Dollhouse

Wow, Fox not completely screwing up a good show. I’m shocked. They seem to be giving a few things a chance. I hear that they’ve renewed ‘The Cleveland Show’ for a second season, yet the first hasn’t even aired yet. I’m not sure if that’s confidence or recklessness as to me Cleveland seems about the worst possible Family guy charachter to spin off.

Thats Fantastic! They actualy seem to have looked at online streaming and DVR’s. Maybe they are starting to understand the way their target audience actually watches theses shows. YEAH!!! PROGRESSSS!!!

That’s why we OGs don’t wear pants.

Just saying…

Dollhouse’s renewal has made the BBC’s webpage.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8053531.stm

Its piggybacked onto a story about Scrubs but still.

Plus is currently one of their most read and e-mailed articles. Not bad for a show that doesn’t premier in the UK for another 4 days.

I think Fox will be mighty disappointed when the DVDs dont sell that well. Sorry everyone, Dollhouse is by no means great. It is certainly good, and I’m excited to see how well it can progress in the 2nd season, but its not Firefly by a long shot.
If they thought Firefly was so successful, why don’t they give that another season:rolleyes:

On a happier note- the past few. eps have def. been pretty good. It was odd seeing Wash as not the funny man, but he did a suprisingly good job. If it can keep up quality like this for a bit, i think it stands a chance to be real quality.

You know, I’ve been avoiding this board because I’ve been on the road and have yet to catch the season finale. I just read that the series got renewed and wanted to post about it, only to find you all already knew. D’oh!

Now, say nothing more about Alan Tudyk. He was awsome in the penultimate  episode and can’t wait to get home and see my wife and kids, THEN sit down to watch the season finale.

And Boxy, I’m with you: I was ambivalent about this show at first, and maybe even after the sixth or so episode, when it started showing signs of life. It sure ended strongly, it seems. I certainly was hooked after the last episode I saw, so I’m looking forward to season 2.

I stopped watching because I didn’t want to invest in a show I was lukewarm about to begin with whennit was going to be canceled anyway, but I will certainly check it out agin with the next season to see where they take it (since i have no idea how they can take the show and move it forward).

The part of the article on the BBC that struck me:

t suffered near-disastrous ratings, and many assumed it would suffer the same fate as its creator’s previous series, Firefly, which was pulled after just 11 episodes.

But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, executives took into account Firefly’s longevity - it has continued to sell well on DVD and spawned a big-screen movie, Serenity - when deciding Dollhouse’s fate.

Hmmm. I guess that is good news…but I have a better solution: Why not just give us more Firefly?

That WOULD be nice, wouldn’t it?

A little late to the party… but I found out today while reading the L.A. Times today, and my favorite line from the article was (and this is the exec that renewed the show):

"Not to mention, if we had canceled Joss’ show, I’d probably have 110 million e-mails this morning.

Damn straight you would have. Be afraid. Be veeeeery afraid.

Now all Fox has to do is keep the frak out of the way.

Maybe poor Summer will guest star next season?

Yaaaaaaaaaay![/jumping up and down with my Jayne hat on]

Know who’s available now who’d make a great doll? Summer Glau.

Ooh! Foxtrot?

I have mentioned the same thing else where… YES… bring her on…

And

I have heard that Chucks lower budget is going to cause a major cast change…Maybe Adam Baldwin could join as her handler…

personally i want to see James Marsters back on A Whedon show. i would point you to the Buffy episodes dirty girls. to see the chemistry between James and Eliza, can`t find the video but it was… well parts of me are still recovering.

yes James Marsters should join Dollhouse… Maybe he could be part of what went wrong for Echo that landed her in the dollhouse… or from one of the other dollhouses. as long as he is Bad arse.

I even watched when he was on Smallville… and of course he was fantastic in Torchwood.

I always thought that if Summer wasn’t doing Terminator, she would be Echo. We need her in the show. Sure, casting her as a doll is type casting her, but she’s so good at paying the crazy chick.

Woohoo! I agree that it’s no Firefly, but I’m still sucked in. I think it’s in some ways a harder sell than Firefly because so many of the characters do really despicable things, versus just Jayne being amoral; yes, Serenity’s crew were thieves and “bad guys,” but not really. The folks who run the Dollhouse, I always feel torn when I start to like one of them, because they truly are villainous.

That would be lovely, but it’s heartening to see that Firefly at least taught the Fox execs to take a different approach to unconventional shows rather than the “not an instant hit? giver 'er the ax” approach they’d had for awhile now.

Well I’m pleased. I couldn’t get the hub to watch much BSG with me but he did watch Dollhouse- every episode in fact. Kinda reminds him of Alias. Looking forward to the next season.
