Donner directly asks Eve if the previous Mars mission was to pick up the Alpha object.
Eve says yes.
Donner & Ted are furious with all the withholding of information. It never stops.
Eve tells Donner & Ted that the Mars mission failed because “it” (Beta and/or Alpha) didn’t want Sharon & Walker (the 2 astronauts that were left behind on Mars due to the storm).

There is no trust between the crew and Mission Control.
Meanwhile Zoe is standing in front of Beta, just watching.

First Mars mission:
We now see that Sharon was have also having hallucinations.
She hears a child’s voice calling her name.

Walker is sweating & breathing heavily without having done any exertion.
Something is not right with him.
Meanwhile, back on Antares the crew prepares to vote in the election.
Not Jen, she’s Canadian!
Beta is singing a lot today.

Today it will be determined if Paula’s reattached thumb is doing well enough to pilot, the lander.
Nadia has had it.
She won’t cooperate in the Venus landing until someone tells her what this “thing” is.
She is royally pissed.

Meanwhile back at Mission Control, Trevor Williams, a high profile reporter is fishing around for answers to the numerous questions.
Trevor won’t be deflected by Goss.
Nadia is sulking in her quarters.
She is by the book kind of gal.
All these mysteries are making her crazy.

Donner to Ted:
He’s convinced they’re making the same mistakes they made on the first Mars mission.
Donner is convinced he should be piloting the lander.
He’s afraid for Paula - that Beta maybe doesn’t want her.

She’s doing great.
Paula to Zoe:
“Beta isn’t alien, Zoe. Don’t you see? It’s God.”
(Prepare yourself for a tiny bit a disappointment Paula.)

Paula: “It’s God sending us a sign that our faith will be rewarded. He will guide us.”
Paula, with a some chewing gum, sticks a St. Christopher medal to the lander “dash”.
Meanwhile back in the lab, Jen is talking to Rollie.
The distance between the two is growing.
She can’t forgive him for not telling her about Beta.

Zoe is excited about the science.
