Defying Gravity Re-watch

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Zoe’s suit looks like it’s disintegrating by the second.

50 meters from the lander.
Go Zoe, keep pushing.

Zoe makes it to the foot of the lander.

Through her helmet we can see that Zoe’s skin is burned.

Mission Control
Alarms
“We have a breach in the suit. Left arm servos are failing.”

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Donner:
Zoe, don’t breathe, get in the cage.

Zoe’s suit motors are grinding and straining.

Donner:
Zoe, you can’t breath. Hold your breath.

Zoe collapses onto the cage.

Mintz: She’s down.

Wass: You are so close.

Donner: Don’t breath. Get in the cage.

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Zoe somehow manages to stand up in the cage.
Zoe’s face badly burned. She manages to hold on to Gamma/baby.

Ted: She’s in, she’s in. Donner pull her up.

Donner pulls the cage into the lander.

Mission Control:
“How bad is the breach? Not complete.”

“93C (199F)”
Are they talking about the suit or Zoe?

“Heart still beating”

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Eve: “She still have Gamma?”

“Still in her arms.”

Ajay: “She’s in the door’s closed.”

Goss:
Donner, go. Get the hell off that planet"

Donner: Roger that.

Ep. 13 - Kiss

As the lander is lifting off Venus, we see Zoe unconscious.
It looks like her hair melted. That isn’t possible, is it?

Oh, it’s not her hair. It’s the fabric inside the helmet.

Zoe’s looks awful. The crew takes her to the Med bay.

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Mission Control

Claire:
I’m seeing lung damage. 2nd & 3rd degree burns over half her body.
She really shouldn’t be alive.

Goss:
Odds of survival?

Claire:
20%

Arnel:
And another one bites the dust.

(Somebody smack that whiney Arnel)

Ajay:
Shut up! Shut your mouth.
I don’t want to hear one more word coming out of it.
Not one! Do you understand me?
She did it.
Can’t you understand that?

(No Ajay, he can’t. Arnel is too bitter and angry.)

Goss:

Yes, she did it.
And for those of you who can’t recognize it,
that was courage. From both of them.
And that is what we aspire to.

(I still don’t think Arnel gets it.)

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Back on Antares.

The Gamma object is placed in one of the containers.

(Jeesh! Are the rest of the objects going to be that difficult to retrieve? Scary)

Wass & Paula stand back after securing Gamma and just look at the object.

Paula: Wass, would you call this a miracle?

Wass: As close as I’ve seen.

Paula: She saw it as a baby in her arms.
I think we see what we want to see.
But it still happened.

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Major Tom’s Pub
Trevor, the reporter, is surprised no one from Mission Control is in the pub celebrating.

On Antares
Zoe is rushed to Med bay.
Slowly her melted jumpsuit is peeled off Zoe’s back.
Pretty gruesome sight.

Ted to Eve:

“We’re moving away from normal.”

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Rollie can’t take the guilt anymore.
He calls the hospital to ask how the hit & run victim is doing.
He identifies himself as the driver.

Antares - Med bay

Zoe looks really bad. Her hair’s half gone.
They’re dressing her burns.

Mintz moves off to talk to Claire at Mission Control.
Claire: Nobody’s celebrating. Not with Zoe in trouble.

Mintz: She should be dead. And this wasn’t adrenaline.

Claire: It wasn’t the object. It was too close. It would have done more.

Mintz: Unless it’s trying to test us, push us to the edge of our capabilities.

Claire: Why would it do that?

Mintz: Why would God test Job?

Ep. 13 - Kiss

Mintz thinks maybe the genetic changes are a factor in Zoe’s survival so far.

Back at Major Tom’s Pub

Trevor receives a blocked text. “Look at the black boulder.”
This is a clue to where the pre-recorded segment begins.
Hmm, I wonder who sent the text? Oh Arnel you tool.
