So, I guess I’m back to “wait & see” with this one.

I agree. She lost some of the hotness from her Buffy days.

She’s only ACTING not-as-hot!

Yeah, right. Why would she DO that?

because she isn’t that great an actor?

I’m confused. Are we still being ironic?

Sadly, I’m inclined to agree. Her gig in Buffy suited her perfectly: playing off of someone else, as the brooding, tragic counterpart. In a supporting role.

I’m afraid she has not yet shown that she can carry a show.

I agree completely. I am not a buffy watcher… but isn’t that what the fans say about SMG ( or they should, judgeing her in other roles). I know that in other movies SMG and Eliza are poor actors… but in the case of dollhouse, it’s all about Helo, Topher, and all the other goodness. WE put up with Echo to get to see everyone else.

We only have to wait until September to get some new Dollhouse, but in the mean time here are the credits Angel style:

And BSG style

I got my wife to like this show. I saw the premiere when it came out.
But we didn’t watch any more until recently. So far we’ve seen all but the last 5 episodes (which we didn’t TiVo). As luck would have it, the last 5 are on hulu.

My wife doesn’t like Tamoh’s acting in it. I have to admit he’s not quite as good in this as he was in Helo.

I was rewatching Spaced last week, and just for a brief moment, there she was, Adele, riding a bike! I had no idea!

And yes. Unfortunately, Echo is the least interesting character out of every character on the show (I’m even more interested in the girl scientist assistant than her), and I think it has much to do with Dushku’s inability to portray a character as layered and difficult as Echo.

She is, ironically, the weakest link in the show, isn’t she? The show really is at its best when she’s not the focus of attention and just part of the larger ensemble.

I finally (FINALLY!) had time to watch the finale last week (which is more than I can say for the last three, burned off episodes of “Pushing Daisies,” which are still sitting in our DVR unwatched) and boy did it get good. And yet, part of me feels a little nervous about season 2.
Ballard working for the Dollhouse? Obviously he’s going to be Echo’s handler. Does this mean we’ll see lots more one shots with Echo as an international terrorist who can sing backup in a cult leader’s hip hop band while dodging arrows from crazed nature lovers and dancing? YAWN!
He gets better. He sucked at the beginning of the run. To me it felt like he was just thrown in there because, hey, we have to give him SOMETHING to do, right? But when the one-shots stop and the mythology starts picking up, Tamoh really steps up to the plate, I think (particularly in the last three or four episodes).

Wouldn’t it be fun to see Summer Glau as a doll with Sean Maher as her handler?

I’d like to see Nathan Fillion make a guest stint on Dollhouse. I know he’s busy over with Castle, but that show can’t possibly last much longer, can it?

(Man, I’m being snarky today!)

io9.com put this little story out, shortly after the news about Dollhouse’s second season and the end of TSCC, about Whedon approaching Summer to appear on the show because it only makes perfect sense.

However, it sounds like his plans for her do not involve being a blank, doll/robot.

I’m inclined to agree that she’s been there and done that. The couple of suggestions in the article sound promising, like the new FBI agent tracking the Dollhouse, or a sleazy Rossum Corp. executive.

Can you just imagine the type of client he’d be at the Dollhouse? I’d sure love to see that.

LOVE castle BTW.

Gods, I hate to say it, but it’s kinda true… I like Dushku, I don’t want her to suck… but I have to say that her costars Lachman and Gjokaj seem to have superior acting skills – they’re a big reason I watch the show. Seeing Gjokaj play a southern horsebreeder, after seeing him play a Russian mobster, was fantastic. I’m not a Dushku hater (I liked her in Tru Calling), but I want to see her step her game up. I hope she pulls it off.

I really, really wanted to love Castle. I just couldn’t. The premise is nice as a one shot but I can’t believe that any police department would let an author simply tag along on investigations.

Just be thankful I didn’t like it. Every show I’ve liked this season (most recently, “The Unusuals”) save for Dollhouse got the axe. And Dollhouse just BARELY made it.

I like Dushku, I don’t want her to suck…

Where is Galaxy Ranger when we need him?

I totally agree. I think I liked “Dollhouse” more than most because those rough middle episodes everyone is talking about got preempted in my viewing area, so all I’ve seen are the first two and the last…five, I think? And yes, Echo/Dushku is the least interesting of the bunch. Hopefully Whedon will continue to skew more towards an ensemble show rather than a vehicle for one actor in Season 2.

Well, I’d like to see Sean Maher as a doll any day, personally. Maybe Summer Glau should be his handler?

Even better! I’ll call Joss and have him set it up.
