Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

i got to hang out with a friend from college who i havn’t seen in many years. It turns out that she lives less than 2 miles away from me. I got to meet her son. It was a really good time.

I hope you’ll get to hang out more, now that you know you live so close. It’s always so nice to see old friends.

That sounds wonderful.

And to round out a good day. I discovered that my stove top flips up so i can clean under the drip trays. yay. My Kitchen no longer smells like grease!!

Life can not get much better.

My birthday swag included wine and all the steak I could eat, Photoshop CS4, Pimp: The Backhanding, and “The Stormcaller” by Tom Lloyd. It’s been a great day.

(Also, P:TB has art by Skottie Young, who did one of my favorite arcs of New X-men! And it’s waaaay more fun than it should be

Spent the day with my mom. We hung out, hung some pictures, talked politics, movies, history, even a little scooby doo and any anything that came to mind over a bottle of wine. shared a meal, and i even scored some homemade spaghetti sauce. it was a damn fine day

My aunt’s been on facebook for a while. My mother decided she wanted to join to keep up with my sisters and me, but she didn’t want my aunt all up in her business. So she got an account under an assumed name. shakes head

Back in January I managed to smash my iPod - bad - very bad. My ex offered to try and fix it for me. He ordered parts then found more wrong with it. I finally gave it up for dead. Two days ago he texted me - it is fixed. He brought it back from the dead!! I am soooo happy and now I have a lich iPod.

Just bought my tickets for Star Trek at the IMAX. Even better it is for the early evening show on Thursday, May 7!

I have a school campout that weekend and didn’t think I would get to see it until Sunday night and would be too tired from the outing to enjoy the show.

Yeah, I was obsessed about facebook a year few years ago, then I quit. When I got poked by my cousin, I realized it has become entirely too popular for me.

If there ever is a death knell to coolness of facebook, it has to be when parents start showing up. This party is officially over, people… it has jumped the shark.

I know things are passe when I finally hear about them…

It’s hard to find my way out from under this rock sometimes…

I have to admit that I’ve been on Facebook since… um… 2004. I used to hang out on it a lot more than I do now (I really dislike the App stuff), but I don’t think it’s terrible. It’s a good way to passively stay in touch with people. And yes, I’m friends with my Mom. And my in-laws (they’re the more impressive ones, my mother was a parental early-adopter lol!)

A good thing:
It’s only a few weeks until the end of the semester, and my students are actually asking questions other than what’s going to be on the final. They’re asking about material that goes beyond what will be covered in the course. So, at least some students have developed scientific curiosity. I always get really pleased when this happens in a course.

Oooooooh, Maaaaaaaaannnnn! You got all the way there, and didn’t get to see 'em?

My 3 year old niece cannot stop saying that. The first 1000 frakin times it was cute. The next 1000 fraking times… ok, was still cute, but still.

I have wanted a crack…er…blackberry for a long time. The hubby has always said no - too expensive etc. Friday a girl I work with GAVE me her blackberry world edition because she didn’t like it and already had a new phone. Today I go to the phone store to get it all set up  I am a happy girl.

So totally not fair. I want one. Know anyone else that wants to give away a “crackberry”? And it’s nice to know I’m not the only one that calls them that!

Just got back from seeing Derren Brown: Enigma at the Lowry. Fantastic magician/mentallist stage show, fully packed house, and my jaw dropped several times. The dudes a witch.

Too often, I know this feeling.

One of my students got a C on a regular biology class. She was not passing be fore I pushed a bit. Sometimes teaching is not so bad.
