I think I may need to start counting practice sessions and giving myself rewards for them. I haven’t seriously practiced since the fall of 2006. I miss the piano, but I’m too busy to seriously work at it right now. How sad is that?
This is in the B & M thread but really it belongs here.
My printer that came as a good deal with my new computer came today. The computer didn’t. I have to hang on one more day to get my new Mac laptop. Yes I know you all will cry for me and give me my needed support. not
New computer new computer!!! happy dance
Now let me ask you this: I know you’re a dog person.
What’s more exciting for you? Getting a new computer? Or getting a new dog?
Waddaya mean ‘not?’ It’s a new addition to the family. I’m tearing up already. What are you going to name it?
In the years I had that one laptop I have had 3 new dogs. Granted they were not puppies so they were not new, but they were new to my family.
Computers do not love you, or keep your feet warm. (G rating now shame on you.) Dogs are more exciting unless you are computerless. I do not have a laptop so I am tied to the desk. I hate that. I like multitasking. Like letting the dogs play in the yard as I am chatting with you. How can I go to a Frak party without a TV in the office.
Dogs win.
I must meet my new computer before I can name it. I always name my cars but really never named my computers. I must go and tend to laundry. If I had a laptop I could do both at the same time. Maybe I should take a half day off from work to greet the new family member when it comes.
What do you mean computers don’t love you? My computer’s always telling me how much it loves me, how sexy it finds me and wonders if I’d like to have private chats with it. You mean, she didn’t mean it? :o
In other news, Mrs. Armando had her job interview today. Turned out it was a pre-interview screening with a head hunter hired by this company that’s looking for a receptionist/office assistant. She coached her on her resume and then asked her to email it in tomorrow so she can forward it to the company to schedule the on site interview with them. Sounds promising. Keeping fingers (and toes) crossed.
The Pirate Bay is a sometimes site…
Yay. It looks like my work place might be getting another contract and it might just be better than we expected!!
My freelance gig is a go! When it pays out, it should cover the repairs I need on my car so I can get it inspected and renew the plates and stop getting tickets. And it should get me up to date on my bills. If it doesn’t quite get me there, the landscaping work should be starting up soon. If the landscaping doesn’t start up soon, I’m applying to the City Museum (one of the frakking coolest places in St. Louis), where my brother just got hired for a surprisingly nice salary just for walking the floor. They’re still looking for people, and my brother said several interviews just canceled today. Also, I got accepted as a Guide on ChaCha.com, where I can get paid looking up the answers to people’s questions online. Basically, money for being a nerd.
It’ll be tight for a couple more weeks yet, but I may be able to breathe soon.
Yay Stroogie! That’s like a shower of anticipation for good stuff coming your way. awesome!
I asked for a raise - a big one.
Never an easy thing to do.
And now, I’ll have to wait almost a month to get an answer.
I’m trying to stay loose, and not get too stressed over it,
but that’s hard to do. Wish me luck.
I had a pretty interesting end of the day yesterday:
I had a potentially profitable conversation with the cultural liason at the Dutch consulate, who has indicated that they might be able to provide some financial support for a project I’m trying to get together for next season.
As soon as I hung up the phone I had an email from a local college about scheduling a phone interview for a job next week.
Finally, ended the night with a very nice frak party with friends from town/work, Tickachick from the forum (who looks JUST like her avatar) and a friend from grad school who’s in town for a concert tonight.
A pretty nice Friday, overall.
Sounds like it was a good Friday the 13th.
I finally finished my mid term essay paper on Latin America revolutions. Finally! Huzaaah! Blessed freedom! Oh wait . . . now there is another one due in another class.
Ah well . . . guess it could be a helluva a lot worse.
Be careful they’ll try to send you tulips and wooden shoes and claim its their only form of currency.
If they’re in anything like the shape we are, it might be before long.
THat sounds like a fun paper to write, what cases were you looking at?
It was actually a bit frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, I love the class, but this essay…
We were asked the question if the revolutions leading up to Latin American Independence represented a ‘radical’ challenge of the old order (basically up to 1824). It had to be around seven pages, but we covered so much information, I actually had to edit out three pages to get it to length and answer the question. I could have easily written about another twenty. Personally, I focused on Venezuela, Haiti, and New Spain. It was actually a fun essay to write, but there was just so much information, I had to struggle to figure how I would answer the question, and what examples I would want to use.
If I can pay the rent on the venue AND my performers with tulips and clogs, I’ll do it.
Goes off to perfect Jedi mind trick…
[practicingjedimindtrick] you WILL be paid in tulips and clogs. Tulips and clogs are quite valuable [practicingjedimindtrick/]
